find the player with the most talent and basketball IQ that we can get....don't really care much whether he is a 1, 2, 3, 4, don't think we need a 5 till next year....

MCD, I agree that we use 1 scholarship for a high basketball IQ type player, but I strongly believe we use the second remaining scholarship for a 4 or a 5.
--preferably a 6'6 or taller 4---

I don't agree with that. Sam and Warren will be as solid of a 1-2 as any in the league next year, and the following year. That's a good start. Theron Wilson is good now, and I anticipate will get a little better. One has to think that at least 1 of our JUCO's (beyone TW) will become a reliable contributor. I believe that Will Egolf and Anthony Thompson will be able to contribute as well. Kind of the way we lost a lot after '99-'00 and didn't expect much in '00-'01 (and maybe similar to ISU's lumps last year translating into success this year), I am hoping lower expectations and a year of experience will result in a suprisingly successful year next year.

It's WAY too early to predict gloom and doom. We should have learned that after last year's team showed us just how valuable experience is. We might be bad, but we have some young, talented players who are taking lumps now that should pay dividends later.

Great post BB along w/ your previous one. I believe we all bought into the hype to much and we should have realized, as we looked at previous years, that it takes one or two years at the D1 level to contribute a whole lot. As Wessler said in his blog how many JC players have been successful in their first year at BU?
I agree that SM & AW will be a very fine back court for us for the next 2 years-they may not be the flashiest guards in the league but will be more then capable of getting the job done and if EW & AT can improve like most players do between their fresh and soph years then we are going to be in good shape next year and great shape the 2 years after that.
As for this year we can only hope that some of these guys finally "GET IT" before we go to St Louis.

We need a big who can play good defense and rebound. It doesn't really matter to me what size he is.

O&B, I know that I am dreaming out loud, but I would like us to get a Carlton Fay type of player with one of the remaining scholarships.

We have enough 6'4 type guys in our lineup.imo
