Postgame thread--Bradley 90 SEMO 72

It is rarely the writer that posts these headlines, usually a night editor. I have talked to some sportswriters, and sometimes they get annoyed a bit by the editors' efforts to try to come up with silly puns for the headlines.

Jeremy is now 5-7 and 7-9 on 3-pointers in the last two games, and has raised his 3-pt shoooting pct from 41% to 47% in just that 2-game span.

Crouch is now averaging 14.8, good enough for 7th best in the MVC, and Ruff is averaging 16.4, 3rd place in the MVC.
Among all MVC players who have attempted more than 3 or made more than 2 3-pointers per game, Jeremy is now 5th in the Valley.
(behind Dyer, Holtz, Laurie, Jostn).

Ruff is by far the best assist man at 7.2 per game and he is also 4th in steals at 2.5 per game.

Drake has the league's two top scorers in Leonard Houston (18.5ppg) and Josh Young (16.7ppg) but that won't last long as Drake sooner or later will have to play a team that is D-I (they have played two D-II's and yet a third game against a provisional D-I who was a D-II last year!) or above 150 RPI.

If we don't get more production out of the 2 spot it will be a long night Tuseday.

If we consider Crouch the 2 spot in our offense, then Ill take every night 7-10 from the field, 7-9 from 3 and 4-4 from the line 25 points in 29 minutes. Now I did not see his defense last night, did he guard Foust? If it is his defense then yes I guess we need more from the 2 but offensively not sure exactly how much more he should be expected to give,

Great game.....thanks DC and Bradleyfans for the birthday present. My better half got me her work tickets and we got to sit in the Larry Eustachy memorial seats first row behind the visitor bench. I spoke briefly with SEMO's coach but he was very pleasant and didn't threaten me:)......

Also did a "mini" roooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr with SUPERFAN and even went up and high fived him telling him to keep up the good work. He responded..."thanks I appreciate that". I know SOME might get tired of him but, to me, thats what college hoops is about. Having fun and supporting the team and Jay certainly does just that.

Egolf needs to find his stroke and shooting is the only way to do that...keep shootin Will in the flow of the offense....it will come. Will also tried a pump fake with the defender 5 feet away then proceeded to dribble right into the guy and lost the ball. IF the guys THAT far off...jack it up and make him pay.

Cole-scott can really get to the hoop....last nite he just couldn't finish but man that guy is quick.

Wilson just won't be denied down low.....agree it would have been nice IF he could have finished a few of those putbacks.

JC=GOOD...his legs are back.

Ruf=Good.......RUF would be AMAZING IF players could handle his passes. I saw a couple bounce passes they COULD handle. Maybe DR needs to do that when possible. That quick zip from close range gives some guys fits.

Collins looked good....HIS hands looked better last nite. Still needs to finish strong but thank goodness the guy can shoot freethrows.

Sam M. is getting better and better. I WAS worried early in the year but not anymore. He WILL be good.

Austin actually looks good on D. He got an absolutley BOGUS charge call right in front of me. He got good position and held it...the ref blew it and I let him know it:)

I think Singh needs some minutes. I don't know why he isn't getting them. I realize there are only so many to give but he has looked good on the screen roll.

Again GREAT nite...thanks to the posters that wished me well and GREAT soccer victory. Agreed Herzog blew it but the result made up for it.

Can I just add.....

How about Theron's Hang-Time?!?!?!?!

In the old hockey days we called that (slam by TW) a Pi$$ assist......you'd go to the restroom and while takin care of business the team would score a large roar could be heard and you missed it but were given the assist by your buddies.

Score another Assist for Dru....just walking into the concourse and a HUGE roar goes out.....yes I MISSED the slam.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........

I consider Warren and Cole-Scott the 2 spot and JC at the 3 spot.

Then you are completely right, Warren has been invisible lately and Cole Scott has given us very little from the perimeter.

Warren needs to bring a better offensive game each night, or I guess consistancy while CS has to find a rythum shooting jump shots.

I think per our offense though JC is the 2 spot but all really are interchangeable.

LOL BUBraves, I was just about to say the same thing about SM's tongue being out when he drives to the hoop. I even saw it out when he shot a couple threes. Nothing bad about it but it may just be an instinct of his and if it makes him play better then I say keep doing more of it. As long as he doesn't give a slimer to another guys cheek LOL.

whats maniscalcos deal with the tongue??
every time he drives or gets the ball its out

Sam is just a chip off the ol' block. For those of you not old enough to remember, Sam's father Carl "Cisco" Maniscalco gave a little "wag" of the tongue each time he shot a free throw when he played for the Braves. I wish the video archives went back to the late 70's so that we could compare father and son. I think that Carl was a pretty decent free throw shooter - so if the tongue hanging out helps Sam, keep doin' it!!!!

Ahh just a few points from the game.

-One of you said Egolf was out of place on D a few times. Les also scolded him a couple times for botching a couple offensive plays, one of them was on his dunk. Les took him out on the ensuing timeout after he gave him a chewing. Egolf didn't look to enthused as he went to the back of the huddle. He'll come around, he reminds me of Warren last season. Kind of there doing some good things but still a freshman.

-DC. Oh DC, my mouth salivates to think what he could do if was given 25-35 minutes a game. Yes his defense is a little shoddy at times but is getting better every game. However you can't argue with his offense. He's a machine down low. In 6 of the 8 games he's only missed 1 FG, the other 2 he missed exactly 2 FG's. Plus the great FT shooting where most of his points come from. I believe if DC can keep making his little hook shots, then he may draw more double teams which will allow the perimeter gang to get open for the dish outs. This offense will be deadly then.

-Warren & Cole-Scott, I think they will have there good games and then they will have games when they aren't doing anything. Some of these cupcake games were handled solely by 2 or 3 players, the points wasn't needed by everyone. They both play good D and they will have decent offensive games. Right now I don't see them as every game offensive contributers with JC and Ruff 20+ point candidates along with Wilson/Collins & Salley playing well.

-Wilson, please shoot FT's in practice, thats all I ask LOL. Everything else, your a stud.

-Oh and may I ask the band to play some uptempo motivational songs. Playing the same songs gets old every game. Play something like Eye of the Tiger or some crap like that, something different at least.

Sam having his tongue out looks like a little kid making a mad dash down the hall to his favorite toy LOL. I kept thinking that every time I saw his tongue out.

Didn't see it mentioned yet but JJ was at the game last night. He sat a couple rows behind the Braves bench. He didn't seem to excited to be there though, wasn't standing up when others were or doing any cheering. Oh well, least he's there supportin his Braves.

Maybe he was having lady problems. The girl with him seemed less than enthused to be there.

Jason, I saw the same thing that you did when Egolf went to the huddle and that is why I posted earlier in this thread about Will not concentrating at times last night while he was in the game. I have been watching Egolf's game closely as Will is a player who intrigues me.
Here is my take:
I think that Will is a player who lacks some confidence probably as a result of adjusting from being a big player at a smaller school to the college game. This has and will improve with game experience. ( Will has certainly improved since the begining of the season) At this point though, if Will does something wrong, I am of the opinion that Will gets down on himself a little.
As discussed earlier, I think that Will should not be held back from taking a three point shot. I think that cutting out the three from Will's game could deter his aggressiveness. I was watching the shoot around before the game last night and Will has a nice shot and was draining the three regularly. I am looking forward to the game in which Will hits a three which sparks a breakout game for him. Will needs to develop some game legs. When he does.....Watch out.

I have always been curious why Carl left before his senior year at BU, anyone know why? I believe he missed out on the NIT championship team.
