The Warriors (1-6) received expected contributions - 21 points, 12 assists and a career-high five blocks from Baron Davis - and an absolutely out-of-the-blue boost from backup center Patrick O'Bryant. He played more than nine minutes in the third quarter, after Biedrins collected his fourth foul. And the tall, thin kid who has done little to earn the trust of Warriors brass - hence, the club's decision not to pick up the option on Bryant's contract for next season - suddenly looked useful.

He blocked Chris Kaman's shot.

He scooped up Davis' missed free throw and scored.

He took a pass from Barnes and threw down a resounding dunk.

O'Bryant not only finished the game with a career-high 10 points, he also pumped energy into the crowd and sparked Golden State's telling third-quarter surge. The Clippers had closed within two points (72-70), but O'Bryant helped the Warriors move ahead by nine (96-87) heading into the fourth quarter.

Many of the 19,596 spectators gave O'Bryant a standing ovation when he fouled out with 7:42 left in the game. O'Bryant was so flush with good vibes afterward, he dared to wonder if his breakout game had earned some elusive trust from Nelson.

"I think he might like me a little more now," O'Bryant said.

Nelson was hardly ready to declare O'Bryant the second coming of Bill Russell, but the coach offered encouraging words for his young 7-footer.

"Best game he's played, no question," Nelson said. "A couple of guys gave him really nice passes, but he was active and used his length. He looked like a player, didn't he?"
 
Bradley's other NBA player, Anthony Parker, had 15 points, 5 rebounds in Toronto's 110-101 win over the Indiana Pacers. Danny Granger, playing the 2-guard position, had 12 points and 8 rebounds.--

Good for PO'B........remember he is on an open tryout for every team in the league now.....games like this could get him onto a team with a need for a center and a real coach IMO!:mrgreen:

Great job by Patrick. A couple of things though. Patrick's statement about now maybe he'll like me doesn't sound like something that would endear him to the coach. I can understand why he's frustrated but I hope it wasn't meant like it sounded or it won't help his cause. I can't understand why they wouldn't be giving him a try as bad as they've been.
I completely disagree about Nelson not being a real coach though. I think he's one of the best coaches in the game.
 
Didn't he also foul out in 12 minutes of play though? Yahoo box score shows 6 fouls in 12 minutes yet he showed what he can give if he can just stay out of the dang foul trouble. I'm hoping a new coach on a different team can solve this only flaw at the NBA level.

Yes, unfortunately, he wasn't able to stay in the game because of fouls. But he got a standing ovation from the home fans as he left the court. Probably the first standing ovation he's had since the Bradley fans gave him one at the post-season banquet in April, 2006.
 
Does anyone know what kind of fouls he's committing? If it's on the defensive end, maybe he can just be less aggressive yet produce on the offensive end. Sort of like an Eddy Curry.

On every Bay Area TV Sports news cast was led with POB dunking. This area follows pro-hoops much more then college.

On another note, I think Nellie is one hell of a coach, the question is how he motivates players. He's considred old school and to some that rubs them the wrong way. POB has shown flashes of potential but for a pro coach he needs immediate and consistant contribution. I do not blame Nellie. It's his job to try and win night in and night out. It's POB's job to be a consistant force out there day in and day out. Nellie has shown that he can produce a winner POB has shown that he has work to do to be a go to guy day in and day out. 12 minutes does not make a star.

I really hope that is a joke about Curry. Have you ever heard of the Curry Line? "The Eddy Curry Line was originally established to put a spotlight on how truly anemic Curry's overall fantasy line is. The standard: a player must average more turnovers than assists, steals, and blocks combined." He also got out rebounded by Boykins in a game. The only way that I hope POB is similar to Curry is in his next contract.

POB has a good shot at improving this year and catching someone's eye-particularly if GS keeps getting worse. The team could quickly become the Hawks with everyone auditioning. I would love to see him on the Bulls at some point, but I doubt he would get much PT there.
 
Speaking of it, I think a guy like POB could be great for the Bulls. I've been trying to watch them, but it's like pulling teeth. They have four guys wandering around the perimeter and if the shots aren't going down they just get owned. I love Ben Wallace's game, but he's a forward,and is pretty lacking offensively. I think an offensive center who can play with his back to the basket could be a huge help to a team like the Bulls.

I just don't think he would play over Tyrus, Noah, or Gray (eventhough he lit up Gray). He probably has the best offensive game of the 3 since Noah has 0 FGs this season and Tyrus can't shoot to save his life. Gray isn't getting PT so he's kind of a mystery. The Bulls do need inside scoring badly, but POB would be a pure project for them right now. They also really need a veteran scorer IMO. There doesn't seem to be great leadership on their team right now.
 
Maybe I'm just hopeful so I can watch him play, but I a feeling POB may end up in Charlotte. Rumor has it they'll be looking for a big man soon.
 
Yeah that is quite odd, even Matt Barnes didn't play and he was doing better over the last few games. I think the return of Jackson had some affect but they both should of got a few minutes of playing time.
