Predictions about MVC transfers playing elsewhere this season

...
Antonio Reeves- The MVC's 2nd leading scorer (20.1 ppg) is now at Kentucky. Kentucky is deep and talented, and they have 3-point shooters (they were 2nd in the SEC in team 3pt%), but I think Reeves will get significant playing time and could be a starter. I'll guess 12-13 ppg.

Tyreke Key- Former 1st team All-MVC guard from Indiana State is playing his final season at Tennessee. He's coming off a serious shoulder injury and surgery, but should be well healed. Tennessee is another talented and deep SEC team with several returning scorers. I think Key will play off the bench and average 9-10 ppg. I hope he does better than that.

Former ISU player Antonio Reeves has been Kentucky's leading scorer in both of their games so far, despite not starting. He played 25 minutes off the bench in Kentucky's first game, a 95-63 win over Howard, and scored 22 points on 8-16 shooting, 6-12 from three.
And he played 27 minutes off the bench in Kentucky's 77-52 win over Duquesne Friday night, and scored 18 points on 5-9 shooting, and 4-6 from three.

Former Indiana State player Tyreke Key has also been Tennessee's top scorer in both of their games so far, despite coming off the bench in both games. He had a team-leading 26 points in Tennessee's first game, a 99-80 win over #2 ranked Gonzaga. He was 8-12 overall, and 4-7 from three. In their second game, a 75-43 win over Tennessee Tech, Key had a team-leading 17 points, 5-10 overall, 4-8 from three.

Da Coach on 10/22/2022 said:

A.J. Green now sidelined for 3 weeks with injury-

Ex-UNI player A.J. Green is apparently still injured. He is still on the Milwaukee Bucks' roster, but has not appeared in any games since the Bucks's 10/22/2022 game

Missouri beat Penn last night 92-85.

Former Bradley player Sean East came off the bench again and in 15 minutes, he had 6 points, 1 assist, and 3 turnovers.
Former UNI player Noah Carter had a big game. In 27 minutes he had 28 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. He was 8-15 overall, and 6-9 from three.
Former Missouri State star and MVC leading scorer last season, Isiaih Mosley, did not play. He only played 16 minutes off the bench in Missouri's first game, and scored just 4 points. According to Missouri head coach Dennis Gates, it was just a simple "coaching decision"-
https://www.columbiatribune.com/stor...n/69642425007/

I am not buying that explanation. There is more to this story, IMO.

Here’s the more to it…..

Mosely was not with the team Tuesday night as Missouri beat Wichita 88-84 in OT.

Missouri head coach Gates: “Isiah's just working through some personal things and I want to give him privacy at this moment,” Gates said. “But there's nothing behavioral, there's nothing from the standpoint of anything else or injury, there's nothing like that's taken place.”

Interesting Stuff

In this pregame article from Tuesday's game at Wichita State a Missouri blogger reported this-
However, Mosley was reportedly "absent" and not on the bench during the game, as Dubl R 1 posted-
https://www.si.com/college/missouri...osley-dennis-gates-wichita-state-shockers-sec

So he may have opted to stay in the locker room or maybe was told to stay there. Missouri plays again Sunday against SEMO.
Interestingly, it's been reported that Mosley is getting $250,000 in NIL money from a Missouri NIL collective. I wonder if that money is guaranteed?
https://twitter.com/NateBrenner4/status/1596950531854901249

Mosley is averaging 19.7 minutes per game off the bench, and 10.5 ppg. He sat out one other game back on November 11 against Penn, by coach's choice.
Sean East is averaging 21.8 minutes per game off the bench, and 8.6 ppg. I have to believe neither of them is happy about their reserve status.

I also noticed Terry Roberts did not play in Georgia's easy win tonight over Florida A&M-
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401483056

He reportedly missed the game due to illness.
Terry is the leading scorer for Georgia, and leads in several other categories-
Georgia team stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/stats/_/id/61

I didn’t believe TR would have this much of an impact at Georgia - good for him… I like the replacements (Duke, Pop & Hickman at point guard) and feel like the change worked out well for both (especially financially for TR) [a birdie shared TR deposited a $100k NIL check]

https://twitter.com/atlgreenlight/st...fNgUcCcN4m8rJw

Terry has looked good so far. The biggest knock on him is his 25% three point shooting.
But keep in mind that Georgia's non-conference schedule has been extremely weak.
Their Strength of Schedule is 269th out of 363, and all 7 of their wins are Quadrant 4 wins, the lowest category.
Their SOS of 269 ranks a distant 14th out of 14 SEC teams.
https://www.warrennolan.com/basketba...e?team=Georgia

They are 7-3, but their 7 wins have come against teams with NET ranking of 284, 327, 195, 297, 324, 318, and 355. The three losses were when they played better teams- NET 81, 49, and 134. They have also played only 2 road games, and lost both. Georgia's schedule gets a lot tougher from here with 2/3 of their remaining opponents in the top 100 NET

Mosley reportedly is dealing with a "personal" issue

Missouri is getting clobbered at home by Kansas-
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401483203

After not playing in Missouri's game at Wichita State on Nov. 29, Isiaih Mosley returned and played just 6 minutes off the bench in their game Dec.4 against SEMO, and was scoreless. Today in their big game against Kansas, he is dressed and on the bench, but has not played at all despite Missouri's offense struggling to keep up with Kansas.

