Next game Wed. 1/2/08 at Missouri State

If it's possible only a month and a half into a season, then this one is almost a must win for Bradley.

Now, I don't mean to say that the Braves could still not right the ship and make a late season run because they surely could. We all saw that during the Sweet Sixteen season. I am talking about more from a psychological point of view.

This team needs a W in the worst way possible. Unfortunately, so does Missouri State.

MSU has lost 3 games in a row as well, to Alabama, Purdue, and then Southern a few nights ago.

This game is going to be much much harder for the young Braves than UNI was. I think more than any other time in his tenure at Bradley, Jim Les is in the spotlight. Adversity hits everyone, and now its hitting BU. Coach Les and his staff must find a way to steal a road win here.

If they plan on having any chance at all to win this game then they are going to have to play a lot tougher and rebound as Missouri St. really goes to the glass as I saw them play against SIU.

I'm going to go with.....we have no chance of winning.

(that was the sound of me throwing my towel in)

We might as well just quit and forfeit the remainder of the season - no reason to play the games.

Speaking of BUbraves.tv......has anyone actually had any luck with it this year? I was a subscriber lasdt year, and it wasn't too bad. But this year, I cancelled because none of the games streamed through correctly.

I have no reason other than a gut feeling that a "breakout game" is about to happen to one or more of our juco tranfers. Or just solid games from several. The chance to shine in division one is in front of them. I bet the staff has been selling this idea to everyone all week. I think TCS will show us somthing tonight like how he averaged so many points in JC. I liked the open looks (although missed) that Crouch and Warren got when both SamM and TCS were on the floor. The dribble penetration can cause problems and leave people open. If like you said real fan some rebounds and put backs from Wilson, Austin, Collins along with what Matt can bring we have a chance. Imagine just a few rebound baskets in the first half the other night. I might just be a kool-aide drinker but there is too much talent left for these guys to lay down. Tonight they grow up and make their own identity without Ruff.

I agree that I think the JUCO's can have a break-out game, but they need to play significant minutes to make that happen. Probably my biggest criticism of JL this year is his sporadic substitutions, primarily with our JUCO players. I think EB is partly responsible for that as well. I think these guys can break out, but it's hard to break out or get any type of feel for the game when you're sitting on the bench.

I love your optimism! I need to start thinking more positively myself, but this has the makings of a rough game for 2 reasons:

1. I don't think we have anybody athletic enough to match up with Deven Mitchell. I think TW could hold him, but this means putting AW on a much stronger Lamberth who is MSU's 4 and then this becomes a matchup problem.

2. I think Drew Richards, their 6'10 C is ready for a breakout. In his 2 best games this year, he faced smaller defenses and was 8-8 and 7-7 from the field in those games. And after a disappointing outing vs SIU (0-2 FG, 0 pts) I think he'll have something to prove.

I think/hope we can do a good job holding their backcourt down because this might be the weakest backcourt in the conference. Their top 4 scorers are all from the frontcourt.

Personally, I think we lose this to their bigs.

IIRC, Drew Richards had his best game as a collegian against BU last year (16 points, 7 rebounds, 6-8 FG, 4-4 FT), and ironically it was on January 2. Don't like the sound of that!

Lets see JL is 0-5 all-time in Springfield.

Average losses by 13 points with the closest ever in his second season, a loss by 7. They have averaged 71 per game in their wins and we have put up an average of 58 a game.

I will be shocked if we are within 25 of them tonight.

They will get into the 80's and we will struggle to get to 60.

94-63 Missouri State

Yeah we need to start losing so we can get a better draft pick. Or is that not how college basketball works??? Might as well lose. I hear Skiles is available (and he would make an AWESOME college coach IMO).

Well, with Wichta St depleated for this Saturday's game, it would really be nice if Bradley could pull this game out tonight. It probably won't happen, but who knows. MSU is only a 5 point favorite. That's why they play the games. :)
