Just to change the subject a little-
A Packers fan working at a suburban Chicago car dealership was fired because he would not remove his Green Bay Packers tie.

He was given 5 warnings that he would be fired if he didn't remove the tie, and he refused. The car dealership has an advertising partnership with the Bears, and the salesman says that if he had known that, he would not have worn the tie.

seems to me it was poorly handled all the way around. I would have told the salesman...do you really think it's appropriate to wear a Packer tie in the middle of Bears city.....people don't need much of reason not to buy cars right now...so why do anything that might offend a prospective buyer.....not a smart move by the salesperson and the GM could have handled it better too.....of course I would have let him wear it here being the Packer fan I am.....and if he continues to sell alot of cars

Just heard him being interviewed on ESPN. He told a different version. Some people take sports way too seriously.

I don't know that he's a tool....but it seems he mishandled it....I think he should explain why it's not a good idea to wear the tie and maybe the salesman would have understood...instead of just saying you are fired if you leave the tie on.

People are too serious about their sports and some rivalries.........I could see this happening if it was say the red sox and yankee fans involved.

Well maybe someone should have talked to Drew Brees earlier this year about not playing on an mcl sprain. Brees played most of the 2010 season and a playoff game with a mcl sprain albeit the sprain was probably not as bad as Cutler's. However, Brees ran the risk of stability issues, mobility, and further damage to his knee and still went out on the field to quarterback his team. With an MCL sprain, Brees threw 33 touchdown passes and had a 90.9 quarterback ranking for the year. On the other hand, Cutler was strong enough to go out to dinner hours after his MCL sprain. To say the least, that was not a very smart move by Cutler.

Again, people have different thresholds of pain. Brees was probably playing on a grade 1 MCL sprain. That means the ligament was just stretched. A grade 2 sprain which is what Cutler had means there is a partial tear. A grade 3 sprain means the ligament is completely torn. A grade 2 sprain is probably the toughest to deal with, because it is still attached but is also torn. It depends on how torn it is, because grade 2 just means it is partially torn, which means it could have a small tear or it could be barely still attached. A grade 2 tear almost always comes with at least a partial tear in the meniscus as well, which is the cushion you have between your femur and your tibia.

I still dont see how going out to dinner with his girlfriend has any relevance on if he should have played or not?

I know how hard it is to move around on a bad knee and will not question Cutler's toughness. My question is to the coaching staff. Why leave Cutler out to dry for 24 hours? Why not come out right after the game and say what you did yesterday. The visual of Cutler up walking around, still wearing his pads, no crutches, nothing wrapped up....I can see where Bears fans would be wondering why he isn't playing.

The bears staff and players did have his back in the presser following the game BDS.....I would imaine they wanted to wait for the med reports before going any further...kinda like what the Big mouth fans and TV guys (not you) should have done before they go spewing hate without all the facts.....

Sorry Dogs, but the Bear fans are the ones complaining about their QB not playing. The fan burning a Cutler jersey wasn't a Packer fan. I believe if he was able to play he would have. No sense hurting your team by trying to play on one leg.

Boycott? The only people who will boycott are Packer fans, who are probably outnumbered by Bears fans 100 to 1 in that area. Right or wrong, this will most likely be a boon to their business.

Good for him and his business. I would never want to give money to a person who fired a guy for liking another team. This comes down to a power play by a fan who is P'Oed about his team losing.

This is outrageous. We may as well live in a communist country if you are going to fire a guy for this.

His tie was not profane or lewd. Give me a break.

Brees played 6 weeks with a torn mcl.....

Cutler is no where NEAR Jeff george. Cutler is respected by his teammates AND the coaching staff....Cutler doesn't whine about loses being the O Lines fault or anybody elses.

JG complained about everything...team mates hated him and he was bad for team chemistry everywhere he played.

Just becuase JC doesn't kis the meida's but and isn't a good interview it says NOTHING about him ON the field.

THe guy got sacked 50 times this year and never ONCE did he point fingers or complain after the game.....and after the Pack los he stood there and answered every question even though I wouldn't have balmed him to tell the media to kiss off.

I know, but you mentioned "Bear Haters", and Bear fans were most vocal about not believing the extent of the injury, burning his jersey etc. The really dumb ones are the other players in the NFL who are tweeting.

The salesman was told 3 times to take the tie off. Once as the employees were joking around. Another time when he was with a customer. Finally he was told "Take your tie off or you're f'ing fired!".

The dealership screamed at him and cussed him out.

If he finds a good lawyer he'll end up owning that dealship and can fire the crybaby that couldn't get over the loss.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.
