I just read that Wichita will play at Texas Tech this year, and Evansville just signed a 3 year deal with North Carolina.
Anyone have thoughts on a big name team we may see this year on our schedule?

With our Texas connections and Turgeon at Texas A&M it wouldn't surprise me to see them on our schedule within the next year or two.

With 2 players from Texas one from Fort Worth and one from here in Houston and another from Louisiana a game in Texas would be great. I have a hard time seeing Turgeon giving BU a return game and I also have a hard time seeing Penders going to Peoria, so I would think a game versus SMU, Rice or TCU as a good option. University of Houston would be the best option.

Of course Texas or A&M would be preference but that would only be if we are not looking for a return game, I can not see how either would ever come to Peoria.

On a side note it was discussed here about BU's schedule for this season which I know is not finalized but I think there might be a game on the weekend before Christmas in Peoria. Can someone please confirm this????

SIU is playing at Nevada too.
I really hope we get some decent schools this year on the schedule to boost our RPI. I really doubt Virginia would want anything to do with us this year.:-D

Our schedule now needs a lot of work. If Evansville can get UNC, then we have to do better as well. Ken and the staff, however, are very reluctant to get us in buy-game situations without a return. I personally feel we should sell ourselves out for a one and done on the road at a duke or wherever, just to get the SOS boost and some cash. Playing E. Tenn St, a weak Butler squad this year, and more cupcakes isn't going to get it done. Playing Mich St alone will not be enough to overcome a weaker conference this year and soft non-con.

Again, I agree with fanatic. There's no shame in a 'buy' game with UNC, Duke, Florida, or UCLA. I don't want to play Kansas because I like our undefeated record against them (2-0), but I have no problem going and taking a beating from any of the other teams I mentioned. It looks great on the SOS and would make for a fun road trip. Heck, we have enough talent that maybe we could even make a little game of it.

This isn't as easy as you think. If a school like Duke wants to add a "buy game", they will just add another North Carolina Central or Winston-Salem State. They only want to buy home games they know they can win. Majors do not tend to buy games from high-mids like Bradley because they don't like to risk losing them. That's why there are so few of those types of deals made.

It's a 2 for 1 deal, and it obviously has something to do with the recruitment of Ty Zeller, and the fact that Evansville isn't as much of a threat to upset North Carolina. If UE was in the same situation as Bradley, there is no way North Carolina would schedule them.

Very true, however I have heard from some BU folks that they don't want to set the precedent of BU being a 'buy' game candidate. They, along with a lot of other MVC schools, believe they're above the 1 game 'buy' status like a lot of the low mids. While I do agree that we probably are, there are times we may need to bite the bullet and put ourselves out there. Unfortuantely this may be one of those years.

Bradley has done the buy game in recent years, but I know they don't want too many of those. And they did a similar thing by accepting the 2 for 1 deals they had with Michigan State and Iowa State. There were some who criticized those moves and thought that Bradley shouldn't lower itself to that.

I wholeheartedly support 2-for-1 with the big boys. I don't view those deals as 'lowering' themselves at all (especially since the Iowa St deal included a neutral site game which BU won). I think those who criticized BU for agreeing to the deals with Michigan St and Iowa St have forgotten that despite all of our (the MVC's) national success over the years, we're still largely perceived as a 2nd tier conference. Thus, BCS teams just aren't going to schedule the home-and-home with a school from a 2nd tier league. There's just not much of a benefit for them in it. Guys like Tom Izzo who will take his team on the road are few and far between these days. If BU can get 2-for-1's with top 15 programs every year, I say take it every time.

It also gives Carolina the chance to say that hey, we're not afraid of the Valley, we scheduled a squad from that league!
