Miami (Ohio) just lost to UMass in the quarterfinal round of the MAC Tournament for their first loss of the season. Miami is now 31-1, and their hopes of an NCAA Tournament bid probably just evaporated.
Final score- UMass 87 Miami (OH) 83-

If they don't still get in, that would be a terrible PR move.

They had a weak SOS and the MAC isn't exactly a power conference with their bottom dwellers in the 300 range. However, going undefeated in the regular season is quite an accomplishment, even against weak teams, so I think they should get something for their effort. Hoping the NCAA selection committee has a moment of lucidity and Miami gets into the Dance.

Here's one opinion that says Miami should get an at-large bid:
This would make the MAC a two-bid league. Whodathunkit??

Miami OH should be in. Maybe playing in the First 4 in Dayton, but they should be in. The MAC is not the BIG but it's also not the NEC. Winning every game in the regular season counts for something.

I Agree Miami Ohio must get in! I know they are not one of the best 68, but going Undefeated in the reg.season has to sway the Committee! I also was so excited when we beat Liberty and now like Belmont they fall to a 9th seed in the first round of their tournament! I've read so many top seeds have fallen, which makes the Regular season inconsequential! 🤔 Why should I go to regular season games if they are meaningless? At minimum the Winner of a conference should get a first round bye! Maybe even the top 2! I mean for the Valley, the top 2 are automatically in the final 4! Maybe we could have overcome UNI is we were fully rested! Belmont certainly deserves final 4 for winning the reg.season Valley! For the Major conferences like Big Ten playing in Chicago, why should I go see a game when the top 9 most likely are dancing and so there tournament is meaningless! March Madness is what it's all about and for now, it would have been nice to have attended Cedar Falls, Iowa! UNI has a legitimate shot I believe at the sweet 16! Definitely rooting for them come real tournament time!

I'm calling it now, Miami OH will make the NCAA Tournament.

Sure if you go based purely off NET they miss it, but the undefeated regular season is very noteworthy and it is not like the committee ONLY uses NET rankings.

The Big Ten has the step-ladder bracket to favor the higher seeded teams, but it didn't help Illinois.

The Illini just lost to Wisconsin in the quarterfinal round, 91-88 in overtime-
Of course, they will still get an at-large bid to the NCAAT, but it will drop their seed a couple spots

I only watched the last 4 minutes and all of the overtime, but I thought the refs made a few bad calls that hurt Illinois. Even the announcers stated a couple of questionable calls. But, Illinois missed too many free throws and if they were made, I believe they would have won.

How can you guard people when they can carry the ball

Dayton with an incredible 5 points in the final 14 seconds knocks off #1 seed Saint Louis in the A-10 tourney
70-69

An wild ending in the Dayton-St. Louis game. The lead changed back and forth several times down the stretch, and St. Louis held a 66-65 lead with 26 seconds left. But then St. Louis was called for a 5-second inbound call and Dayton got possession back and scored on a 3-point shot to go ahead 68-66 with 14 seconds left. Then St. Louis came back down and Robbie Avila hit a quick three to re-take the lead 69-68 with 3 seconds left. Avila had been 0-6 from three before that (he shoots 43% for the season). Then Dayton threw up a heave with less than a second left that missed badly, but it was tipped in with 0.3 seconds left to take back the lead 70-69. A Dayton player left the bench and celebrated on the floor with the Dayton players, apparently thinking time had run out. It could have been called a technical foul and given St. Louis free throws, but nothing was called. Then St. Louis tried a full court shot at the buzzer that wasn't close.
So, another 1-seed goes down. Final score- Dayton 70 St. Louis 69- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401851275

And SEC #1 seed Florida loses 91-74 to #4 Vanderbilt- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401851569
#4 seed Vanderbilt will play the winner of the other semifinal between #3 seed Arkansas and #15 seed Ole Miss.

Here is video of the final few seconds where Dayton scores the winning basket with 0.3 left, and a player from the Dayton bench runs onto the floor and hugs his teammate who scored, causing the officials to stop play (the clock was paused after a basket since it is in the final minute).

A lot of crazy endings in yesterday's games. Utah Valley University lost to California Baptist 67-65 because they missed an easy dunk that would have tied the game. If UVU had won, it would have been their first NCAA Tournament ever. Instead, Cal Baptist gets their first NCAAT bid.

This was the final season for the 64-year old Western Athletic Conference. They will rebrand as a new conference, the UAC (United Athletic Conference) composed of three remaining members of the WAC (Abilene Christian, Tarleton State, and Texas-Arlington), five schools from the ASUN (Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, North Alabama, and West Georgia), and one school from the Ohio Valley (Little Rock). The other WAC teams will join either the Big West Conference (Cal Baptist and Utah Valley) or the Big Sky Conference (Southern Utah and Utah Tech).
