New Commit Stefan Zecevic

I think the Zecvic situation is slightly different in that he has spent a year in the U.S. and has played basketball here.

There have been a few pretty good players from Europe that have played college ball. As T has said not many and there usually was some special circumstance. One player that was pretty good player from Lithuania and a former Maryland guard, Sarunas Jasikevicius. He was a shooter and still plays for Lithuania's national team. As I said I'll wait until he arrives on campus and suits up before I comment. There has only been one recruit the last few years that I was 100% jazzed about that committed but did not make it to the campus.

Shooter

Shooter

Just talked to someone at the gym and they stated he was a flat out shooter. Had great vision and very impressive. The big kid not so much

You have to remember that 6'10 HS kids progress much slower than guards. Hard to say if the kid will pan out, but I'm sure he must have something that is compelling to college coaches.

I heard the same about Zecevic...really shoots it, great court vision. Glad he committed!

I am already a big fan of the kid if he committed and plan to follow him every game when he's playing at Lee Academy

several of Zecevic's Lee Academy teammates are ranked at the very top of the state's rankings...

Two of them are ranked in the Top 20 of the entire New England area

Just for reference - here is a pretty thorough list of Euro kids who have signed with colleges the past few years - the list even includes Michael Ochereobia...

2011- http://www.europeanprospects.com/in.../ncaa-recruiting-european-players-class-2011/
2010- http://www.europeanprospects.com/in.../ncaa-recruiting-european-players-class-2010/
2009- http://www.europeanprospects.com/euro-ncaa-report/

..a few of the names are recognizable...the Canarias Basketball Academy where Michael Ochereobia came from has now sent over 30 kids to DI and DII colleges, but Ochereobia is the only name most fans would recognize...

btw - I note that this thread about Bradley's newest commit has well over 3000 views and dozens of responses just in a couple days......
- plus there's actually another thread going over on the Recruiting board that increases those numbers...
This is clearly a topic of intense interest and the activity dwarfs anything just about anywhere on any non-BCS team's message board...
Kudos to BU's great fans

I don't know if you're being serious or just hopeful.....

Actually, a bit of both. Sooner of later, China will have HS age kids looking to get more bb exposure in the US through our college bb programs. Since the BCS boys get most of the top US talent, and, any eligible European who can play, why shouldn't BU start a presence in China and be the leader there.

Got to get in early and before the big boys do.

Now, if the Chinese don't want their kids coming to the US and joining US College Programs, or, their kids can make money in China pro leagues without US College experience,

Never mind!

I know this story deals with Chinese Olympic athletes but it may involve some of the good basketball players as well. Don't want to mess with the Chinese Government LOL...

Here's another Euro kid (this guy used one season in juco) who is now docked a year of eligibility and is a junior because of his play in Europe..

funny how again - NJCAA gave this kid a complete pass even tho they knew the same thing NCAA knew - and did not see any issues with this guy but they sure did with Wilkins - and as best as I can figure - John Wilkins is STILL the only athlete that has ever been given such a penalty for European team involvement in all of NJCAA history.
