Next game- BU at Evansville, Wed. Feb. 25, 7:05 pm

You could be right. This is the wording from a release by the NCAA--

All teams that won regular-season conference championships but failed to earn NCAA tournament bids are guaranteed places in the NIT.

It doesn't quite clarify if that includes co-winners who were not #1 seeds. But it doesn't specifically exclude them, either.

This could be a bad example, but last year Stephen F Austin and Lamar both finished at 13-3 in the Southland. UT-Arlington won the Conference Tourney. Stephen F Austin went to the NIT. Lamar did not. In their Conference Tourney, Stephen F Austin was the 1 seed, Lamar was the 2 seed, and UT-Arlington was the 7 seed.

Evansville fans finally have a message board-

Here is their thread about the BU-Evansville game--

It is the final home game for their seniors, which includes 4-year players Jason Holsinger and Shy Ely.
Holsinger and Ely are one-two among active Valley players in career scoring with 1,399 and 1,326 points, respectively. And they were recruited to Evansville by the previous coach, Steve Merfeld. A couple of their fans' posts say nice things about Merf, but a couple of the posts are just juvenile.

It defaults to the one-seed.

Well, that's what I thought I had seen somewhere.... but I didn't have a link or quote to prove it. So I provided an example. I coulda sworn I saw somewhere that the NIT relies on each Conference's Tie-breaker system providing their #1 seed as the recipient of the Auto-NIT bid if they don't win the Conference tourney (for the auto-NCAA bid).

The confusion comes when a league with multiple divisions has teams with the same record. Then the league has to officially "tie-break" and declare a regular season winner before the conference tourney begins.

The news is not good on Dodie's hand.

Of course not. Out for the season is probably the word. This is so d@mn frustrating, I am at a loss for words. I am so sick of this garbage happening to us. I know every team has injuries, but I think one would be hard pressed to find as many significant injuries to players over the last 10 years than BU. It is truly remarkable.

MAN!!!! I am getting tired of this!

I'm heading to Haiti and gonna learn some wicked voodoo and put hexes on everyone else.

DC, can you elaborate? It can't be broken. Even BU, who has been notorious for downplaying injuries, couldn't keep this covered for 3 days. I'm really hoping you say it's a bad sprain that will keep him out until next week or something. Just say it's not broken and I'll feel better.

Expect the worst. I'm not down on this team, I am down on our luck. We can do everything right until the cows come home, but without the graces of good or even average health we'll never be more than what we are right now. There's no one to blame, it's just not in the cards right now for the Braves. I wonder if it ever will be.

Alright, so the lineup of 1, 2, 4, 5, 12 may not happen tomorrow night for very long then.

The good news? It wasn't Theron. Or Sam Man. Or SS/DC. If DD doesn't play too much, we'll get more consistent PT for Roberts and Norris. That can be a good thing. (And if he's bruised, lets let him heal until the MVC Tourney... these games don't mean much for our seeding!

Don't get me wrong, I love Dodie and am hoping that somehow this all blows over. But of all the positions, at least it's one where we have a little bit of depth..

Don't get me wrong, I love Dodie and am hoping that somehow (although unusual) DaCoach got some mis-info. (Doubtful). But of all the positions, at least it's one where we have a little bit of depth..

You don't just lose a double-digit scorer on a team that has trouble scoring who's also your best perimeter defend and be OK. I'd love to be peachy-keen and rosey red optimistic but I find it real hard to be at this point. Even the great Bradley Braves can only withstand so many injuries before it catches up with them.
