Iowa State has had three starters nursing injuries. Wesley Johnson did not play this weekend and if he is absent in Peoria, it will take a huge effort by ISU to win the game. Our frontcourt has played pretty well and our guards are green. We have been mediocre on the boards and have turned the ball over wayyyyy to much. Our free throw shooting has been solid and we have blocked shots well. Biggest keys for ISU success are to defend the perimeter (which we have not done well), hit the glass on both ends (we have allowed way to many offensive boards), defend through the screens (we tend to get loss switching players and guys get free for open looks) and knock down our open looks (we went 0-12 from three on Friday night).

Least your coach managed to change up the game plan since the 3's weren't falling and won your 2 games. We hoisted up 28 threes in 1 game which we easily controlled the boards AKA the inside presence.

Will Egolf is getting some coverage in his hometown newspaper...

Egolf plays first game in Bradley loss

Juneau - Will Egolf saw four minutes of action on Saturday as Bradley University opened the regular season with an 84-75 loss to host University of Illinois-Chicago on Saturday.

Egolf didn't take a shot in four minutes off the bench.

Jeremy Crouch led the Braves with a 19 points while Daniel Ruffin added 14 points and Andrew Warren scored 12 points for the Braves.

Flames guard Josh Mayo led all players with 34 points, including three 3-pointers.

Tori Boyd scored 11 points and Spencer Stewart added 10 points for UIC.

Bradley makes its home debut Wednesday against Iowa State.

We are who we are. We would have lost by more if the game plan became getting the ball inside to Sam Singh and Matt Salley rather than continuing to shoot 3's (Jeremy Crouch did make 5 in a row, and we shot almost as bad with our 2 pt shots in the 2nd half, 37%). Our strength is our guards and the shooting of JC, Ruffin, Warren, Cole-Scott, and Maniscalco. If we have an off game, it's going to be a struggle. If we don't turn it over 22 times, we still win the game despite our poor shooting.

By the way...Josh Mayo got cheated.....as he did not win the Mid-Majority Player of the Week.

And ( a little consolation) Daniel Ruffin is presently leading the entire nation
in assists per game, four more than the nation's 2nd place guys (4 of them)
Louis Dale of Cornell
Jason Richards of Davidson
Zac Swansey of Georgia
Jat Greene of Maryland-Baltimore Co.

How's he doing in turnovers per game?

BradleyBrave... give me your guess on what the line will be. I used to look at the line a lot a couple years ago... and then a friend and I would then begin guessing what the line would be (and amazingly we got pretty good at it - though I am way outta touch now) and then based on what we thought the line should really be at... we would play the 'overlays' in our mind.

Best part about having a system is when the money is all gone... at least you still have your system.

LOL!

Anyway....

I will guess the line will be Bradley -6. In my mind, the line should really be Bradley -8 1/2. So if the actual line comes out Bradley -2, look out... I'm loading up the farm.

Tell me what you think.

BU at home is always a solid play, and usually gets the respect of the oddsmakers. Despite the loss, I think there will stlll be a degree of respect. I'll put the number at BU -5.

BTW - If you really want to make money on the Braves, check the over/unders. Last year, it took Vegas over half the season to figure out BU was going to put up a lot of points. If it's anything under 150, I would consider putting some money on it, especially in the non-con. It was 147 this past weekend.

Former Juneau players square off at Bradley

JUNEAU - A pair of former Juneau athletes will face off in an NCAA Division I men's basketball game today when Bradley hosts Iowa State.

The Cyclones (2-0) feature former Juneau resident Charles Boozer. The freshman guard, and brother of Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer, moved from Juneau in middle school. He currently averages 11 minutes per game for Iowa State and 2.5 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Braves (0-1) feature former Juneau-Douglas High School star Will Egolf. The 2007 JDHS graduate played four minutes in Bradley's season opening loss to University of Illinois-Chicago on Saturday.
