PJS slipping again?

So it's all over the Internet since last night that BU has a verbal from a new commit, and not a peep from the PJS by midday Sunday? WEAK!!!

I'm not sure "the rules of good journalism" allow them to print anything as fact until BU publicly admits/announces this (and until the kid signs something). That's the difference between a blog, a forum like this, and a "professional" ;) publication like the PJS.
 
That does not seem to be true. Dave Reynolds has had a lot of articles about recruits visiting, and even commitments in the past. Scroll through his old articles, and there are many about Shayok, Crawford, and Hodges before they signed, as well as articles naming numerous other kids who have been on campus visiting. Bradley cannot officially speak about any kid before they sign a LOI.
 
Hey - Da Coach and I were 100 miles away at our favorite fishin' hole and half-way out of cell phone range and we still knew about it and got the info up..
..actually I think DR has done an absolutely awesome job given that he's all on his own and we have hundreds of posters all digging...(btw - an amazing 167 people were online at BradleyFans on a lazy Sunday afternoon with NFL going and a holiday coming up many reading about Ka'Darryl -- what a great Bradley fan base!)
 
reporters do have an advantage over us...they can freely call the recruits without it ever constituting an NCAA violation........
If I tried to do that then as a 'booster" I might be viewed as violating recruiting rules...
 
I am by no means a PJS apologist, but I have no problem with official news outlets waiting for confirmations from official sources before releasing material.

Being right > winning the race, in my opinion.
 
Reading the above PJS article re Ka'Darryl and the pictures Jalen's mom posted when he visited...it appears that President Glasser takes an active roll in a players recruitment when they come for a visit. I think that's great. :) It's like going into an office to talk to a representative and the boss stops by to introduce herself and thank you for giving them your business.

I have a question about the "professional" report.....why is it being reported that Bradley only has two scholarships available for 2012?

Does this mean TB or WE has already been granted another year of eligibility?

Just wondering since I'm sure this wouldn't be reported without being confirmed by someone at Bradley.

If so, I'll need to change the Scholarship Grid accordingly. :confused:
 
I think he is jumping ahead and concluding Will Egolf will get another year...
I also think he will but it has not yet been decided...
 
I will give you guys credit as a great place for information but give it a break already. I've never seen grown men pat themselves on the back as much as certain people here. This is not an official site. Nobody here has an official blog. If something reported here is wrong (i.e. talking to people at airports) you simply delete any posts showing evidence that you were ever wrong. A newspaper does not have that ability. Face it, a NEWSPAPER cant be ran like a fan forum or a blog.

Exactly....so why is the newspaper reporting that Bradley only has two scholarships available for 2012? Again, I'm sure this information was confirmed by someone at Bradley or the NCAA if someone has already been granted a medical redshirt, which I highly doubt. Maybe there has been another verbal commitment that hasn't been reported yet? After reading that article, I'm left wondering how/when one of the scholarships got used.

Aw, come on. Can't you give us just a tiny bit of credit for reporting many things here before anyone else anywhere has the information? In fact some of the reports about recruits appear here many days before they do anywhere else. And you'd have a hard time finding anything reported in the newspaper before it was posted here.

And you are wrong about items being deleted- we have never deleted anything to try to hide predictions that were wrong. The only deletions are made by mods for rules violations. If you can cite even one single example of what you are wrongly accusing us of, please do so, otherwise an apology would be appropriate.

And it is not like we don't get criticism. There are people who's entire lives seem to revolve around nitpicking and criticizing things that are said on this board, people who claim to hate this site so much, but apparently check in constantly and follow every word that is said (and no doubt they will critique this post :)).

And the issue with the scholarships that was not clarified by Dave, I have the answer-
they are counting on getting another year for Will, so that leaves 2 seniors who's scholarships will become available (TB and AT). The situation could change, but that is how they are seeing it now.

I did give you credit. I started off by saying this place is a great place for information. All I am saying is that some people here will never be accused of being humble.

As for giving you examples of things that have been deleted, that would be pretty hard to do considering, well you know, its been deleted. That being said, you do provide a great service. The PJS is also a great source with much more responsibility and people to answer to. They are two completely different services and some people cant seem to grasp that.
 
I wasn't asking for links, but just any example of what sort of prediction has been removed from the site because it later proved wrong.
I do not believe anything like that has ever happened.

Again, I will concede there are occasional deleted posts. It is not common, but yesterday we deleted several that were unfairly critical toward a current Bradley player who has never played a single game yet. Those were the first posts deleted in months.
But there have never been deletions to remove someone's incorrect predictions.
BTW, we have critics dedicated to keeping screenshots of this site to nitpick and show anything they think has been deleted or altered, so if it ever did happen, I guarantee you would know.
