Positives/Negatives

I'm positive that after starting his 9th year, if I hear JL say that the players are "not buying in" one more time I will puke.

I'm positive that if I were 6'-10", long and athletic build, had a decent or "normal" vertical, and had been playing basketball most of my life, I could get at least ONE rebound - or ONE point - in 10 minutes of playing time against a DIV II team.

I'm positive that I love Walt Lemon's attitude of hating to lose games. Yes, he needs to channel his frustration in another direction but BU needs a lot more of this....losing is becoming to acceptable. JL all but said that in his post game comments when he said "he didn't like the attitude in the locker room after the game". I'm very concerned about the cohesion of this team and it's coaches right now.

I'm not positive...but I have believed this all summer and fall...that BU has basically the same team as last year. We lost Sam S. and C-ROB and we gained J Prosser and Dodie. We are a year older but that does not make us better...JL has also said this same thing....If BU continues to do the same things, with virtually the same players, then I can only predict the same outcome...middle of the pack and a 2:30 game on Friday.

Hey, if the coach can be so negative after one loss, why can't the rest of us? I'd rather talk about the good things, such as Lemon Jr., Prosser, the shooting of Warren, the cheap concessions. Those were all highlights of the evening. But when the coach is that negative IN PUBLIC, then I feel we are allowed to be also. I expect that he should tear into his players in the locker room afterward, but his performance on 1470 left alot to be desired.

I'm positive that without your starting PG (SM) and your best wing/inside player(TB) this loss just doesn't matter. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. To say that an exhibition loss makes Coach Les' seat any hotter, I think is hogwash. This team will be good, you just got to get all the pieces together. Those 2 will be out there in the regular season. Then if they are still losing then there will be grounds for this kind of negative bantor, but until then keep your head up BRAVES FANS. It will be ok!

I really don't mind a certain amount of negativity after last night, because there wasn't a whole lot to take from it that was positive. I'm sure everyone is frustrated. Much of what I am reading here, though, is over-the-top. Some people have been waiting months for a good time to have a rip session, so today is their day to shine. I'll let them have their day, let them blow off their steam.

If you have read my post the theme of them all is just accountablity. Les will take zero blame for this loss and shoved it all on the players and their lack of effort and poor attitude. All I'm sayin is just ONE time i'd like to hear him say, "I'VE got to do a better job." Then, I would not have even posted. Just tired of his lack of humility is all.

Or I can describe it this way. If coach les was on apprentice with all of his players, and coach les was the project manager, and the donald asked what happened in the assignment, and les went on and on about everyone's attitude and they weren't buying in to him as a leader, THE donald would look him in the face and say, Jim, YOU'RE FIRED!!!! Just take some blame, please?

Thanks...I appreciate that. And you're right, alot of this is pure frustration that we lost to a DIV II school that has never beat a DIV I school until last night. I am willing to let last night go and look forward to better things next Friday. The problem is my patience is growing very thin and I think many other fans feel the same way. Many people have high expectations for this year and this was a chance for BU to come out and make a statement. A chance to say that this year is going to be something special. Instead, BU loses to a team that had never beat a D I team. What kind of statement does that make?

Frustration, disappointment, doubt....all things that need to be erased in the very near future.

Let's take care of business next Friday in a big way. GO BU!!

Agreed Peter. If the players had a bad attitude and didn't show effort after the halftime speech then they should have sat the entire second half and Les should have played freshmen and walk-ons. Wanna make a statement Jim? Make it during the game! Not on the post-game radio show.

I said it last time we lost to a D2 and I'll say it again (sadly), I'm embarrassed by that performance. So much so that I would be ashamed to tell anyone who followed college basketball scores that I was a Bradley alumni and fan. No more excuses! Just gitter done!

I realize there were students there, but I stand corrected......

I'm still wondering where most of the students were when it's their team, tickets were only $1, and it was on campus.
The students that were there were probably our non-drinkers. After watching that show they may turn to drinking. I know I did.

I agree:!: Jimmy makes statements but NEVER carries through with them:!::?
When this happens a coach/leader loses credibility and respect:!: The same goes for having bubble standers for players:-o Once you lose your team, a coach will never regain it:!:

There is NO Positives out of a showing like this, I don't care how you turn the worm:!: Jimmy gained nothing but more doubt and fire:!: The players gained nothing and maybe lost some by losing to a team like this:!: Not a way to build a winning attitude:mad: Not a way for a team to build fan support for the up coming season:!: Sorry No gain of anything last night:?
Something seriously is broken here and it better get fixed fast:rolleyes:

I noticed that too. The seats at least filled up somewhat towards halftime, and then about a few minutes before it was over folks started to leave.

It was like a funeral once the buzzer sounded. All that was missing was the band playing "Taps."

This is no different than the Civic Center crowds leaving early every game.....win or lose.

But why? We have "baiscally the same team as last year" (which I don't believe) and we've been picked 5th in the Valley in almost every single poll I've seen to this point.

Let's take care of business next Friday in a big way. GO BU!!

I have a feeling that if we were to run up the score next Friday many would be on here stating it was not necessary, it was a classless act by our head coach, and that's not how they want BU to be represented.

I say "keep the pedal to the floor" and absolutely BURY some teams! Who cares about their "feelings". I have a feeling WL doesn't!

I am now positive that Kirk Wessler just made the most positive post about this game (on the other board)

"That said, no need to melt down over an exhibition game." :-o

I wonder if he has his Thursday tickets for STL already in hand or maybe wearing his 4 games in 4 days shirt to the game next Friday?

I'm positive that everyone is frustrated. I'm positive that some people enjoy posting after a loss much more than after a win. I'm positive that DA tried hard during the radio broadcast.

SERIOUS question...you REALLY think people "enjoy posting after a loss more than after a win".

I'd like to do a survey and I'll start by saying I sure don't. Anyone else.....?

You are correct...people ARE indeed frustrated.....this is a carryover from the last few years (9 for some people) and many were hoping for some sign that the mediocrity is behind us.

Last night, while understanding its only ONE game and it is basically practice, still did nothing...absolutley nothing to assure folks things are going to change.

Lets hope they do as i am convinced people would rather post following wins....NOT losses.

Not you dog, you've been great lately, and I agree with everything you said. But in the past some people have been strangely silent after wins and voraciously loquacious after losses. I'm just looking for balance.

I hate having to come on here and post things after a loss because this team should never lose to a d-2 opponent in their lifetime, way too much experience and talent on this team to be embarrassed like last night, why does the fingers get pointed at the players when we all know that they are not the problem.
