Is today not one month until the red white scrimmage? I would love to be there but I am sure our local posters will do their normal great reporting job!!! Lets get it started.
 
That is correct, October 26th at 6:30. I really expect big things this year and can't wait for the first oppurtunity to see the guys play together. This season will also be the farewell tour for the Fieldhouse, which is kind of sad.

I am thinking of buying the Fieldhouse and renovating it for use as an airplane hangar.
Has anyone else noticed how much its construction resembles an old airplane hangar?

Good thought! In fact, there were a number of arenas built using surplus WWII era airplane hangars. They were sold for a low price, and were sturdy buildings and could be dissassembled and moved relatively easily. I don't think there are many left in existence, and I don't know of any Div 1 basketball team that has played in one for decades. They would all be 60+ years old now, and have been replaced by more modern facilities.

Here is a story about Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, that still uses a similar building that was built from an old military warehouse with a "hangar" design--

Here is a story about the University of Denver which recently demolished their WWII era hangar that was home to their hockey team from 1947-1996. They recently constructed a new hockey arena--

Auburn played in The Sports Arena, also known as "The Barn" until it burned down in 1996. It was also constructed of surplus hangars.

There were many others used by colleges and even high schools, but nearly all have been replaced by now.--

What about the University of Minnesota? I know their arena is called The Barn and from what I've seen on tv, never having been there it ceratinly looks like it could be similar to these other places.

U of Minnesota plays in Williams Arena. It looks similar to the "airplane hangar" design, but it looks like it was built in 1927-1928, well before the surplus hangars arenas. It has to be one of the oldest arenbas still in use by a major university, almost 80 years old.--

That one at Minnesota is the only one I know of.

The BU women, of course, also play on a raised floor for 1 more season at Robertson.
 
This is going to be my first red/white scrimmage this year. Can you guys fill me in on details? When can we get tickets for the scrimmage? I already paid for my student season tickets, but will I have to get a red/white ticket the day of the scrimmage?

just get to the Fieldhouse 1/2 hour before and it will be easy to get tickets and then just look for the best looking group of fans, some will be wearing BradleyFans.com T-shirts,
and they will all look intelligent and wise.
Generally we sit behind the benches a short distance up in the stands.
Feel free to introduce yourself, but it isn't required.

If I can make it, I will be the dorky lookin guy... most likely with my 4yr old daughter (in awe of the cheerleaders... having to go potty... hungry for chips... thirsty... tired and ready to go home... all before the men's team hits the floor).

So much for what YOU'RE nite will be like...what about your daughters. BTW nothing wrong with admiring the cheerleaders.
