Great to have Race signed. He should have a terrific senior season. For anyone who missed it, here is an article that mentions him as one of the top players in Ohio this year-

As practice begins, area players to watch for 2025-26 boys basketball season

The NCAA signing period is Nov. 12-19, but the National Letter of Intent for basketball no longer exists. Athletes like Race Kowalczyk sign scholarship agreements with Bradley.

St. John's Jesuit of Toledo, Ohio, is 1-0 after starting their 2025-26 season Friday night (Nov. 28) with a 72-21 win over Scott HS, a public school in Toledo.
2026 Bradley commit Race Kowalczyk had 31 points to lead SJJ.
They play again Sunday afternoon (Nov. 30) in a neutral site game at Baldwin Wallace University against Walsh Jesuit HS of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

I don't know much about roster construction / projecting that out a few years, so looking for some thoughts. Where do we think he fits? Looking at some of the other younger players, he seems at least size / position wise to be similar to Zobrist / Richardson / van der Knaap. Is there somewhere else he fits - better at forward than guard? I know bigger guards are nice, and maybe we want as many as possible, but it seems like a large power forward (yes, a rare find for a mid-tier, but can be a dominant force in our conference) would be nice. Also wondering if some of our younger players would see this signing and decide to seek playing time elsewhere.

With his size (6'6", 190 lb), he would fit in as a wing player. And you are right, that he is similar in size and skills to Zobrist and Richardson. All 3 can handle the ball well (Zobrist and Richardson played mostly point guard in high school) and are good playmakers and shooters. And a team can never have too many good shooters. Van der Knaap is taller, not as much of a playmaker, and plays a forward position. I expect Wardle to focus on landing another big man or two, considering Meta, Corey, and A.J. are all in their final year of eligibility.

I think you need to separate players not by size but by ability. Matt Zobrist is better at playing outside where Jashon Herny was better playing down low getting rebounds

I do have concerns about the post next season...really need a couple proven players in the paint maybe D1 transfers or a Juco!🤔🤔🤔🎯🎯🎯

No doubt Wardle is aware of our needs for next year. Hope he can recruit proven post players who can immediately rebound and score in the low post.(y)

In this free agency era of basketball, I don't think you can project a few years out, it's tough enough constructing rosters season to season.

Seems like BW is moving toward a guard heavy team that shoots the 3 (a lot) with a 7 footer to clog up the middle. Makes sense in the day and age when the 3 will make or break you, but definitely does seem to leave a hole at forward. I don't know what we'd do if we lost AJ or Corey at this point.

I feel like this season our bigs are needed more for D in the paint and rebounding. So far they're not doing a great job, though AJ's D has been great. Really missing a power FW like Hannah who could give you 12-15 pts a night. We don't have that right now.

Hoping Race can join the 1K club for BU...by the end of his Jr season! ;)
I haven't been this excited about a Bradley recruit since (well before M. Zobrist) Hickman. He turned out pretty good for BU.

Coach Wardle was in Toledo last night to watch Race Kowalczyk and his team, St. John's Jesuit beat a very good Clay HS team (Oregon, Ohio, just east of Toledo) on the road 42-41 to improve to 5-0. Race had 15 points.
Through their first 5 games, Race is averaging 19.8 ppg.

In their previous game, here is a video of when Race passed the 1,000 point mark for his high school career-

Toledo St. John's Jesuit won again tonight (Friday, 12/12) to improve to 6-0.
They beat St. Francis de Sales of Toledo 61-37.
Race Kowalczyk was the leading scorer in the game with 26 points and 6 rebounds. He is now averaging 20.8 ppg.
