Was not too happy with the effort at the beginning. However did like how we battled back and stuck in there. EU played very well tonight especially on D and really limited 2nd shots. Gotta come back from this and close out the reg. season

Battled and loss.

Let's finish the regular season with a W Saturday night. Then head to St Louis with a little confidence.

Tough loss, but this game can be proven worthless with a win on Saturday. I am moving past this one and getting hopeful and optimistic about the Drake game...the boys are gonna be HUNGRY!

We got homered by the refs again IMO and they did not let the players decide the outcome. CONSISTANT play calling is all that I ask for. Until the MVC addresses this it will be viewed as a second tier league. Elgin needs to wake up!
Props to DC tonight, he showed up!

Disappointing..

T Wilson has 54 in last two games at Carver against Evansville and like 8 last two at Evansville...

And some of their flops were Van DeGarde esque!

I hate to admit this, but I don't think simply addressing the officiating will move the Valley up to BCS first-tier status. Especially when we only get one team into the tournament.

I haven't ever seen Evansville play such inspired defense. Their defense won the game for them. Bradley's was almost as good, but with Dodie unable to shoot, Theron in foul trouble because of a couple absurd foul calls, and Sam getting held and smothered all night, we didn't have anyone else to step up and pick up the offense.

This game will mean nothing if Bradley can beat Drake Saturday. And it might benefit them, because I think they would rather play Evansville than Wichita State in the first round of the MVC tournament.

I would agree DC.....I would rather play Evansville too

Not addressing it will only keep us back and I agree that is not the only thing keeping the league back from bridging the gap. Teams not putting enough resources into their teams and scheduling mediocre teams are also to blame.

I also blame Elgin for not doing more with the league when he had a chance after BU and WSU went to the Sweet 16. We should have tried to expand the league with Butler and others and put some pressure on the constant bottom feeders to step up or leave. We are now in a situation I believe that Valley will either improve the next 2 years or be left behind. Schools like BU, WSU and CU are doing all they can to create an atmosphere for consistent fan support in order to create the revenue needed to compete. The bottom feeders are comfortable it appears to allow the refs we have because they want the money and really do not care about the consistent quality of the league. Why spend all that money on new facilities and such when teams like CU, SIU, BU and WSU will consistently bring in the coffers for the league.

So lets say Evansville wins on Sat (against UNI) and WSU loses... that put E-Ville in the 5?

Yes. I also believe Evansville will get the #4 and Bradley the #5 if Evansville and WSU win and Bradley loses, forcing the round-robin between the three teams.

SFP, you are right on, but what you are dreaming about won't happen. Bradley needs to get out of the valley. I think getting rid of Jim Bain will help, but DE likes what he has created and will not allow it to become a BU dominated league, which will surely happen with the current level of talent...

Congratulations on a great game David Collins!!! The best game of his career, I believe. How many blocks tonight? What's the BU record?

I don't understand the logic that the MVC will be considered a first-tier (BCS) conference by addressing the officiating. I don't think that's gonna do it!

Read my response to your first question regarding the refs. You are right that is not all that is needed.

A BU dominated league? Let's finish higher than 4th before we talk Valley dominance

Lefty I agree but what I really would like to see happen is that another league is formed with the likes of CU, WSU, Butler, Xavier, Memphis, BU, SLU, SIU and a few other schools that are really putting the effort into their programs. Otherwise we will only have ourselves to blame when the BCS really limits who plays in the NCAA/BCS Tourney. There is too much money and if there is something we all should have learned this year is that greedy people will do what benefits them and not worry about the whole.

My "dream" conference would be-

1 Bradley
2 Creigton
3 Drake
4 Butler
5 St. Louis
6 Dayton
7 Xavier
8 DePaul
9 Notre Dame
10 Villanova

I can dream, right?

I just don't see any of them moving though. Especially Butler,Xavier and Memphis....it's a nice thought but I don't see us going anywhere unless there was some weaker Valley teams dropped out for some reason...

Btw, thought 'Nova was in Pittsburgh for some reason, instead of Philly. Replace them with Valpo to keep the teams fairly close.
