Outcoached.

It is simple. We lost a very winnable game because we were outcoached. Not only do we have a lackluster head coach, we have no assistants to back him up. Jim Les, in his usual glory, failed to call a timeout at least twice in the first half when we were on our heels, and at least once in the second half... And then we let WE sit and play perennial non-factor SS instead. Not happy with the game, not happy with the program. Eagerly awaiting a change. Anyone else agree before this post gets deleted?

i thought we should have called time-out during the latter stages of the game. how many time-outs did we leave?

Just 1 timeout leftover, but the staying in the zone I do NOT understand. Creighton was owning that 3-pointer tonight. Maybe it was because CR was hurt for a bit and he didn't feel Eastman could handle his man man-to-man. I dunno, I feel like that's digging pretty deep to make excuses.

Don't have to dig as deep to make the ref excuse, the ref with the bad comb-over looking piece of business "scored" at least 6 on us, if not more. Still, had it too close to let it get away.

Sam Singh led both teams with 7 rebounds filling in for WE in the first half. He also played good defense on Lawson and his help defense was good.

Les was fine in this game. The zone defense is silly, but they also don't usually make that many 3s. Some of it is bad luck.

Just jump already.

It's funny how these go away when we win for a while, then as soon as we lose, BANG! Fire coach les, this program has no direction, and on and on and on:roll:

no, trust me... I am on the anti-JL bandwagon regardless of the record. In order for Bradley to be truly successful, we need a HEAD COACH. Not a player reliving the glory days.

Is one of the worst 8 year stretches in program history acceptable to you?

He didn't come in to an already built program though, so it would take some time to build and with the gradual process we aren't back there yet but I think we are getting there with a bright future. So yes when taking that he came to the program while it was "in a bad stretch" yes it is to me considering the circumstances. And no I don't think 8 years is too long to build it before you ask.

Exactly. We had a few calls go against us, but thus is the norm. With mediocre coaching, that becomes a nonfactor.

YEah see other thread. I equated effect of awful reffing against mind-boggling zone choice. I don't agree with you that Les is a bad coach, but I think he overdoes it against Dana. Feel like I've been here before.

IMO I can't see how leaving timeouts in your pocket when you have one possession is acceptable!!!!!!!!!!! what is the reasoning for not calling a timeout? oh ok the defense can get set up...bull****ing****. I'll take a set play to free up AW or SM and have a plan B guy any day then a desperate contested rushed shot.

we had 2 chances with AW in the corner and SM at the end...we had to figure out something (a timeout would have done this)

can someone explain why i am wrong?

Eh...You do realize there was an NBA player on the roster and 3 Juniors who played in the MVC title game as Freshman, right?

It's not like he inherited the SMS mess that Martin got, or the mess that Gregg Marshall inherited at Shockerville.

I was unable to see the game tonight, but after reading about the poor officiating I looked at the box score. BU shoots 25 FT and Creighton shoots 12.
The foul disparity was similar. Just curious what was so bad about the officiating?

The refs ALLOWED Creighton to hit 12 uncontested 3's against BU....dang those refs!!!!

I still wouldn't say the program was solidly built, like it is not like he inherited a team coming off a bunch of NCAA tourny bids. Also it takes time to get your own players so they buy into your system, plus Granger transferred that year so I don't count him

The 12 3's were not uncontested. About 3 of them were, rest were competently defended-- guys, the defensive effort was pretty much there tonight.

fan-- the refs were bad because of what kind of fouls they called. There were two just absolutely ridiculous charges. One where there wasn't a player even in front of our guy going to the basket-- The CU player literally laid out across the back of our driving player, and somehow that was a charge. There was about a 9-pt ref-related CU bonus tonight-- and all the calls were by the same guy (not sure who it was, will have to check statsheet later).
