point guard

Eddren had 4 asst. no turnovers...
not an especially great game, but add in a few other little things like inbounding the ball right to someone who scores...and I think he's doing OK.

Yeah, Edge was okay last night. I'd like to see some points out of him of course, but he played fairly well on D and had the 4/0 night T mentioned. I like SM a great deal also, but am not blinded to areas he could improve-- defense and decision making... He forces a lot of shots, especially for a junior.

I don't know how you play your defense or watch it, but his guy (#2) consistently blew right by him for easy layups and when he didn't, he could shoot right over him...

I'm not trying to knock Eddren, but DSE is better...

And in all honesty, he's better than Sam too...just more polished, and the fact that BCS schools were lookin at him is no fluke...they knew what kind of talent he had.

Counting the fact that Taylor was suspended, at the 4-min mark, we had the best team we can field on the floor in Egolf, Roberts, Warren, DSE, and Maniscalco.

I play only bad defense. Lots of fouls due to my, uh, incredible foot speed. :) I saw only the second half of the game and on a very small screen and noticed I was consistently confusing DSE and EM so I may be crediting one for the other here. I did notice EM getting owned during some zone, but the whole team looked atrocious in the 2-3. But in the final ten minutes in the game I thought I saw EM helping extend the other teams offense away from the basket.

I agree though, DSE looked very tough on defense.

I agree with all of these points SLB. DSE has a BCS body with what appear to be above average mid-major skills. I think, ultimately, he is the answer to what BU has been lacking and think he will fill Dodie's role nicely. However, I would not be willing to start the kid just yet.

I also liked that lineup at the 4-minute mark and look forward to throwing TB into that mix, as well.

I think DSE might be better for this team right now. I am by no means giving up on Edge, but I think DSE might be the better fit to log 20-25 mpg. I think Edge could be that invaluable 6th or 7th man who can spell at the point. Every good team has guys like that. I don't think I want DSE going up to 30+ mpg, or he could hit the proverbial 'wall' by February.

But let's take things with a grain of salt, it's 2 games, and Idaho St isn't exactly the be-all, end-all of opponents. We've got a freshman who appears to be ready to contribute, and that's a GOOD thing! :)

DSE proved last night why he is the best choice as our starting point guard, that doesn"t mean that Edge is not playing ok, DSE is able to do things because of his size that Edge and sam are not capable of because of their size, not knocking Sammmy or Edge but DSE could start for a lot of major college teams.

Agreed:!:

6'3" and good is better than 6'0" and good which is better than 5'11" and average offensively
