Post Game BU 65 @ CU 79

Brought over from in-game thread:

Well, I have to say this is about the best I've ever felt about a loss. Too bad Bradley played so poorly in the first few minutes of the game, but they showed a ton of resiliency and we saw nice games out of CR and DN. CR, especially, played a good game. All over the place on D and looked much much more confident on offense.

I also think that was about the best reffed MVC game I've seen all year. Refs called a good one, and I never once came close to blowing out a valve somewhere.

I'm tired of losing, and I'm tired of losing to Creighton, but if we play the rest of our games like we played this one, we should be able to close out the season 5-0 and 11-7 in the MVC.

I feel the same way. Bradley should be congratulated for a great effort. I just would like to win one of these types of games for a change. We are probably about 7 or 8 points away from being 10-4 or at least 9-5 had we been able to get one of those UNI games and maybe a CU or ISU win. But it is what it is, and that should not change things much in St. Louis where anyone in the league can win this tournament this year.

Unless we win out though, I think our NIT chances are slim, but we probably get a few CBI home games for our consolation prize.

I just hope that they don't end up as a Thursday night game in St Louis. Les needs to teach the bigs how to rebound better and be more aggresive inside. I hope he can get more out of JP and MK next year than he has gotten outta DC, SS (the robot), and AT this year.

Well I hate to knock a player when he is down, but what you see in DC is what you get. God bless him. He tries hard every night, but I just don't think he is cut out for this level of play. Obviously him getting his degree is more important than how good a ball player he is, so I'm sure he will have a good life after graduation.

SS has improved big time this year, but again, he is not an impact player either. For as many good contributions he has given this team, he commits as many critical mistakes. He has definately helped this team more than hurt them, but this is as good as will get. Again for those who will not be playing pro ball, the value of a Bradley degree is invaluable, and he will do well in life as well.

AT is a mystery here. A lot of people are asking that he get more playing time, but something is obviously not gelling with him. I'm hoping someone can get more info on just what is going on with him. He is obviously not grasping the system in practice or he is not the player that people touted him as. Maybe he makes a big jump next year, but he is obviously not ready yet. More playing time wouldn't hurt, but this team is still trying to win some games and make a postseason run. Therefore, I'm not counting on seeing him that much the rest of this year.

We will not go 5-0. They are all winnable games...but teams that shoot as poorly as we do from 3 and from the line always seem to find a way to lose a winnable game here and there...

We'll win at least four of the five. Evanville at their place may be the loss, but it is not impossible to beat this team.

And like I said on the chat, if we lose in front of 800 people (500 who will be Bradley fans) at Loyola, a team who is just plain awful, that would be the lowest point we have had in awhile.

That said, I hope I did not jinx Bradley! :D

I might even go to that game since it is in my area, but hopefully we will be on a two game winning streak at that time. :)

I missed the game. Eddren's minutes look low (18 min) although his stat line does not look horrible (not great but not a lot of T/O's). Any reason for only getting 18 mins.

Darrian Norris probably had his best game in a month or so and got some of Eddren's minutes.

I wasn't expecting Bradley to win this game, so I'm not sure what to make of this game. There were some good points, but obviously some bad ones. If they can play like this at home, they should take care of business.

I've said it before, we are getting every ounce of basketball we can out of those guys. David is 7 foot tall, that is why he is on the team. Sam is a good guy and a hard worker, with a very limited game. AT, I have no idea.

That about sums it up....are lack of anything effective inside on O and D is killing us.

I'll give my 2 cents for what it's worth:eek:

I'm not happy with the substitution patterns last night. I'm not going to name names but we got two players that start out hot and one of them doesn't see any minutes in the last 10 minutes of the game:confused: while one who he could have substitued for was throwing up bricks for 10 minutes.

Also, are we not in shape??? Why does a player who starts off hot get pulled after 5 minutes or so? My thought process is that you leave the hot shooter(s) in.

My thought process for the MVCT is to go with a 7-8 man rotation and just let them play rather than taking one of the players out every 3-5 minutes - how do you get a flow of game going playing that way.

Just my thoughts, for what they are worth.

My concern from last nights game was the turnovers again in the guts of the game. Probably from being young. Also, the defense down the end was not very good. BU has at least 1 player who gives up more points than he brings, because he is too slow to play good defense.

wonder why the story has this photo...

surely everyone can see that's not from the game at Creighton.
And the box score in the paper today said Creighton was leading at the half 39-37.

I wonder the same thing when Bradley's very own athletics website shows a picture from a different game with their postgame articles.

Here are my thoughts on the game--not that anyone asked :)

The game of basketball is pretty simple really. First, the team with better players almost always wins, especially at home. Second, when you make shots you look good. When you dont make shots you dont look so good.

First half--BU six threes, 57% shooting. Second half--BU zero threes and 30% shooting. Meanwhile CU shot over 50% for the game.

Bradley didn't make shots in the second half. Thats the difference. We can talk till we are red in the face about the other stuff but, really, its simple. Make shots.

I like how hard the team played. I liked the much more aggressive offensive approach. I liked the pressure defense. But, in the end, Creighton has better players and BU doesn't shoot the ball well enough to win with any type of consistency.

That isn't going to change the rest of the year. At this stage of things the team is what it is.

Collins' last two games he is averaging 2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 turnovers, and 5 fouls in 19 minutes. It seems like we aren't recruiting the right bigs if we are getting "every ounce we can" out of DC and AT. Either that or we just aren't working them in correctly. It's a little too late for DC and I'm hoping it isn't for AT.

Well....we sure went into a funk...JL calls timeout after CU gets up by 8 and we come back to take the lead and then it all fell apart..

CR and DN had good games. Sam M vanished in the second half

TW...not sure what's going on there... 6 turnovers?

CU is deep and because of that will end the tourney in St. Louis

Woodfox was fairly productive with 18 pts in 22 minutes....

Let's not make a change, NO, NO, NO, let's just keep playing (26 min's) last night and starting DC:confused: Good God:roll::oops: Someone has to :doubt: the coach soon or later:!:

My main concern is that with the size we have coming in over the next couple of years, we do not have anyone who knows how to coach these guys and make them better. DC has not improved in his time at BU IMO. I realize he is doing his best and I love the kid but the honest truth is he hasn't gotten much better than the first time he stepped on the floor at BU. I have never seen a BU practice but my guess is we really lack a coach that can teach our big guys the art of playing the 5 spot. You have to have some sort of an inside threat to free up shooters on the outside...right now we do not have that.

TW and Sam M had 10 turnovers between them.....I know Sam is only a soph but he's played around 60 games or so now...so I don't know that being young is that great of excuse in that area
