Offers for 2027

I have been a fan farther back than Andrews. Did we actually renew our offer to Allen or is this the one we offered in October last year? I figured he was waiting for a higher offer (NIL) since he he decided to go back to JC.

Very few recruiting moves are actually “official” but I have to think our staff would still want him, altho his decision to go back to Mineral Area is unusual. It’s either an academic issue or as you say he wants to go higher
But it still makes little sense since he could easily go DI somewhere & get paid then go higher next year if the opportunity presents. He sure isn’t getting NIL at juco.

Actually, top jucos do pay NIL money, though usually much less than a D1; I know Mineral Area has a collective that pays all players equal amounts. It's also possible for them to hook players up with a local sponsor in order to pay additional money.

2027 Offers
Lyris Robinson - now getting some really high level offers- and playing well this summer
Johnny Lackaff - having a very good summer - LINK -- LINK
Cooper Zachary- playing very well and getting several glowing writeups
Deuce McDuffie - likewise playing well this summer - LINK -- LINK
Nazir Allen - LINK - will be playing at Mineral Area College again in 2026-27
Will Powers
There's been no mention of any contact between Bradley & Cooper Zachary since last fall, and in the meantime Bradley
landed point guards Georgi & Dimitrije, so I wonder if BU is still on him- especially since he's been posting several
posts lately about official visits to Cal Baptist, Evansville, & Penn

Hopefully Richardson will be back for another year. That would give us 3 point guards but following the pattern that is not likely.

Bradley hanging in there with the big boys

Do you think we have any shot at landing Lyris?

If you’re asking me, I wouldn’t give up on him.
He has 25 offers & Bradley isn’t the least appealing...

Lyris Robinson's current NATIONAL RANKINGS:
Rivals:
No. 49 overall, No. 15 at his position
ESPN: No. 56 overall, No. 10 at his position
Prep Hoops: No. 75 overall nationally
247Sports: No. 84 overall, No. 10 at his position

Tom Payne's story is a sad one. He only played one year at Kentucky (1970-71). -
College Stats- https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/tom-payne-1.html

He averaged 16.9 ppg and 10.1 rpg. He got into trouble after that year with expensive gifts, including a car, that were from an ABA team to lure him to the ABA. Also, his grades were poor, and he believed he would not be eligible the next year, so he left after that one season to enter the NBA Supplemental Draft ("Hardship Draft") in 1971. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the #2 overall pick in the 1st round. Payne played only one season in the NBA, 1971-72- 29 games, and averaged 4.1 ppg & 2.4 rpg.

After his rookie year he was arrested and convicted of rape in both Georgia and Kentucky. He spent over 40 years in prison and never returned to playing basketball.

Article from 2020 about Tom Payne

Tom Payne lives now in Michigan and has founded an organization that helps young men succeed in life-

Getting back to our topic of 2027 guys who Bradley had offered..........
A recent Indy Star column on Cooper Zachary, who Bradley offered way last year - says he has either taken or is lining up
or planning visits to the following schools -
...Evansville (July 22-23), Cal Baptist (July 24-26), Florida Gulf Coast (Aug. 21-23), Ball State (Aug. 28-30), and "in September or October
- Kent State, Air Force, Holy Cross and Purdue Fort Wayne
." No mention of Bradley, so I think our staff has dropped off.

Some may recall, that last fall, in an interview, Cooper Zachary said he was going to visit Bradley in October, 2025, and
attend the Bradley Red-White Scrimmage
. However, he was not in attendance, but current Belmont Bruin Cooper Knowles was.
