Post-game: BU 68 InSU 56

Really not much to say on this one. We did nothing special. Nothing newsworthy. Just a nice simple stress-free win against a team we should beat. Sometimes the quietest nights are the most enjoyable of all.

This is an excellent summary of the game, TAS. The only thing I feel I know now that I didn't know before the game is that AT will likely get lost in the mix once he begins battling WE, MK, and JP on a consistent basis next year.

Side Note: Anyone else notice AW in uniform tonight? It was great to see that silky smooth J during warmups. I'm not sure if that was posted elsewhere, but I thought it was significant to see him out there with the team once again. After the game, he said that he is "dying" to get back out there and is counting the days until next season.

I think it underscores why we need to et AT more minutes now. WE needed a long D1 adjustment period, AT seems to need one. I'd hate to start next year with potentially 3 backup centers that still need that D1 adjustment.

After a sloppy first half, we played a much better 2nd half and put away a bad team. Wednesday will be a little tougher, but we should still handle WSU with similar effort on the defensive side we displayed tonight. a 2nd sweep over a cellar dwellar is a must

Andrew Warren was in uniform last night for the first time. He has been doing better and practicing more, but there was no intention of him playing.

Probably the major reason was because of the throwback jerseys. His #24 would be one of the better ones to auction, and it wouldn't be worth as much if it wasn't "game-worn"

Some other thoughts--

I also thought the referees were great. What a pleasure to watch a game where the refs don't see themselves as the star attraction.

There were no recruits at the game.

The broadcast crew did confirm that Sam Singh's dunk was the first of his BU career. Earlier in the year Sam did say he hoped to get a dunk this year before his career is over.

Attendance was great- 11,033 at Carver Arena last night.

Nobody played more then 30 minutes for Bradley.

They shot .568 (25-44) and .467 (7-15) , but missed 9 of 20 free throws.

The Broadcast team also said that this is the first time a Jim Les coached team was six and three in the MVC. This is the best record Jim has had after the first nine games in the conference?? That seems hard to believe???

noise

noise

with over 11,000 in attendance the noise, energy level, and 6th man effect was just not there. More people sit on their hands when the fight song is kicked in than stand. Ive seen a lot of games the last 20 years at the civic center and last nights crowd effect was probably the lowest based on a near sell out. whether it the cold outside, mid winter blues or something else it was kinda disappointing. I feel the team does feed of the energy level from the fans but cannot understand the lethargy of last nights game from the home croud

Wow, he has discovered them!

oddly, he calls anyone who is not happy with this Bradley team
a terminal curmudgeon.....

Does "terminal curmudgeon" = "not a true fan"?
whoa.......let the debate begin.....

yikes...I'm getting closer to being one

a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man

Bradley wins - only a few posts.

Amazing.

A post game thread with only a few posts.

It was a win but man was Indst bad.....sometimes how they handled the ball looked like a grade school team....a bad one.

I don't know it was hard game to watch without much excitement really.

the best part of the game was the last 30 secs in the first half

I agree with you to a point...but I also agree with TAS and DaCoach...this was a game we should have won, we won easily, and without much excitement. The crowd got into it, especially at the end of the 1st half with those back-to-back threes when we were in danger of letting ISU back in.

Heck we didn't even need to complain about the refs. Nothing really to get hot about.

If we can't gripe about the team we are going to start griping about the crowd now?

did anyone hear the Dave Snell broadcast??

He repeatedly and often made references to refereeing...

He gave some facts and figures to show how badly Bo Boroski has called the games he's done for Bradley (he's the guy who called the intentional foul last game on Dodie), and how really good Higgins is and the contrast between the games Higgins does and some of the bad refs.

Snell had more commentary about the refs in one game last night than I had heard in the past 10 years cumulatively.
And he was pretty much right on with everything, and he is no dummy....the guy has seen a few thousand college basketball games!

He also pointed out that Boroski (& Skiles) reffed this game in which Bradley got scre*ed by the calls....

--Salley and Theron fouled out, UIC shot 29 FT's, and of course BU was whistled for lots more fouls and bad calls than the "home team".

The video of the game was not online here, so it was listening to Snell CB and Stowell. I know Snell has been around the BU program forever and he generally does an outstanding job, but last night his game was way off. He constantly missed plays or more accurately anticipated a call and it ended up being something different. Several times CB had to correct him on what happened on the court. Snell always is very prepared and knowledgable but it just was difficult to have him tell me it was a turnover when it ended up being a foul. Anticipation versus waiting for a signal from the floor.

Also, Dave if you read this, it seems pretty obvious you might want to get your eyes checked. There was a moment when we had 33 points and you kept saying we have 37... I think he might have a little issue with seeing numbers.

I thought it was a win, INDYST played poorly but we just did enough to let them hang around, 12 point lead out of a timeout to 7, but overall it was a decent win.

We have some excellent freshman and Taylor Brown by the end of his 4 years might be the best of them... his size, athletic ability and confidence scream out going to get paid to play this game eventually.

I agree and have been very impressed with the effort TB gives in his limited minutes.

Speaking of Sam Singh's dunk...

I spoke to Sam at the post game party and he seemed elated to have his first dunk. He said he had all but accepted the fact that he would never have a chance to dunk the ball in a game during his career.

Also, a friend of mine wanted to show off his brand new digital SLR camera, so he took a couple hundred pictures of the game. One of the pictures is an excellent shot from behind of Sam going up for the dunk. He's going to convert the picture to a JPEG, then email it to me. I will be sure to post it so people can copy it...its a great picture!

I have been sick and missed my FIRST BU game in...well for a reeeeal long time. It was InSU and I said...well at least its not a game I care THAT much about save for the obvious wanted win.

I think this is a team that takes you back to pre season mode in terms of excitment.....

I also think this is a team that drags you down in terms of quality of play.

We did what we had to. Had a 19 point lead at one time....subbed and got out of killer mode.

Now gear up for a much tougher game Weds. Must win to keep pace.

I thought the crowd sounded pretty loud and energetic on tv. But sometimes you don't get the entire story from tv.

Attendance was great and I too thought the crowd was fairly quiet, I think because of how deliberate Ind.St. played it kind of took a lot of the crowd out of the game, Higgins has gotten so much better over the last couple of years as he isn"t so much whistle happy and lets the teams play more without calling every little touch a foul.
