Hard to believe, but he will be missed.
Story is not up on the PJStar website, but I am sure it will be soon.

If it's not online, and not mentioned anywhere on the other board, can you give some details?

RB tested positive for weed after the NCAA games last March.
The NCAA has no room for appeal and RB must serve a one yr. suspension.

This is paradoxic, and I hope some will remember this article:
http://www.bradleyfans.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=22743#22743

Anthony Passley, one of Tennessee's top recruits, not only got caught with marijuana in his possession, he had cocaine as well, and had so much of it that he was charged not just with possession but with possession with intent to deal the stuff
and was involved in a motor vehicle accident and other violations. BUT--he has already finished his "compliance program" and will likely not miss many nor possibly any games at all!!
Sad when the NCAA takes an entire year away from a kid for just testing positive for a non-performance enhancing substance, but if you get in a car accident loaded with cocaine and marijuana, then that's OK, and as soon as you finish your compliance program, you're cleared to play.

I hope Ray keeps his head up. Sounds like a victimless crime.

I wonder how this will affect the A Warren redshirt debate.

I could have sworn there was a player for UC a few years back that was caught speeding through a construction zone and the police also found remnants of joints in the ashtray. Huggins kicked him off the team (I think it may have been in the offseason - like in late Spring), but was cleared to play by the time the next season started.

In the article in the Journal Star, Ray is saying all the right things (except for the I had no choice). I hope he does learn from this and come back strong.

The penalty is harsh, but hopefully it's a life changing one for Ray and a lesson to others. If Ray is a good kid, and I think he is, this will make him a better person. Hang in there, Ray. Work on your game and nail the books.

WOW........this is SAD news ...........let's hope he stays and learns from this lesson....everyone must play by the same rules.......there is NO-PLACE FOR DRUGS for a college athelete in my book  ...........NO EXCUSES.......EVER!

Time to grow-up and learn from this

I see that the PJS still doesn't have the story up on the web site.
Could there be more that has caused them to pull the story despite all the rest of the 7/22 news is already there?

the ncca is a joke. ray smokes a little weed, a victimless crime, and gets a year suspension. siu's tatum gets a dui and the ncaa does nothing. tatum's act could have killed an innocent person. doesn't seem even close to being fair.

just seems like the ncaa is picking on bu. first the pob and franklin mess and now this. boo ncaa.

Wonder if Ray could go to juco and play a year, but doubt it as the NCAA has probably closed that loophole by requiring he serve the year penalty when he gets back.

2 years of Ray Brown, and ZERO production. This is looking like a waste of a scholarship, and is setting the program back. No redshirt last year, and now the loss of a year this year. At best, we'll get 2 years of production from this kid, but we don't even know if he can play at this level yet. At what point do you look in another direction with this scholarship?

you can't just cut him. the coaching staff and the university need to help ray, not drop him.

Where do you draw the line? Mike Suggs was sent packing for the same offense.

You forgot, Ray could have gotten in a car and killed someone too... Or, if he wasn't caught and punished he may have continued and got into worse trouble.

I have no sympathy for Ray! This is absolute ^^, why do we have to start most seasons with something like this? Granger,Suggs, POB/Franklin, Battle. Why can???‚¬?„?t we have a normal year where no one gets suspended and then go on to win? I think Bradley should take away his scholarship. That may seem harsh, but by not red shirting him last year and this he is going to play his first real minutes as a junior. The team would be better of using the scholarship for a 07 or 08 recruit. He can leave Bradley and go play in the NAIA. I???‚¬?„?m glad he was the first one to call Coach less after last season to start working out, I???‚¬?„?m sure puffing the magic dragon was doing wonders for his jump shot. I don???‚¬?„?t want to hear that its just a little weed, he goes to school for free, eats for free, gets his books for free. There is a responsibility that comes with that.
