The Blue Hose are one of the most recent additions to Division I (3rd season as a transitional D1), and will be playing the second game of a week-long, 4 game road trip. They played in Champaign on Saturday night, and lost to the Illini 94-48 to drop to 0-3.-

Presbyterian College Quick Facts- They were founded in 1880 in Clinton, South Carolina and have played basketball since 1914. Their enrollment is one of the smallest in D1 at 1,200.
They compete in the Big South Conference, and are coached by Gregg Nibert. Last season they were 12-17, but they return only a few players from last year's team.

Presbyterian is the youngest team in Division I by average age of the players on their roster. Only 8 players have played so far in their 3 games.
Jake Troyli, a 6'9" redshirt freshman from Largo, Florida, is a starter and leads them in scoring with an average of 13.3. He also averages 4.7 rpg. Looks like he is built like Anthony Thompson.
Chase Holmes, a 6'4" sophomore guard, is a starter and is their second leading scorer at 11.0 ppg. He also averages 4.3 rpg.
Zach Faircloth is a 6'2" freshman shooting guard who has started 1 game. He is their 3rd leading scorer at 9.0 ppg. He leads them in rebounding at 5.3 rpg.
Khalid Mutakabbir is a 3rd guard who has started all 3 games. He is a 6'4" freshman who averages 37.4 minutes per game (most on the team), and averages 5.3 ppg, a team-leading 3.0 apg, and 3.0 rpg. He also averages 5.3 turnovers per game.
Presbyterian has turned the ball over 63 times in 3 games, compared to just 31 for their opponents.
Walt Allen is another starter and a redshirt junior. He is a 6'4" forward who averages 5.0 ppg and 3.0 rpg.
Kevin Davis started 2 games. He is a 6'2" sophomore who averages just 2.0 ppg.
The only 2 other players who have played are Ryan Hargrave, a 6'6" freshman (3.7 ppg and 43% on threes), and Jay Reynolds, a 6'10", 245 lb. freshman forward (1.7 ppg and 2.7 rpg in just 13 mpg).
3 of their best players have are redshirting this season, and will not play at all. Next year will be the first season they are eligible to compete for an NCAA tournament slot, and they have redshirted these 3 players to save them for next season-
Al'Lonzo Coleman - a 6'7", 230 lb. junior who started all 29 games last season and averaged a team-leading 15.0 ppg and 8.4 rpg last season for Presbyterian, and was 2nd team All-Big South Conference.
Pierre Miller- a 5'10" junior point guard who started all 29 games last season, and averaged 7'8 ppg (5th on the team) and a team-leading 2.9 assists per game.
Josh Johnson - a 6'3" junior guard who also started all 29 games last season and averaged 9.9 ppg (3rd on the team) and 3.7 rpg.

...Presbyterian is the youngest team in Division I ...
Oh no, not this excuse again!

..3 of their best players have are redshirting this season, and will not play at all. Next year will be the first season they are eligible to compete for an NCAA tournament slot, and they have redshirted these 3 players to save them for next season...
So they are just electing to blow this season off like they have much of a chance of an NCAA bid next year anyway?
Even with those 3 guys last year they finished 9-9 in a horribly weak (one-bid) conference with an RPI of 215.

My starting lineup for this game:
DSE
A.Warren
C.Roberts
T.Brown
W.Egolf
I think S.Maniscalco does a better job coming off the bench, Milos needs to contribute on both ends to get his confidence going as we will need him to contribute more as the season goes on, A.Thompson continues to improve and hopefully gets into double figures in points tues; E.McCain needs to get back on track also as he appears to have lost his confidence, S.Singh needs to start rebounding and scoring also as we are going to need to get more production out of him.

I think Sam Singh isn't going to give us too much at this point...I mean it is what it is right?

McCain I'm really on the fence about because benching him can do one of two things...It could either light a fire under him, or you could completely lose him.

I agree on Sammy as I feel he does do better as the 6th man....some guys are just very well suited for that role and he has all those attributes to be that guy.

Thompson needs more minutes Tuesday, but I don't want them to be at the expense of Will AND we all know they won't be on the floor together even though they could do that and move Will to the 4.

That being said, your lineup is pretty good and I'll finish with one statement...

Get the ball to the post...high or low, I don't really care, but our efficiency is so incredibly high when we do this.

Does this game count in the RPI, despite the fact they aren't tournament eligible yet?

Absolutely.

Presbyterian has been counted in the RPI since the 07-08 season (#333 that year and #215 last year)

Some other info, from Jerry Palm's site at collegerpi.com:

"Four teams become full-fledged members of Division I this year and are eligible for the postseason: Kennesaw St, NJIT, North Florida and Utah Valley. North Dakota, Seattle, South Dakota, and SIU-Edwardsville are new to the RPI this year, but have not yet finished with their transition to D-I.

Bryant joins the Northeast Conference this season, but is not eligible for the postseason.

The Great West Conference begins playing a conference schedule this year. The members are Chicago St, Houston Baptist, NJIT, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas Pan American, and Utah Valley. The conference does not have an automatic bid.

This summer, Centenary announced its intention to drop down to Division III in two years. Winston Salem St announced in September that it will not complete its transition to Division I and will remain in Division II. That change will take effect next season."

According to ESPN's new Simulator, Bradley won 90% of the time by an average score of 67.3-51.9 based on 10,000 simulations. Andrew Warren will apparently be the leading scorer with 14.8 points, Sam will have 3.9 assists, and Taylor will have 7 boards.

BU must remember it isn't in Vegas yet

In this article DR comments on Presbyterian's 6'9" 185 pound FRESHMAN Center, Jake Troyli, averaging 13.3 ppg and had 15 pts vs Illini the other day.
Too bad BU doesn't have him on their team!

Gives me hope AT can contrbute at 200+ pounds in year 3 at BU. :)

Tonight would be a good time for Sticks to show us what he can do vs a similar player he will be playing against.
