Not happy...

I have a gut feeling we are going to see a tremendous change and future at Bradley in the immediate future.

Are we making a coaching change? Adding football? Switching conferences? Getting a new logo? What is this change you are talking about!

Mostly on the development front. And with her push for making the U. a "brand", a logo will be forthcoming.

I also am pretty sure the carnival committees will be a thing of the past.

There is a new coach in volleyball. That much I know.

I wouldn't anticipate a coaching change until at the very earliest then of the 08-09 season, but if she feels it time to pull the trigger, she won't hesitate.

A little off subject but does anyone know how Bradley plans to deal with its sports programs after Robertson Memorial starts coming down in March? Offices, practice facilities, weight room........I can only assume the new facility will not be ready in time for womans fall sports?

or only recruit players with a minimum of 4 stars from Rivals ... (4 stars ride the bench waiting for an injury while 5 star guys get the playing time) :p

I honestly think if we go through another season like this next year, Les will be sitting on a very warm seat.

There are plans for everyone located in the Fieldhouse to be moved temporarily to other sites. Most have already been relocated.
The women's basketball team might need to find an alternate location to play their home games next season, and that has not yet been decided. The Riverplex, or a local high school have been mentioned

I believe that the men's practice facility will be one of the first completed parts of the new arena and should be a go by the start of practice next year.

As for volleyball and women's hoops, the Markin Center (which should be ready by fall) will have a "championship" intramural court with bleachers separate from its other courts that they can use on an interim basis. There has been some speculation that games may be played at a local high school or ICC, but to my knowledge there is no substance to that.

Although the longer the men's season goes with a potential NIT or CBI bid, the shorter time frame there is to work with.

Maybe she could make it a policy that we only recruit players from HS. We are a four year University. A lot of the top schools just go for the HS players and develop them.

Bad idea, you can't let a university president dictate your recruiting styles, if she needs to do something like that then she has the wrong person in that position.

Maybe thats the point squirrel was making.

I hate to say it but we do not deserve a postseason bid right now. The NIT always has 32 good basketball teams...this is currently not us. Our best win right now is probably Wright State on the road...nothing to hang your hat on. When you factor in losses to UIC, Indiana State, Witchita and UNI at home...and the list continues.....

1) Already one coaching change.
2) There have already been administrative changes.
3) There will in all likelihood be more administrative changes.
4) She is redirecting the upcoming development effort.
5) The fact she is a fan shows she understands the program's importance to the university's image and visibility.

As for your question Murph, I don't want to pretend to know what she's thinking, but. . .

She gets it. She has all the leadership qualities that have been evident in Bradley's former leaders that have led it to success through the years. I have a gut feeling we are going to see a tremendous change and future at Bradley in the immediate timeframe.

And knowing that makes me feel comfortable.

Just my 2 cents...

Administrative changes go with the territory of being a new president and putting people in place she is comfortable to work with on projects.

I dont know the specifics, but I would have to think that the coaching change may have been more Ken Kavanaughs thinking than from the new president. (nothing wrong in delegating authority but KK would have been much more in the know on this than the new Prez) Finally, I havent kept up with the redirection of the development effort so in fairness I cant have an opinion there.

So far she is a Bradley fan and is very visable. Not ripping the new Prez, but the book is still out on her.imo

I have tried to pull up the web cams for the construction on campus with little luck. Is everything on track and what is the current status of the facilities? Also, is the money there to complete everything?.........400.........

The money for the Markin Center is pretty much in place. The University won't announce more on the rest until late April.

It looks as though the amount of winter precipitousness may have pushed back construction on the recplex but I don't really know for sure.

Scouter there is something we can agree on! My guess unless one of our bigs really develops and RA plays the 4 he will be on the hot seat. The record will determine how hot that seat will be. The school does depend on certain boosters to contribute huge amounts of cash and even they as much as they like JL love to win first and foremost. Us little guys that may contribute a few dollars here and there are not going to influnce the Prez all that much.

I'd really like to see JL suceed because he does the right things but at the end of the day he needs to win big to keep his job.

Guess why Jim Les was not on his WMBD radio spot Wednesday night?
Dave Snell said he was going to a JUCO game.to scout a player.
Gees, he already has another JUCO coming in next year, Chris Roberts.
Now with the 2 remaining scholarships, he is looking for another JUCO!
I agree with most of you guys, you build a program basically with 4 year players, maybe 2-3 Jucos if needed, to fill roles..
.
Maybe he knows, it is to late to build a program. He needs to win now!
That is why he is out scouring the innards, out of cell phone contact, for yet another JUCO
Personally, I am JUCO'ed. out.

How soon we forget..............................

I'm happy with:

-- Competitive team each year with chance to surprise and advance
-- Exciting brand of basketball
-- Quality kids who graduate
-- Better than average team GPA versus competition
-- Well-spoken, respectful kids that show Bradley in a good light
-- Kids who generally stay out of trouble
-- Top home attendance numbers

Call me a sap, a homer, king kool-aid, or worse.........but I am not unhappy with the state of Bradley basketball. Sure, I'd like more wins, consistency, a conference championship, etc, etc. But again, I've been a Bradley basketball honk (that's for you Scouter ;) ) for over 30 years and have seen a lot of teams and Les' teams make me proud to be a Brave!

I'm with you Braves4Life. Let's for once look at the big picture! If we were an Ivy league school we would be doing cart wheels. Is Bradley about just winning now or doing it right.

I agree as well Braves4Life. Overall the program is heading in the right direction and things have certainly gotten better since Coach Les came to the Hilltop, with that said, the development of our program has brought raised expectations.

It can be about doing both. I mean is this were the expectaions have sunk to? Does Creighton have bad kids? I dont think they do and yet the manage to win every year. If we were an IVY league school we wouldnt have expectations like we do and we woulndt offer schlorships. Now imagine we played in the ACC.
