Anyone else feeling like a Beacons fan tonight?

Valpo is no pushover on their home court and are playing better than early in the season. SIU needs to go down tonight. Then SIU, so despondent from the two straight losses, is thrashed by Bradley on their home court the following game. The end.

Love it.

I hope Valpo plays like this when Bradley visits. They stink.

I can't remember watching a team that has less player movement on their offensive end than Valpo does. So far, on most offensive possessions, there is very little movement other than the ball handler. That makes then easier to guard, especially by a good defensive team like SIU, and forces a lot of one-on-one play. No wonder they managed only 19 points in the first half.

Valpo went ahead 49-48 briefly, but now SIU has scored 11 straight points to take a 59-49 lead with 3 minutes left in the game.

SIU had a much better start in this game, 8-0, then they did in their last game against Drake, down 16-0 and 22-2. Valpo tied it once in the first half at 12 with 9:10 left then SIU outscored them 15-7 to lead at the half 27-19. Valpo slowly cut into the Salukis lead until they got their only lead of the game off a Kenny King layup with 5:48 left. An 11-0 2 1/2 minute run gave SIU a lead they wouldn't relinquish. SIU had 7 guys score 6 or more points on 24-50 shooting, 2-14 from 3. Clarence Rupert led the dogs with 14. King and Ben Krikke each had 24 for Valpo on a combined 16-30 shooting, The rest of the team combined for 5-20 shooting and the team was just 2-14 from 3.
