Press Conference Running Highlights

I like the guy and more importantly I hope the players and recruits will rally around him.

Anyone who has information about the players please fill us in! If he can keep the team intact and keep the incoming class, I then expect a pretty good season. The next 3 weeks are as crucial as the last 3.

Gotta' like his passion for Bradley hoops and toward his job.
I really liked that his immediate focus was on building relationships with the current guys on the team.

I wondered a lot last season how our players who were healthy would perform under a different coach. Would be great to actually see that happen next season to discover if our current guys actually have talent or are just mediocre. I believe they DO have a lot of potential. We could even see a difference in WE's performance, as I think a lot of it is mental.
Don't know about everyone else, but I get psyched when I hear him talk about how his team will have a strong mentality and that we will outwork every team. I have to believe a lot of his success last season was due to that, with many new players and up against quality teams in the NIT...on the road.

I know DS was sitting in the stands before the presser started MC went up and grabbed him to go back stage and meet GF then when DS came out he sat with the team.

GF's KS team went 12-2 at home last season. This is the kind of home success that BU should have during his regime. I know that the MAC is no Valley, but going from crowds of 3500 or so to 9500 is a big difference.

I hope he understands the importance of beating ISU (red) EVERY season at Carver.

I thought the press was a bit soft with their questions. I hope to see a few good stories come out that are being worked behind the scene. I also hope that GF is successful getting all the players behind him.

What is the chance of GF pulling in all 3 recruits?

I just returned from the press conference. Since most saw or listened to it, I won't go into detail what was said. But I a chance to talk to some of the players after the press conference.
The seniors- Dodie Dunson, Sam Maniscalco, and Andrew Warren were not there. Every other player was there, including Andrew Davis, Aaron Ganson, and Charonn Woods, who told me he was planning on returning next year with the team. I think Andrew is not in town, and is working out in preparation for his predraft camp at Portsmouth. Will has dyed his hair a golden blonde color. I hope it's just a phase.
BTW, Coach Ford did say he had met with the team last night, but he had also met with Donivine Stewart prior to the press conference. Donivine sat with the team in the special area closer to the podium reserved for the players. He has not contacted the other recruits, but that is a high priority for him to do as soon as possible.
Coach Ford was most effusive about Bradley's facilities. He said he has not seen any better than what Bradley has. He was also impressed with the fan support, and was amazed there were so many people there for a midday press conference.
To sum up his coaching philosophy, he said he uses 3 words- Confidence, trust, and attack. He likes to push the ball on offense, and play a fast tempo.

Everything sounds good.

BTW, the reason the press didn't have too many questions during the regular part of the press conference is that were told they would have free access to any of the people, including the players after the conference. The media was especially interested in interviewing Dyricus after the PC. I am sure we'll see a few quotes from him as well as from Dr. Cross and Coach Ford on the news tonight, and in the PJ Star tomorrow.

I had a chance to talk briefly to Dyricus before the press got to him, and he was very excited and happy, but he has not decided yet what he will do.

Great to hear. Now he has to transfer his passion and attitude on to the players and recruits!

So far, I like what I hear.:) I will be supportive but neutral until we see what GF does this Fall.

I added this to my last post, but there have been several new posts since then, so here it is again-

Can't wait to see him around campus! I would run into Les randomly on campus, but he never really made a large scale effort to get to know the students/fans.

If Ford gets out there and pounds the pavement, he'll have us students backing him hardcore, or at least till two of his best players are out for the year with injury and we have a dreadful season.

Hopefully he was excited and happy about the thought of being a Brave next season! :D

The first bit of good news this week was getting Coach Ford.
The second bit would be news of DSE returning to play for the Braves.
The third bit would be news of DS and another of our recruits to stay commited.
For me, this comes in order of best news.

I would be even more excited heading into the off-season if all 3 bits of news come true.

This has been a great summary of what went happened @ the press conf. Was disapointed there were not more questions asked even though they did have time for 1 on 1 w/ the coach. We need to get a BF press pass for one of our posters so we could get questions answered. (lol)
The thing that impressed me was his enthusiasm and the fact that he is getting at it tomorrow so @ least the players will know what to expect right away and won't have to worry where they stand w/ him for very long.
It was great for him to say the players had many questions for him last night at their meeting and they wanted to get to know him. I am sure they were told to stand for him but it was still nice to see and they even clapped (didn't seem to even bother them).
A great program and a great day for BU.
PS: I beleive he is going to be on WMBD w/ Greg & Dan tomorrow.

I got a chance to listen at work. I liked a lot of what he had to say. I think he will be surprised how much support he will get from the community. As some have said, it is going to be a surprise for him to go from 3500 at a game to over 9000!

Believe I heard he was going to have workouts in the near future (tomorrow?), I am sure to evaluate what kind of team he has inherited. I like what I heard about what kind of offense and defensive pressure he likes.

Just really excited for the future of BU basketball!

GO BU!!!
