Recruits/players on campus?

he's 2 months behind on workouts, conditioning, learning the Division-I game, and blending with teammates...

we saw how important of a factor that was last year with Stefan Zecevic arriving late - well after everyone else........

Remember - we heard lines like this (and I am quoting from message board posts and columns)
"Zecevic stood out..."
"I heard from a very reliable source that Zecevic just lit it up ..."
"Zecevic is a stat sheet filler..."
“Stefan was the best player on the court,” Ford said. “He was flying around on defense and hitting shots.”
"As a group, I wouldn't trade these guys for any freshman class we've had or any freshman class in the league"
"...have a chance to help from Day 1"
"Stefan has the best motor of anybody on our roster. He's high-activity and a really good on-the-ball defender. He's a good passer and a good open-court player."

...and various other over-the-top comments about how ready he was and how he'd contribute to our depth immediately, could play several positions, and was the fastest developer on the team .
Any time anyone rational noted that he wasn't even one of the top 5 players on his own obscure prep school team, they got shouted down & mocked, yet they were right on.

-then - it probably had something to do with why Zecevic never got any better - in fact he seemed to get worse from when he first arrived -- his best two outings all year were the Red-White and the games in the Bahamas against the weakest opponent. It was all downhill from there and he never helped our depth at all.
We went from have "quality depth at every position" and "more depth than we have had in many years" to having zero depth & having to play our only D-I caliber players 40 minutes per game frequently.

Hopefully fans don't send these kids emails. Does that actually happen?

... fans tweet them messages and post on their Facebook.......when fans & boosters contact recruits that ARE NOT YET SIGNED that really causes headaches.......

Iowa is publicly letting their fans know NOT to tweet or contact recruits - even though I have seen many, many examples and it goes on all the time.

Other schools are doing it, too - LINK, LINK

BTW - several Wichita State fans tweeted directly to Peyton Allen ...even more violations... ;)

It's against the rules for fans to tweet recruits?

First - EVERY school wants their fans & boosters NOT to tweet or contact recruits or post things on their Facebook or social sites.
The problem is that many such efforts to contact unsigned recruits can be viewed as illegal contact by boosters in an effort to sway the recruit's decisions.

There are exceptions - but for the most part you should not do it as it creates potential problems for your school - they may be required to report the possible violation to NCAA
If you just tweet ABOUT the recruit then you are OK but the line is blurred as to where social media postings might be meant to sway a recruit's decision - see below

There have been cases of schools going after their own fans to get them to stop contacting recruits
NC State did just that to one of their own fans for publicly posting to John Wall to come to NC State (btw- he did NOT go to NC State, he went to Kentucky)

Schools have been trying to tell their fans & boosters this stuff for years but the common misconception that fans keep propagating is that nobody cares what gets said on Twitter or Facebook.

ONE last thing - Bradley has taken many steps to let all their own fans & boosters must follow these rules...

"Do not make contact with prospects.."

"Social media outlets should not be used to contact (directly or indirectly) a PSA (prospective student athlete), their parents, legal guardian, or coach.
"The internet is considered to be a form of communication..."