Mosley not traveling with Missouri - from STLtoday.com
"For the sixth time this season Missouri guard Isiaih Mosley won't see the floor Wednesday night when the No. 20 Tigers play at No. 13 Arkansas. But this time the reserve guard won't be on the bench either.

Mosley did not make the trip with Mizzou from Columbia on Tuesday for what the team only described as undisclosed "personal reasons," a team spokesperson told the Post-Dispatch Wednesday afternoon.

Hours after the team flew to Arkansas on Tuesday evening, Mosley posted a video on his Instagram account of him driving his car with the clock on his dashboard reading 12:04 a.m."

Well Terry Roberts has improved his 3 pt %, and just dropped 26 pts on 22 ranked Auburn. Would have been real nice if he had stayed at the Hilltop, but like a lot of talented mid-major players detailed in this thread, he transferred to a big conference and is proving he can play there. I know we rag on players jumping ship, even on players like Yesufu, but he Yesufu transferred after being a back up, maintained a roster spot at Kansas, won a championship, and is probably getting some amount of NIL money.

Its easy to see why players make this choice despite how we are frustrated by it being mid-major fans. My only hope is that more players stick around for longer at the big schools and we can see overall talent levels spike upwards like in the 1980s, and more talent is eventually trickled down to mid-majors as new open spots are not available at the big schools.

Bradley has actually been fortunate by comparison to most other MVC teams. They only lost 2 players last year to the transfer portal (Terry Roberts & Jayson Kent). Nearly every MVC team lost more players...
Belmont (All-OVC players JaCobi Wood & Will Richard)
Evansville (Blake Sisley, Jawaun Newton, Shamar Givance, Emmette Page, Troy Boynton, Iyen Enaruna)
ILSU (Antonio Reeves, Mark Freeman, Sy Chatman, Josiah Strong, Howard Fleming, Abdou Ndiaye, Alston Andrews, Emon Washington, Elijah Williams),
Indiana State (Tyreke Key, Micah Thomas, Simon Wilbar, Nick Hittle, Quimari Peterson, Dearon Tucker)
Missouri State (Isiaih Mosley, Demarcus Sharp, Ja'Monta Black, Isaac Haney, Keaton Hervey, Melvin Ebonkoli, Nic Tata, Elijah Bridgers, Lu'cye Patterson, Skylar Wicks),
Murray State (OVC POY KJ Williams, starters Trae Hannibal, Tevin Brown, & Justice Hill, Dionte Bostic, plus DaQuan Smith, Nick McMullen, Matt Smith, Elijah Farr, Jackson Sivills),
UNI (Antwan Kimmons, Noah Carter, AJ Green [entered portal but opted for NBA])
SIU (Ben Harvey, Kyler Filewich, Steven Verplancken, Sekou Dembele)
UIC (Damaria Franklin, Zion Griffin, Jalen Johnson, Marcus Larsson, RayQwandis Mitchell, Maurice Commander)
Valparaiso (Sheldon Edwards, Keyondre Young, Trey Woodyard)
Drake (Deven Dahlke, Jordan Kwiecinski)

Good point, Coach. Question: Do Bradley's coaches have the recruiting prowess to rebuild a team (like Murray) if the portal takes a toll?

Isiaih Mosley finally got back on the court last night in Missouri's game against Arkansas. He played 19 minutes of the bench, and scored 8 points. It was the first game he's played since December 17. He missed the last 6 games, and has missed a total of 9 games this year. The only announcement so far is that he was dealing with personal issues.

Terry Roberts- One of Bradley's two transfers, and the 2022 MVC Newcomer of the Year, will play at Georgia...

Terry and the Georgia team have fallen on hard times in the last couple weeks. They got blown out last night at Auburn 94-73, and now have lost 4 of their last 5 SEC games to fall to 4-5 in the conference. Georgia's leading scorer on the season, Terry Roberts had only 7 points, 2 assists, and 3 turnovers. He played only 20 minutes as Auburn jumped out to a huge lead early, and Georgia head coach Mike White pulled all his starters. No starter played more than 21 minutes as Auburn built their lead to as much as 29 points.
