Porter Moser signs new long term contract with Loyola

Danny Granger stayed long enough to play for Les. Was Suggs a loss? Tucker transferred to UWM to be with a girlfriend. And, no, Molinari was never given any assurance that he would be retained (And I have a pretty good source, too).

granger stayed for awhile, but not long.

but my point was that with Granger, Tucker, Tisby, Gullingham, Gilbert, etc..Bradley was almost certainly poised to have very good years in 2002-03 and 2003-04 - instead we had to go thru a bit of a rebuild, you'd have to admit..

and I suspect you do "have a good source", but my "source" was "there" as well and was of the opinion Mo was secure, so must have been misunderstanding ;)

... but Abegg wanted to distance himself from Versace...He was NOT fired as has commonly been stated.

It was no secret at the time that Versace and Abegg never got along. Abegg was looking for any reason to fire Versace (just like Glasser with Les) and Dick served up his reason on a silver platter. University Presidents almost always win out in the end.

His detractors always say that, but never give a reason.

The Mo firing also caused a Mo assistant to go to UNM where he (illegally) continued texting Granger and lured him away.

Love Mo to death and would have loved to see what he could have done with all that talent -- future NBA all star, Horizon League POY -- but if he stays we likely don't get Buescher on board and the Sweet 16 with Sommerville, Ruffin, POB.

Close...It wasn't texting, it was dozens of illegal phone calls from Broussard and McKay (at least 42 documented illegal phone calls, and that is just the ones that were found). Those phone calls were uncovered by the Albuquerque Tribune through a Freedom of Information Act filing, since their coaches used official University cell phones. Recall that both McKay and Broussard had denied contacting Granger until the cell phone records revealed dozens of illegal calls made to him, his father, and his old high school coach. Then McKay changed his story and admitted he and Broussard had made the calls, but claimed that they were just innocent calls to express birthday greetings, etc.

Check out this summary of what happened. Unfortunately, this is a post from 12+ years ago and some of the links no longer work-

But I wouldn't put any blame on those who fired Mo. That was on Broussard and McKay.

I love Dick Versace and don't care to list some of the reasons since it might make him look bad. I will say that Dick's ego didn't play well with Abegg. Versace had the best parking space on campus and walked around as if he were the King of the campus (he was, lol)... He did what he wanted, when he wanted and didn't give a flip how that might make his boss look.

I loved Mo too until one day they were on the radio doing an after season recap with Dave Snell. They took a caller who was asking what Bradley could do to get back to national prominence and advance in the NCAA tournament... I distinctly remember Mo explaining to the gentleman that college basketball had changed a lot from the old days and it wasn??™t practical or realistic for Bradley to compete multiple rounds in the NCAA tourney.

He lost me that day. Sorry.
