Great job by Albert getting his $$$$
I still think this is a horrible deal for the Angels, DH or not
As a Cardinal fan, I'm insanely bitter that he left for purely fiscal reasons, but he gave me a decade of great memories, so all the luck to him.
Very much agree.. Even though Cardinals fans don't like the news, the team and organization is better off not signing Pujols to the huge contract.
Pujols agrees to 10 year, $250 million and will sign with the Angels.
The Angels are also pursuing top free agent pitcher C.J. Wilson and are close to signing him. They would then be investing almost $350 million into 2 players who are already in their 30's.
It is called buying your championship , this is why baseball needs a salary cap, for me I am happy he went to the American league instead of Miami as we play the Marlins 18 games a season.

...
However, I don't believe the Angels have bought a championship yet!
I completely agree! This is exactly why I refuse to hate the Yankees simply because they spend so much money. That's an MLB problem and I don't blame the Yankees for playing within the rules of Major League Baseball!

Interesting to note that per twitter reports, the Marlins were the high bidders for both Pujols and Wilson.

this is going to get sticky -- leave it up or take it down?

Not yet but that is what they are trying to do and I kind of like their chances.
The Yankees and Red Sox have done it several times, and the Marlins also spent their way to their first championship in 1997.![]()
