Post game 86 BU-75 Loyola

Bench scoring.....

38 - Bradley
12 - Loyola

:p

TW...and CR

haha
if TW started it'd be
24 BU 12 Loyola
still impressive, but it shows you how big of a part TW is to this team.

Besides foul trouble, Sammy had a great game. Really like how he played in thsi game.

We almost had another classic Bradley game where we were in control and had the lead for most of the game and almost had it slip away. If we would have gave up that game I dont even want to think of what this board might have read. Can we please have 2 good halves??? We should have won by 25+. Loyola is bad, real bad. No clue how that team beat Butler. I am not to happy that this is the team we have to see come to Carver next year.

A win is a win I guess

We won and that was great but a few things of note. First we were passing the ball beautiful the first part of the game and got away from that the rest of the game. Tooooo much dribbling from the team. Second I thought TB played a good game and I thought he should have seen some action in the 2nd 1/2 to give TW a spell. Do you wonder why he missed hid FTs down the stretch? It is called fatigue my friends. JL needs to use TB 3-5 minutes in the 2nd 1/2 to let TW recoup and be ready for the last 8 minutes. DC had a decent game and SS disappeared. I just want to sasy we need to look inside right away instead of waiting. DC or for that fact SS and TW have been open early and the team just seems to want to pass around the perimeter. [/u][/i][/b]Loyola started playing the pass and that is when the inside should have opened up. Also we lost our defensive focus andintensity for too long of stretches. A better team would have drilled us. I like what I saw the first 15 minutes of the game and if we can do that for 40 minutes we will be a real tough out.
I agree. There were many times they were wide open and the guards saw them and elected to pass the perimeter. I hope JL and staff point this out because we gave any a lot of potential easy ones. We don't always shoot from the outside as good as we did in that first half. If we are going to make a run in St. Lou. we have to have a inside,inside/out game.

Can't we be happy with a double-digit road win?
It's discouraging that instead of fans offering congratulations and looking at the many good things this team has accomplished, we have to parse the game and focus on whatever minutia we can find that we think they did wrong.

No, Loyola is not a great team, but they were on a roll, had won 2 games in a row, and did beat Butler in Hinkle. I thought the team played extremely well, lead nearly the entire game, and did not fold when Loyola made their run.
They shot extremely well- 50% overall, and 42.1% from three. They shot their free throws well- 81.1%. The passed the ball very well. Yet, playing well in nearly every aspect of the game, and winning by a comfortable margin on the road isn't enough. We have to rip the team for not passing the ball to the centers a couple times when we thought they were open.
Ironically, the same people who always find fault with this team, are the ones who have criticized the centers all year for their inability to score with the ball, even when they get it!

Bradley is not Pitt or North Carolina. They are not going to dominate and blow teams out, especialy on the road. Enjoy the win.

I agree. We beat a team that just beat Butler at their place for crying out loud! Loyola went on a run, but I never thought the game was in danger of getting away from us. A road win is a road win, tough to get and an accomplishment when we get one.

I'd say enjoy it and let's see if we can get another one at Evansville on Wednesday! :)

IMO pointing out things that one noticed that was not that great in a teams effort is not ripping on that team.

As a fan, I was not that excited about letting a 25 pt lead slip to single digits (7 was the lowest I think). I was pleased with the fact that they were able to hold on to the lead and win by double digits. Overall, it was a good effort and I love to see the offense clicking. I really enjoyed seeing CR have another good game and really see him coming on as of late. But just because we won doesn't mean that everything was perfect. There are things that could have concerned someone. One thing I don't doubt is that the coaches will have the guys working on those things and ready to play the next game.

GO BU!!

What's a Rambler? They quit making those cars a long time ago...

Good points...OTOH, like you siad, it was nice to see we took their best shot and survived and still won by DD's. Something we couldn't do against UNI at HOME and away.

As JL stated..it tough to stay mentally focused when you build such a big lead.

Why Ramblers?

Loyola University Chicago is the only NCAA Division I program with the nickname "Ramblers" for its teams. The unusual moniker originated when football was a common and popular sport at Loyola.

Before the 1920s, all college athletics teams were merely assigned their school colors, instead of a nickname. All Loyola teams were known as the "Maroon and Gold."

In 1925, the football coach, along with the student newspaper, conducted a contest to name the football team. The winning entry was "Grandees," tying into the Spanish origins of St. Ignatius of Loyola. However, the name "Grandees" failed to catch on.

In 1926, a more informal, but much more binding process, finally yielded the nickname: "Ramblers." That year, because the football team traveled so extensively across the United States, "rambling from state to state," the media dubbed Loyola as "the Ramblers."

Despite dropping football as a varsity sport in 1930, the nickname "Ramblers" is still proudly carried by today's athletics teams at Loyola University Chicago.

Amen AND ... Amen. There is no such thing as a "W" with amendments. Enough said. Re: "Rambler." It brings back memories of a summer night in Peoria, 1955, a surreptitious midnight skinny dip in a private pool in the Knolls, a police chase involving a "Rambler." For the rest of the story, you'll have to read my novel.

Hmmmmmm..could of been me. I had a Red 63 Rambler with push button transmision. Fully folding down front seats that made one of the most uncomfortable beds you'll ever sleep on. Had a hole on the floorboard directly behind the front wheel and when it rained I'd get dirty water splashed all the way up my left side from my ankle to my shoulder.

Ahhhhhh......the "Ramtastic" as my friends called it.

Pure and simple this team needs to develop a killer instinct if not this year but next. That starts with the coaches but ultimately the players need to get a bit nasty (in the best sense) and learn to put people away when they can. If there is one thing that a JL team has not been very good at is when they have a chance to bury a team early they usually take their foot off the accelerator. Imagine if we were up by 25 at Loyola with 5 minutes left? I bet we would have seen AT, DN and TB in the game in the 2nd 1/2. Good teams know how to not just execute and finish games but also they know how to finish off their opponents when they have the chance.
