Oklahoma State releases their non-conference schedule- BU to play Wofford & Presbyterian

Bradley's opponent on November 27 in Las Vegas, Oklahoma State has released their non-conference schedule. They have a few cupcakes, including the 2 early games in the Las Vegas tournament. They play Seattle and Southern University. That means Bradley will get Wofford and Presbyterian (see below).

Since Utah released their non-conference schedule last month, and they are scheduled to play Seattle and Southern University in their 2 home games that are part of the Las Vegas Invitational.--

That means that Bradley and Illinois will get the other 2 schools, Wofford College and provisional D1 school Presbyterian College as their 2 home games. Bradley will play them on Sunday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 24.--

The Wofford College Terriers of Spartanburg, SC, were 16-14 overall last year, but they were 12-8 in the Southern Conference. They had only 1 senior last season, and they return their top 9 scorers from last year.-

The Presbyterian College Blue Hose, of Clinton, SC, are a transitional D1 school. They competed in the Big South Conference last year. They were 12-17 overall, and 9-9 in the Big South (tied for 5th). They return 8 of their top 10 scorers from last year.

Thanks Coach.As you have said, these 2 teams Wofford and Presbyterian might be the best 2 to draw, so Bradley did OK.Wofford was RPI 172 last year and has everyone coming back and should be the best of the 4 traveling teams in the LV tournament.Presbyterian will be a weaker team, but they won't count against Bradley's RPI.Southern had a RPI of 336 out of 343 last year and won't be much better this year.It's good that we avoided them.Seattle starts it's first year with a full D1 schedule this fall, though they won't be eligible for the postseason tournament until 2013.
 
Before everybody starts ripping Wofford, IMO, they are about as good an opponent as you can get for this type of event.

They were 16-14 last year and the SoCo has gotten better on the back of Curry the last couple years, and should be a much higher rated RPI league this year.

Wofford also has a junior in Noah Dahlman who had the 18th best overall ORtg, 38th best OR%, and 23rd lowest TORate. . .and he's tough to guard, drawing 6+ fouls/40 min. . .in short he's a more prolific version of Theron Wilson. Should be a treat to watch him.
 
Correct me if I am wrong, but Presbyterian isn't a 'provisional' school is it? They did participate in a conference last year and did have an RPI. I don't recall SIU-E having either one.
 
Yes, the Blue Hose are a provisional. They are in the Big South Conference. They could actually do reasonably well in the league this year, as from what I've heard they have a tremendous recruiting class coming in, and were .500 last year.

Macabre can probably clarify for us, but even though they are listed on Palm's site, I was thinking they were a school that wasn't officially counted in the ranking. I may be wrong.

Even so, if they played a full DI and league schedule last year, they will count this year.
 
I think we will have our hands full with both of these teams espically wofford and I'm just glad we get them at home...

Noah Dahlman is the younger brother of Isaiah Dahlman who will be a senior at Michigan State this year. Both are from Braham, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. They won the state championship in 2005, the same year that Ray Brown lead his Richland team to 2nd place in a different class.
Isaiah was considered a better player and got many high major offers. Noah is a late bloomer and was Wofford's leading scorer with 17.8 ppg as a sophomore last season. He is not a perimeter player, and did not make any three-pointers last year (0-4). However, keep in mind the SoCon is not near the MVC in quality of opponents, and defenses.

I don't know about the SoCon not being near the MVC in quality of opponents and defenses. They feature two teams Davidson and Charleston who could have won the MVC and another Chattanooga who could have given any MVC team a run for the money...
 
The SoCo lacks quality depth. . .but it returns a ton this year across the board.
And there is some awful good coaching in the league, right now, IMO.

The Citadel could've gone toe-to-toe with most in the Valley too.

Da Coach is right though, that overall the defenses aren't stifling.

Wofford plays big, but they don't have overwhelming size. They are sort of a poor man's Oakland.

That's a style that poses problems for BU.

Sorry, I don't think I can agree. Davidson may have given the MVC a run, but in the end, even Davidson, which was the jewel of the SoCon the last couple years finished with an RPI of 69, which would have ranked just 4th if in the MVC.
And I can't quite buy that Charleston would have won the MVC. Their RPI last year was 102, worse than Bradley, and worse than half the MVC.
Chattanooga had a terrible RPI of 174. They looked good in the SoCon, only because they played against the really weak North Division that didn't have another team with an RPI better than 189.
In all, the SoCon had 6 teams with RPIs significantly worse than the last place team in the MVC.

wow- the name Isaiah Dahlman brings back memories of the hype suurounding him...
there was an all out recruiting battle between Michigan State, Minnesota (Jim Molinari was assistant there), Iowa, and even Illinois, BC, & Georgia Tech.
The kid was ranked 4-STAR and Top 100 (#64 nationally by scout.com)...and yet has had a kinda disappointing career at Michigan State.
Each year there his numbers go down...

This may be yet another good example of a kid who aimed too high....surely he wants to play more,
He should have gone to a smaller school! He was rated almost precisely the same as Jason Bohannon as was an extremely similar player with almost identical record scoring numbers in high school.
Jason, who went to Wisconsin, has played a ton since his freshman year and is a full time starter
since he was a soph and plays the most minutes of anyone on the Badgers.

Presbyterian counted in the RPI last year.

(SIU-e and Seattle did not)
 
As like most low-major leagues, the SoCon had a strong Davidson team (they would've won the MVC, IMO), a couple solid teams that could've finished 4th-5thish in the MVC....and 7 or 8 teams that anyone in the MVC could beat up on.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if we did indeed have our hands full but if we do, the season will be nowhere near my expectations or hopes. It's games like this that we need to win and win big if we are in fact a good team. We can build them up as much as we want, and I'm sure they will be solid teams but like I said, it is what it is, and if we lose it means we aren't where we should be.
