Portal Mess

Was watching CNN this morning and they had a guest who wrote a book on this topic. His view was yes college athletes should be paid but only under certain conditions. His view andine is of a player commits to play for your program for whatever NIL money is agreed to then that player signs an agreement to stay two years. If this player breaks his contract and leaves after only one year then he must pay back that second years money back. In addition he must sit out a year at his new destination. For sure not a sure fix, but it can only help in maybe even out the playing field a bit. They were his views and IMO I strongly agree with this. Any one care to share their views or opinion.

I think he is on the right track. makes sense but unfortunately the NCAA lacks that,...comon sense

Laughable how all the bigwigs in college basketball are whining about the situation when they were all primary authors and are responsible for the way it is - LOL

Speaking of mess …..

The Indiana State AD confirms that every single player on their roster is gone, except one redshirt freshman who hasn’t logged any minutes

The NCAA is not at fault for this mess, They had rules for this but some liberal judges decided that those rules were not fair to the players and now you have this complete mess Me generation of kids. They only think of the here and now. No planning ahead... you see that when companies hire this group. They are at the new position for little while then they move on to other jobs. In the past you stayed at your first job for awhile before you moved on
Part of the blame should be shared by this generation of kids. They only think of the here and now, no planning ahead. In years past you started a new job you stayed for awhile. Now they move onto other jobs in a shorter period of time

That's a load of BS. Show me a company that actually rewards loyalty anymore. All them do everything they can to avoid pay raises to their employees, demand more and more work from them before increasing wages, etc. This isn't the 1960s where companies would give a man a raise just because he got married or had a kid or had been there 10, 15, 20 years. The entire tech industry has been laying off tens of thousands of Americans, getting H1-B permits from the government, and replacing them with southeast asian workers. Anyone that thinks there is loyalty anywhere anymore has their head up their you know what.

Definitely no loyalty. One of the other problems with all these guys transferring multiple times is they are not graduating which means their job opportunities go way down.

You are right it is a 2 way street but it is still there

They are 100% at fault. They tried to grow a billion dollar business on the backs of students, and chose to put their heads in the sand when it came to the students' being compensated.

If anyone is interested, tonight on CNN there is a special segment on the topic of college basketball. The segment is called College basketball in the cross hairs. Should be an interesting show to watch.

I like the fact the present situation in College sports is out in the open more so than I have seen in a long time. Everyone is stating the system is broken and needs to be fixed

Good point. According to BU website, Bully who was a sophomore was undecided for his major. Sound like someone that’s concerned with getting an education?

They didn't come here to play school. Put more rules around it, I guess. Not for the coaches, though. Free market for them.

Most college students could take the first 2 years of classes with a declared major as it is mostly just pre-req classes the first two years.
