Yeah...I agree. I was pointing out that if someone wants to say a couple "prayers" by the leagues best guard kept the game from being a blowout then we can play that game too listing a few things THEY gat prayers on i.e. RA and SM's missed point blank layups and the no call on Slack.
I guess when its been SO long since you beat your rival and it finally happens logic/common sense goes out the window.......

BU was not far from winning this game, it's hard to win on the road against a good Valley team, but BU was within grasp of it.
Just one of those wild three pointers, maybe the one that bounced on the rim for a few minuites, would have allowed BU to be shooting for the tie or win.
Props to OE for making a way better pct on those 3-pointers than he usually does. In the long run, I feel ISU is a team we can beat, as they rely on circus shots, windmill layups, and wild 3-pointers. Last night, those shots went in, but outside of Redbird Arena, I doubt they'll have the same success. We might just face this team again!

ISU people defend this kind of childish hooliganism, but it hurts them in the long run.
Had this been Assembly Hall in Urbana, we'd have all the self appointed moral police like Jay Mariotti cursing the crowd...but I didn't expect anything less, so it didn't bother me.
The one redeeming fact, however, is that as soon as some of Porter Mosers players are gone, then I cannot imagine that Sead Odzic, Dinma Odiakosa, and Ty Modupe will be enough of a draw, and the seats at Redbird Arena will be empty again.
Recall...it is only when Bradley comes with its several thousand fans that they even come close to a sellout.
The vast majority of the ISU fans are fine people, and nobody in the section where we sat was the least bit rude, and most were quite friendly.
Thankfully I wasn't too close to the students, but as you saw, it took a significant effort by security to keep them from rushing the floor after the win, as several tried it.
Where BU sets its sights on postseason play, NCAA appearances, Sweet Sixteen accomplishments, Top 40 home attendance figures, Top 25 all time wins, and even National Championship banners...
ISU sets its sights on one game in February each year, most of which they lose, and they storm the court even when they beat us in a 13-15 season like they did in 2004-2005!
This, above all, exemplifies how small their asprations are.....as they deem it a successful season just to win that one game.

Yeah I was at the game last night and you could tell that we were ISU's Super Bowl. There were times in which I thought the crowd was the type of audience you would see for a professional wrestling venue.
Very true... The student section is another issue though..

Thanks for that report T. I figured they'd rush the floor, but with it comes a pretty hefty fine these days (I think). That would be a nice way to spend our tax dollars.
Anyway, I thought I saw one clip where some fans were out and around the players... but that musta been off the floor heading to the lockerrooms or something.

Things like "Buck FRADL*EY" (several hundred people had signs or t-shirts saying this), "F-you BU", "You SUCK", and (how could he possibly miss this one?) the organized "BULL-SH*T" chant that followed most of the bad or borderline referee calls, and a few other chants certainly don't leave much to the imagination, and probably wouldn't be allowed in the Wessler household.

GMAB..one game makes our season? I think not.
And dogs.........I do think ISU is the better team. I'm sure you think BU is the better team. Why shouldn't we feel that way about our teams? As far as Les......I think he is a good coach, but if you honestly think having Crouch guard a red hot Eldridge with the game on the line is good strategy then I don't know what to say. I doubt Crouch is your best defender is he?
Overall it was a great game by two good teams. ISU made a couple more plays. they have more talent in the paint and it showed. That was the difference in the game. Hopefully there will be a 3rd game in St. Louis.

I clearly heard on TV the BS chant on a couple of fouls on ISU. Even one of the announcers acknowledged that the fans didn't like the call while they were chanting it lol.

With regards to the word "suck" and it's derivative "sucks," I think it's become a socially acceptable term to use in public forums and casual conversation now, provided it's not followed by a noun....
And please for the love of God, let's not get all high and mighty about how gloriously pure our student section is (and has been). We're talking about immature college kids here for cryin' out loud, and yes, I was once one too, they're ALL going to get out of hand, especially at a game when the hatred is high like BU-ISU. To think that we (the student section of today and yesterday) a 100% beacon of appropriateness is quite naive.*
I'm not saying that what is said and done is right, but it always has been and always will be a problem when you're dealing with that age group.
*Please let's not get a run of "I never said that" posts, too.......

I have just three things to add after listening to
Dave/Chuck/Joe on the radio:
1) Look for more traps and doubles on Ruff. Isu
seemed willing to expend a lot of energy and ex-
pose their defense trying to get the ball out of the
hands of #20. I think that caught us a little off
guard.
2) Defense. It sounded like Isu guards were get-
ting penetration (I don't know if you call OE a guard)
and nobody was taking a charge. Maybe the Birds
were driving in better control than Dave let on but
there seemed not to be bigs in position to slow them
down or to seal the weakside long rebound. .
3) Freethrows. Did Blake Ahern join up with "Quick
Change"? Coach Stowell would say this guy is a 51%
from the line and the guy would dribble in two at
the charity stripe. How else could such lousy shooters
suddenly find the mark?
FWIW, Just my Sunday morning rant.

Both teams won at Home.....I don't know WHO the better team is at this point. ISU record wise so thats all I have right now. Neutral court would tell us more. JC is not our quickest defender but he is one of the smartest. OE hit some outside shots he normally doesn't hit. He had a good game...hats off.
JL is the coach....he thought it was best to have JC on him. Many times there are other reasons to have a man guard another. I would say Ruf is our best defender but I would imagine Les didn't want to wear him out. Really I dunno.....like I said, JL is something like 6-2 against ISU so I will defer to him.
Good game but to say it was a couple shots by Ruffin away from ISU winning going away is VERY shortsighted IMO. BU could EASILY say we just ran out of time becuase we had the momentum back in our favor......but its no more relevant then what ISU WOULD have done if.......
ISU won at home....BU won at home...next.
I think of our games this season this way:
Both games meant something again.
Both teams won at home.
Both teams had chances to win on the road.
Both games came down to the wire.
Both games were sellouts & great atmospheres.
There's been more than the usual banter between our fans again.
The War on 74 has returned in force, just the way it should be. We should all at least be happy with that!

The ISU fans couldn't have been worse than the Illini's. If they were most offensive, OE is most explosive...in the conference. And he'll only get better.
While TW once looked out matched when he got to the hole (not any more), SM looked lost this time.
