Playing minutes Friday

I am looking at this Friday and who will have to contribute what. There is going to be a big load of minutes placed on a few people (as per usual). Here is my best guess at minutes played.

JC 38
DR 37
TW 34
MS 34
SM 33
RA 11
SS 7
TCS 6

What a huge difference it makes shortening our bench not to have AW available. Also, I was thinking at the beginning of the season it looked like DC was going to make a huge contribution this season and play substantial minutes.

Had AW not gotten injured and DC developed as we had hoped, I believe we easily cruise to the Tournament Championship. Not saying we can't do it but, it is a load of work for a team with a 3 man bench.

I agree.....Salley will not play 34 minutes!

Here are the average minutes played in conference games this season.

35.6 - Ruffin
34.9 - Crouch
33.2 - Maniscalco
31.7 - Wilson
23.7 - Salley
12.9 - Cole-Scott
11.4 - Austin
10.8 - Singh

I think Friday's game will look more like this:

37 - Ruffin
36 - Crouch
35 - Wilson
33 - Maniscalco
24 - Salley
14 - Austin
12 - Cole-Scott
9 - Singh

I would agree that Cole Scott and RA will get more minutes... We do certainly need everyone to be ready to go as long and as hard as they can!

I'd like to see WE and DC get 3-5 minutes. Maybe if DC was sent in for the same end of game play at CU maybe he hits the shot:-|

Are you insane? Have you watched the games? When is the last time either of those guys played any minutes, let alone meaningful minutes? I can't believe I just responded to this.

A lot will be predicated on whether we have a lead, how big it is, and when it is as to how long our starters will go, as obviously if we have a decent lead we'd want to rest JC, Ruff, and Theron more for the next game as they are our big 3...

That being said, if Will is healthy enough to go, I'd like the minutes somewhere around here:

Ruff 35

JC 32

Theron 32

Sammy 30

Salley 26

Rashad 18

TCS 15

Singh 6

Egolf 6

And if TCS, Austin, Singh, and Egolf can give us more minutes if we have a decent lead, along w/ if Collins plays its all cake....

I just want to know what could have possibly made you think that Will Egolf and David Collins are viable options in the conference tournament.

I agree w/ Rick to an extent....someone is going to have to give us some minutes whether its Sam Singh, Will Egolf, Tyrone Cole-Scott, or David Collins because we're never winning this thing w/ Ruff, JC, and Theron playing close to 40/gm in 3 days..its just not going to happen

People look at min way to much what people don't understand is practice is harder than a game.Playing a game is like half as hard as practice.

I agree and have no problem with Ruffin, Crouch, and Wilson all playing at least 35 minutes. Not sure why we would change the rotation at this point to include Egolf and Collins.

Why not? I'm only talking 3-5 and we need fresh legs for 3 days and maybe we could get a couple rebounds that we would not get.

We're not playing a play-in team where you can just mess around for a half and try to save guys legs for an extended tournament run. These guys haven't played in a meaningful game since mid-December, and you're in favor of putting them in the most important game of the year? Think about that for a second. Heck, why don't we just put in Anthony Thompson? He hasn't played all year, and we're redshirting him, but why not forfeit that redshirt to save some guys' legs?

That is insane. They belong on the bench neaxt to SS.

That is ridiculous. SS gives good usually mistake free minutes. He hustles his ************ off and knows his role when he is on the floor. I suppose you want him on the bench because he does not throw up 10ppg.

Man, I thought we had finally progressed beyond the delusions about David Collins...I guess not.
Why in the world would anyone think that having David Collins in at the end of that CU game would have improved BU's chances to win? C'mon.
If DC was put in during that last play at CU:
A) He would have been nowhere near the basket because he would have gotten outmuscled and pushed out of the paint by whatever undersized CU defender happened to be in the vicinity.
B) If the pass would have been thrown to him, he would have dropped it or gotten it stripped before he could have even made a move toward the basket.
C) Les would have gotten fired before they left Omaha for running the last second play for a guy who is the most ineffective scholarship player on his entire roster.

Agreed. I would be very surprised to see him back next year.

Chances of seeing DC with any meaningful minutes is very doubtful. JL will not and has not ever thrown a body out on the court just for the hell of it. WE if healthy probably at best sees 1 minutes and that would be to foul someone at the end of the game if we are in foul trouble.

SS will play meaningful minutes because we do not have depth with our bigs period. SS does play smart but he's just not able to sustain long periods of decent play. We really do miss AW because he makes up for some height compared to SM and TCS and can play the 4 when we really go small which would give TW a breather.
