Pick-em for the Southern Miss Game on Saturday

For the college hoops junkies, Reinhardt College is a United Methodist Church-affiliated school in Waleska, Georgia (45 miles north of Atlanta). Spring Hill College is a Jesuit school based in Mobile. Belhaven College is a Christian school in Jackson, Mississippi. And of course, Southern-N.O. is in Louisiana. My picks:

81 and 41%

That's odd that you're making fun of our schedule. I was thinking that Bradley was just another NAIA or Division III school. I've never even heard of you guys. Where is Bradley located, and what's your classification? Do you really think that this Bradley guy can beat our whole team by himself?

Southern Miss - 83
Bradley - 61

Eagle, I see nobody from Bradley making fun of your schedule, only calling it like it is.
I am sure that no Division I school anywhere for the past 50 years has had four different NAIA opponents in their first nine games.
This really has to be one of the all time weakest schedules ever.
And even your own people know it and have been apologizing for it, making excuses and churning out the spin.

By the way, we know a lot of people from your neck of the woods don't get out much, and maybe don't know much about basketball outside of Mississippi, but if you want to know more about Bradley just check the list of Top 50 NCAA D-I programs in WINS, WINNING Percentage, and Home Attendance.
Also check the NCAA Tournament results from last season, and even the Sweet Sixteen games that were all nationally televised.

Here's what we all know about your school and coach:

Grand Eagle, your picks are duly entered, and if you win, I will personally send a DOUBLE prize.

Eagle you must not be much of a Southern Miss basketball supporter since we smacked your team around last year right down there in your backyard. BTW everyone not just BU is making fun of Southern Miss's schedule.

If I recall, the game at Southern Miss last year in Hattiesburg was attended by only about 2000 people.
BU will have nearly 5 times that many even if we have a blizzard.

A fan from some obscure directional school in Mississippi who has never heard of Bradley? Wow! You simply don't know much about colllege basketball.

Bradley was in the NCAA Sweet 16 last year after wins over Kansas and pitt (not to mention blasting Southern Miss 56-43 on their home court).
Bradley finished in the final AP poll at #24 in the country.
Bradley had one of it's players- sophomore Patrick O'Bryant- picked in the 1st round, 9th overall in the NBA draft this year.
Bradley is in the top 25 schools in NCAA history in all-time wins.
Bradley has been to 4 Sweet 16's and played for the NCAA National Championship twice in their history.
Bradley has also won the NIT 4 times in it's history, and has one of the top postseason tournament winning percentages in the country.

How many NCAA tournament games have the Great Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi won in their history?

The Missouri Valley is the #4 rated conference in RPI and finished last year as the 6th rated conference.
The Conference USA (which Southern Miss belongs to) is currently ranked #9, but finished 13th last year. So. Miss finished last year with a 246 RPI and next to last in the 12 team Conference USA. They barely got 2 NCAA bids, while the MVC got 4 bids, 2 of them advanced to the Sweet 16.

I guess most intelligent basketball fans would be asking:
"does that little southern miss think she can stand a chance against a real basketball team"

I can't believe anyone is taking this seriously. This person must just be someone around here having some fun because I don't think they have computers yet in Mississippi. Also, the person knew how to spell and didn't use any double negatives. However, there is some evidence that they are a S. Miss. fan as they could not follow directions. I think we were supposed to predict the total points and 3-point percentage for Bradley and not the score of the game.

Nice picture. Where do I sign up to be the next coach at Southern Mississippi?

george,
that picture of present Southern Mississippi head coach Larry Eustachy was taken when Larry was the head coach at Iowa State.
And the pics show coach Eustachy having a pretty good time, getting a couple pecks on the cheek by some co-eds while drinking beer.
Personally, I wasn't as bothered by it as a lot of people appeared to be, and it led to his firing even though he was a very successful head coach at Iowa State.
I certainly have a far harder opinion of the kinds of acts committed by Bob Huggins and Eddie Sutton, getting drunk, driving, and plowing into things, but the Iowa State people must have a whole lot higher standards than some places.

T...how do you think Euastachy got home? Chances are HE drove also. While I agree it was not the worst thing a coach could do I don't think he left ISU much choice. Perhaps a suspension would have sufficed but I can understand why they cut ties with him.
