So college football has an undefeated team that doesn't even get considered for the national title because they are not in a hyper-protected "Power 5" conference. Yet they just beat one of the Power 5's best.
Sound familiar, college basketball fans?
What would generate immense interest in the College Football Playoff would be to pick the best three Power 5 teams and give the fourth spot to an outside team if it had an undefeated season. Fans love David vs. Goliath games. But like in college basketball, where highly rated mid-major teams either don't get an invitation to the Big Dance or get ridiculous seeds, it's not about the fans, but $omething else.
