whatever you do, get the rest of the students/band on the same page.
the students next to the opposing team's bench were doing their own thing. very loud - which is good.
the band/cheerleaders were doing something else.
and the students on the other side of the band weren't doing much.
when there are multiple cheers going on at the same time, its hard to make out anything.
I agree with you. In my opinion this is the problem that is going on (and remember that I am all for new cheers, but the cheerleaders should know them, we shouldn't be making them up at the games) :
1) The section I sit in and love, the bench side of the student section, likes to go along and do their own thing. Now, I was fine with this, and it worked last year, however, when the cheerleaders started their stuff, we would switch to their cheer, or they would go along with one of ours because they knew it as well. That isn't happening so far this year. This causes two cheers to happen at once, and then everyone just kinda stops after a while.
2) The main problem is that for some reason bench side of the student section can't hold a beat. Many times midway through a chant the student section is going faster and WAY ahead of the band & cheerleaders. I don't know if they are just so excited they get ahead, or if someone is trying to do this.
3) As far as clarifying my opposition against the "We are Bradley" cheer, it just doens't seem classy to use it like it was used today, and it should only be used when the team actually proves something. Am I off base here? It just seems like a cheer that should be used sparingly and with discretion.
