Prouty System Player Ratings

I came across this over on the ShockerNet board and figured I'd see what Bradley's roster looked like. Just something that takes into account total production as well as minutes played and rolls it all up into one nice picture where each player can be numerically-compared. One example I saw showed the final ratings for the 2006-07 ACC season. It correctly predicted four of the five first-team All-ACC performers. I'll include those five just as a form of comparison.

.589 JJ Redick
.569 Shelden Williams
.514 Tyler Hansbrough
.515 Craig Smith
.513 Jared Dudley

(through 14 games)

.441 Daniel Ruffin
.387 Jeremy Crouch
.359 Theron Wilson
.349 Andrew Warren
.345 David Collins
.327 Sam Maniscalco
.318 Sam Singh
.317 Matt Salley
.208 Will Egolf
.201 Tyrone Cole-Scott
.194 Rashad Austin

Here are the Prouty Ratings for Wichita State through 13 games:

.378 Matt Braeuer
.373 P.J. Couisnard

.329 Gal Mekel
.232 Mantas Griskenas
.160 Wendell Preadom
.143 Aaron Ellis

And we wonder why so many people want to start DC, and why we do not seem that good without Ruff, even though Sam is scoring his points.

Do you know what Sam's rating in the last 3 games is?

.441 Daniel Ruffin
.387 Jeremy Crouch
.359 Theron Wilson
.349 Andrew Warren
.345 David Collins

I don't have easy access to those kind of splits (since I have season totals in the spreadsheet), but went ahead and did Sam's last 3 games manually.

I recalculated the ratings giving Win Effect only 10% of the total. Offensive Efficiency, Total Offense, and Possessions Gained each account for 30% of these adjusted ratings. This change doesn't have a huge overall impact, but it does help guys who shine on a team that's not doing well. It also helps to offset the pull that great teams have on average players.

Here are the adjusted Bradley player ratings:

.462 Daniel Ruffin
.386 David Collins
.381 Jeremy Crouch
.364 Theron Wilson
.363 Sam Singh
.350 Andrew Warren
.341 Sam Maniscalco
.324 Matt Salley
.229 Will Egolf
.227 Rashad Austin
.209 Tyrone Cole-Scott

As someone that would love to see DC getting more minutes, I would also like to see just how those added minutes would affect his Prouty Rating.

Also telling is the fact that Ruffin remains in the Top 10 Valley players when using the adjusted ratings, which I feel is a better representation of the top players in the league.

Hopefully we'll get to see DC play tonight! Thank you President Glasser!
Yeah, I'm hoping we see DC as well...because that would likely mean that we would be up by 15 or 20. Otherwise, he and Egolf have no business being on the court if we are actually trying to win these games.

Yes, because our starting center has all of 16 points in his last 97 minutes of playing time while shooting an outstanding 33% from the field!

And yet DC has had thousands of hours in practice to prove to the coaching staff that he can provide better minutes than Salley, Singh, or Austin...and he clearly hasn't done it.
He got a chance to come in and do something against Evansville and just wandered around aimlessly for 5 minutes. Sorry...I don't need to see anymore of that unless it is garbage time.

DC's offense and rebounding numbers, given his limited minutes, are either right on pace or surpass Salley's.

Maybe we should just kick him off the team now and not waste that scholarship on a senior that will contribute nothing to the team! In fact, why don't we free up TCS' scholarship too! Let's find someone else to do our recruiting while we're at it since two of the six new players are showing something.

Salley___23.2 mpg___.462 fg%___.683 ft%___6.2 rpg___5.6 ppg

Collins___10.4 mpg___.683 fg%___.737 ft%___3.0 rpg___4.4 ppg

Salley must be a GREAT player in practice!
