NCAA upset thread

Yeah, you don't spot a team a 23 point lead in the tournament and expect to come back and win! Way to show up too late Spartans!

that was terrible on UCLA's part. Their rebounding killed them. MSU had to hit at least 3 3's the last 3 minutes after an offensive rebound

Yeah, UCLA got complacent alright! No effort during the second half at all.

At least Gonzaga won though. That guarantees at least two mid-majors making the Sweet 16. The winner of Gonzaga/BYU and Morehead St./Richmond. Also look for San Diego St to move on, at least they have a good chance to do so. Maybe Butler will get lucky too. Gonzaga looks like they have a good shot against a shorthanded BYU, especially since Gonzaga has been flying under the radar a bit this year.

It's about time a few of my picks came in today! Outside of the Oakland game, I think I got 14 of the 16 games today. I am glad I changed to VCU at the last minute as they laid it on Georgetown tonight. I think VCU has an excellent shot at the Sweet 16 as I have them beating a decimated Purdue team on Sunday. We'll see if that pans out, but right now it seems like VCU is one of the hottest teams in the tournament so far.

Also nice to see the Illini win rather easily over UNLV. I'm not sure they can pull a Northern Iowa and beat Kansas, but that would be huge, though I do have Illinois losing that.

Indiana St. hanging around as well, though I have Syracuse winning tonight.

Georgetown lands 5-Star studs, wins 20 games and gets to the NCAA every year --
but....since getting to the Final Four in 2007 -- the past four years are relative flops....
only once in those past four years has Georgetown even won ONE NCAA game -- and their overall record for those departing seniors this year is 1-4...

And it's not because they don't get favors...
This year - at 23-11 they got a 6-seed
Last year they were 21-11 and still got seeded 3rd! ..then lost to a 14 seed, Ohio.
The only game they've won in the NCAA was back in 2008 over Maryland-Baltimore County when they were gifted with a 2-seed!

Yeah, it does not surprise me that some very respectible teams lose early each year. West Virginia is another one that comes to mind as they just lost to Kentucky. This means five Big East teams are gone already, though there are a few teams at the top of the Big East that still have the potential to all the way.

Am watching a great CIT game right now involving Morehead St. and Richmond......

Oh wait, this is actually an NCAA Tournament game! My bad! :D

Nice to see both of these double digit seeds playing for the Sweet 16, though most would rightfully argue that Richmond should have been seeded much higher. And the current score validates this so far as Richmond is up 12-4 at the under 12 first half timeout.

Butler up by 4 over #1 Pitt with 3 mins left. Can Butler do it again?

Jason

Yes they did! And Pitt is the only number one seed I did not have going to the Final Four in what was a pretty conservative group of picks for me.

Heck though, I don't care! I hope Butler wins the whole thing this year! :D

Wasn't that the craziest sequence of 9 seconds anyone has seen? Refs call a foul on Butler before a half court shot with 1 second left, giving Pitt 2 Free Throws. Pitt makes 1 of them to tie it.

Then Butler rebounds the 2nd Free Throw, and tries to go up for a full court shot, but a Pitt player's arm was hanging over him, and Refs call a foul with half second left. Butler makes the Free Throws and takes the game. Absolutely nuts.

BCS call followed by a "make up" call. Simple as that. The refs oughta be ashamed of themselves to be influencing the outcome of a game like that!
