Not sure if this has been posted - Wilkins

If anyone still thinks that John Wilkins will be attending BU they need to wake up. This guy is looking everywhere but Peoria, IL for his college choice.

Good luck JW....we hardly knew ya!

thats nice....no mention of BU, JW doesn't act like a player who wants to come to BU IMO....to my knowledge he's only been to 1 BU game....that says a lot to me! Like how he doesn't return phone calls to Dave Reynolds and the PJS but does interviews bragging about indiana!

The nail is in the coffin on not coming to BU when he says "i'll probably make a decisions in the next month or so" after he brags about loving the Big 12 Conference as well as an offer from Indiana. Why would he make a decision in a month when he didn't want to decide on anything until his legal matters were settled? That legal matter excuse was just all BS. I hope Prosser and Milos are ready to contribute big time next season.

JW

if he wants to go to a big time school and maybe sit the pine like the rest of the group like matt at UI go but he would get more out of coming to mid major look at curry at davison and what he did and look at how much people were talking about him and espn was all over him. JW can be the man at bu but i would hate to see him go and not be the man at a big time school and then try to go somewhere he should have in the 1st place good luck if you don't come to bu but i wouldnt tease bu and have to play them down the road because it might be a tough place to play with all of us kool aid drinkers that want bu back to the teams they use to be back in the day

Haha I just read all the posts and thought he practically committed to iowa state, but then read the article and thought he was just answering questions asked to him. What's he going to say he hates the big 12? I like other conferences too, but I still like Bradley and the valley the best.

He wasn't asked a question about Bradley, so why would he mention it, and of course Iowa State won't mention it in their article when they are recruiting him. The only line that was any kind of bad sign was the one about Iowa State recruiting him the hardest.

I also wish the kid no harm if he goes elsewhere, it is his choice to make. No one should wish him harm. I hope he realizes how much we all really want him here though, he won't get that love elsewhere he will just be one of the guys, and he could be part of something special next year too.

i am sure he can go and play right away at those schools too maybe we should cheat like all the big time schools dick did it why not save a job and give the people what they want high flying dunks 3 point shooting and winning games with big time D but wait we need a big guy with some guns down low

This doesn't really surprise me. It always sounded to me like the only reason he verballed to BU was because he would have gotten to play last year. Since that didn't happen, I assumed that he would have no reason to come to BU. That's why many were particularly upset that the NCAA wouldn't get him qualified in time.

"According to Turner, Iowa State is right in the thick of things along with the Indiana Hoosiers. Iowa State has offered Wilkins, as have Providence, Bradley and Illinois State. Kansas State and Indiana are also showing heavy interest. Turner said that a future visit to Indiana is very much in the picture right now as well

Well we finally get to hear from John's own mouth. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but I didn't expect to see much about BU in an ISU article.

I really don't see him staying in Iowa to go to Iowa State. It's far from dad, in the middle of nowhere, and there are rumors about the staff there. I'm not sure how the rest of the team stacks up after Brackins is gone. The only attractive piece to me would be they just stomped BU and they developed a versatile big man in Brackins well. To me it would make a lot more sense to go to Indiana, be close to his dad, and have a great shot at immediate playing time. It also seems like a great option at BU. He would get immediate playing time, he's coming into a situation where pieces are in place for a good run next season, probably about as close to dad as IU, and he could takeover in the MVC in a year or two.

At this point in the game I'm sure JL and company know whether we are still an option or completely out of the picture. It's obvious with his visits and comments that he isn't committed to Bradley. I really want him here, but we are better off knowing this now so we can focus our efforts on the 2 scholarships we have open rather than chasing a dream. But, if that dream is still possible how could you not put on the full court press after this weekend?

Where did you see this?

I no longer get excited about a recruit til I actually see the player suited up at Bradley in Red/White and on the floor at Carver. I just cut the cord and don't get worked up over this guy or that guy and 'ifs and buts' anymore regarding recruiting. I have no emotion for it. They wanna play for Bradley - then they will.

Thankyou Grundy for burning Bradley and saving me a lot of pain and agony over recruits that never will or never did play for Bradley.

I was going to quote you but thankfully you chimed in! Ditto! BU would be the perfect situation for JW only if he can realize it.

Where is our moderator post telling us all is well?

OK, here it comes...
We are acting like Chicken Little here. I have heard good things about JW and he is still very much considering Bradley. Whenever he makes his decision, Bradley will be one of the final schools. He has not eliminated Bradley.
We have seen this phenomenon before, where an article from a BCS school site often completely ignores mentioning any midmajor school that a kid is interested in. They probably can't fathom that Bradley would still be on his list along with heavyweights like Iowa State, Indiana, Providence, etc.

In the end, Bradley is going to lose more recruiting battles than they win, but I'd advise not getting totally defeated until it actually happens. And it has not happened yet. Bradley is still in the mix. And I'd take comfort in the fact that Iowa State is a last place team, and there is solid talk about a coaching change there. Also, they have only 1 open scholarship (L.A. Pomlee's scholarship), and there are a couple other kids they seem to want more than John Wilkins. I am sure he sees that. The same is true with Indiana.
He knows he would get immediate playing time at Bradley. He knows the Bradley coaches have been recruiting him the longest, and did the most work on his behalf to try to get all his transcripts, and appeal to the NCAA for eligibility. He has been in contact continuously with the BU coaches.
I still think the recruiting news will be good.
