OT: He is coming...

Carmelo Anthony will be a FA next year! The core players are very young and if they can pick up Korver this year, start building a decent bench I'd have to say they will be one of the top 4 teams in the East right now and in a few years the sky is the limit.
 
Sox won again...Danks pitches a gem - he also recently outdueled Strasburg..
funny how well the Sox are doing and nobody seems to notice and you can't find any of them on the AS team (except Thornton)

Not to take anything away from Danks, but he didn't outduel Strasburg. A matter of fact, he didn't even face Washington.

Same thing with the Padres. They have the 2nd best record in the NL and are leading the NL West by 2 games. They had 1 all-star (Ad Gonzalez). And just recently got a 2nd one in Health Bell, who is on the roster ONLY because Milwaukee's Gallardo is injured.
 
Having a bunch of solid everyday players that you love to root for is so much better then a bunch of over paid prima-donas no matter what and when they are winning who cares about the All Star game. I'm sure management is just fine that their guys are going to take a little break before the 2nd 1/2.

I would rather the team that I love win. As long as it is done within the rules, I don't care how they do it.

I did word my statement incorrectly. Yes winning is what counts but if I could chose how it would be, it would be with a blue collar type team. Who cares about the All Star game. The World Series is a totally different event.
 
I have two words for LeBron after what he pulled tonight: Good Riddance!

For the "Eastern Seaboard Programming Network" to display this amount of grandstanding, and for LeBron to hold everyone hostage for a week before he proclaimed his Decision wreaks of desperation for attention! And for ESPN to participate in this, well all I can say is they set tv viewing back 100 years! Since when did ESPN become Reality TV Network #2?!

Having said all this, I think the Bulls have a very solid team that just needs a few pieces to be filled for them to be contenders in the East even without LeBron. And I'm not all that upset that LeBron is not coming here. But I'm not sold on Miami becoming the defacto champions either as they have absolutely no supporting players to complement their "three-headed monster". I think the Bulls have much more upside potential and I hope this all blows up in the face of LeBron!

A couple of great shooters should position the Bulls for a top 3 finish in the east with the potential for higher finishes in upcoming years. And the Bulls even have a great shot of obtaining ex all-Valley player Kyle Korver in the very near future!

The Bulls are a default top 3 seed in the east for the foreseeable future. Their division is awful. We've got over $16 million still to spend/take on. Time to get active putting together the best team top to bottom in the East.

That's right. That's why they play the games. And I'm not sold on Miami at all! You are definitely right BradleyBrave. The Bulls could very well be the best top to bottom team in the east if they spend the rest of their money correctly. Miami may have the best top heavy team in the league, but they have absolutely nothing beyond that. I think a balanced team from top to bottom will beat a team with a great core but nothing else around it more often than none. So I'm looking forward to the upcoming Bulls season if for nothing else but to see Miami fall flat on their face! :D

10. Let's say LeBron signs with Miami. Can you even make the Finals with LeBron, Bosh, Wade and nine minimum-salary guys? Because that might be next year's team ??¦ and if that's what happens, the answer is "no effing way." You don't win titles just because of your top three. That belittles the meaning of guys like Derek Fisher, Robert Horry, Steve Kerr, John Paxson, Brian Shaw ??¦ you could go on for hours naming role players who swung a title. The 2008 Celts lucked out by getting James Posey, Eddie House and P.J. Brown for practically nothing; Miami wouldn't have that luxury this summer, not with so many role players jockeying for contracts one year before the possible lockout. Nobody is taking less money to showcase themselves for a summer that might not happen. Even if Miami could spin Michael Beasley for a fourth guy (say, Trevor Ariza), that's still not enough. They'd need one more rebounder, point guard, a 3-point shooter and a center. Good luck.

About 42-44 minutes for 100 games ??¦ and if anyone missed an extended stretch of games, then that would put even more pressure on the other two. Crazy. No way they win more than 50, especially with teams gunning for them every night. LeBron would have to accept becoming Mega-Pippen to Wade's Jordan. (Yeah, right.) Even during the final quarter of the 2008 gold-medal game, when everyone on the American team was staring at each other wondering who was going to step up against a red-hot Spain team, there were a few minutes of tentative, "I don't want to step on anyone's toes here" basketball before Kobe said, "Screw it, get out of my way" and took over the key portion of the game.
Well, at some point, Wade and LeBron will have one of those 2008 Spain moments ??¦ but what happens if both guys say, "Screw it, get out of my way"? You need to have a special type of mentality to want that moment; that's why Scottie Pippen melted down in that 1994 Bulls-Knicks playoff game, because Phil Jackson had spent that entire year building him up and making him think, "We can win without Jordan, you're just as good, we can DO THIS," then designed the biggest play of the season for someone else. It was a slap in the face. Pippen reacted terribly, but still, don't you want him to be pissed there? Isn't that what being an alpha dog is all about? Don't you need a special level of swagger and confidence to carry that load every night? And once you reach that level, doesn't it become impossible to share the spotlight with someone else? Of course ??¦
