Reds' All Star Joey Votto hates Cubs fans

Joey Votto hates Cubs fans and won't sign autographs for them.

Votto wouldn't even congratulate Marlon Byrd at the All Star game because he wore a Cubs uniform.

I'm surprised it took this long for this to make this board since this went up on the ESPN site on Wednesday. Another one of those stupid little things that the media will blow up I think. While growing up playing baseball, we were always told that you can be friends with the guys on the other team, but when you cross between those white lines, they are the enemy and you do what you need to in order to defeat them.

That's true, and a lot of players think that way. But this seems different. Votto holds a grudge against the Cubs fans, and refuses to sign autographs if he thinks a fan is a Cubs fan. IMO, he's carrying it a little too far, and embarrassing himself, and giving MLB a black eye.

Not sure why he should be holding such a grudge, the Cubs can't beat his team, heck they can't really beat anybody this season, take the Pirates for example. Of course they did start to show a little life in the last two games but I am not anywhere close to getting ready to get my hopes up again.

I can't believe somebody especially an opposing player would hate cubs fans. But in all honesty I agree I had good friends on opposing rival high school teams and wanted to beat them more than anything, but at the end of they day we were still friends.

was this sarcasm? lol they are the most annoying fans in baseball....

they simply use day games as an excuse to get drunk early on weekends.

I personally think philly fans are the most annoying fans in baseball...they've earned that definitely. This coming from a cardinals fan btw.

I personally hate the Astros more than any team in the League.....so I guess I could put their fans up there by default.

I just hate cubs fans attitudes "Wrigley is the best place ever to do anything. We suck, let's get drunk and sing and feel sorry for ourselves" <<---Just my opinion lol

....I don't have any experience with phillys fans though.

I think people need to differentiate the bandwagon fans who have (unfortunately) taken over Wrigley Field from the true, long-suffering Cub fans, who tend to be pretty knowledgable baseball fans. I don't know exactly when it happened, but sometime probably in the 80s or early 90s, a lot of pseudo-fans started attending games (probably in corporate-bought seats), and a lot of these people were there more for the "party" than for the baseball. Those are the people who have given Cub fans a bad name, but I don't really consider them Cub fans.

I would consider those like my grandpa the true cubs fans. I don't know many personally.
referring to what you said...I am around so many "pseudo-fans" that are so ignorant I can't stand it.

They were lucky to fill half the seats in the field with weeds on the wall park until Harry Caray came to the Cubs. I could take or leave the Cubs until 1969. Their fans drove me against them. Don't know about Phillie or Houston fans. Been to a lot of parks but neither of those and I only know 1 Phillie fan in Peoria and he is nothing like a Cub fan and he does have something to brag about in his lifetime when it comes to the team he roots for.

Don't get me started on Philly fans Chico.... :(

"If Philadelphia had 10 sports teams, then chances are no other city would crack this list....... They are simply the worst fanbase in all of sports, period."

I've heard plenty of boos from cardinal nation...on tv as well as firsthand in the park....guarantee if AP or MH strikes out for the 3rd or 4th time in a game with a RISP to end the inning...they're gonna get booed. Pitchers get booed the most tho in stl...unless their name is wainwright or carpenter

Totally kidding because they haven't competed the last few years... I have nothing against the Reds.

I am glad you got to see 3 world series.

yeah they might boo if that happens with AP or MH.....but it won't ;-)

I like to think of booing as showing you care and really want your team to step it up....
