Report of Jim Les firing

"Bradley will be utilizing the services of Parker Executive Search, a nationally recognized firm that conducts searches for high-level athletic coaches and administrators."

This is an encouraging sign as well.

I also think Bradley did agonize over this decision.....

"While changing head coaches is always difficult, this action is in the long-term, best interests of Bradley basketball, our student-athletes and the University as a whole."

I think Bradley is going to make as good a decision as they possibly can. All you can do is trust in the process and hope they pick is the right one.

can you give a link or an example of one player tweet about this?

and I asked last week if anyone had evidence that Dr. Glasser had made some respectable and successful hires...and nobody's got a response yet....is everyone stumped by that question?

I am offering up my apologies to KW. You were right ... JL's days were numbered less than 20.

Yes, he was correct. I don't think he is happy that this has happened though. I never want the coach of BU to have to be fired. Unfortunately, BU is starting to pile up bball coaches that get fired.

So now the "pro Les" crowd is the same as the "anti JG" crowd. And the "anti Les" crowd is the "pro JG crowd. And the "pro Les" crowd who continually criticizes posts that criticize Les's ability to coach the team are now criticizing JG in the exact same manner.

Hypocrisy at its finest!

I can't second this post enough TAS!!!!!!!! Fantastic post!

I support Bradley Basketball now more than ever. Everyone wanted a winner and the Administration has listened. Now, let's see if they can help bring BU Basketball back to national prominence; they will need ALL of our support. :)

Andrew Warren......

Myself and the rest of the squad couldnt have had a better coach at our years here at BU than @CoachJimLes

What sort of warped logic is this? Look up the definition of hypocrisy, it is saying or holding one belief, while practicing another. That is not what is seen now.

The "pro-JL crowd" are 100% consistent here. They support Jim Les, and wanted him to remain as coach.

Read above tornado....... and stay true to your word to support BU..... no matter what! :!:

B4L -- maybe you see something in there about JL being fired..but that tweet by Warren is exactly like the ones he's been posting for several days...and they say nothing about a firing..

and B4L --- I doubt anyone on these boards has gone to as many Bradley games, supported Bradley as fervently in ALL situations, or given as much time, energy or $$ over the years as I have to Bradley -- I think your comments are cheap and out of line...
...oh,. and btw -- you obviously still don't have an answer to my question.. ;)

I wouldn't be surprised to see WE, AT, and at least two recruits also walking away.

I understand that the players and recruits have a certain loyalty to the coach who recruited them, but it would be in their best interest to wait and see who the new coach is before deciding to bolt or to rule out coming to Bradley,

Coach Les is gone. At this point the players need to do what they think is best for them. See who the new coach is first, then make that decsion. BU is still BU regardless of who is coaching.

How is this post of the year? I have never liked JG's athletic control and decisions, have been vocal about that (I'd dare to say moreso than any other person on this board). I like JL, and am unsure of him long term. I've been vocal about that. I have never said anyone is bad for their opinion JL should be let go.

Remind me again how I am a hypocrite?

Les' Firing

Les' Firing

I think that whenever a coaching change is made at the end of a season, there is always concern that most or all of the recruits will want to back out of their commitments. In reality, after they have had a chance to meet with the incoming coach, most of them will decide to stick with their original decision.

If these situations led to mass defections, there would be a lot fewer coaching changes.

I saw behavior towards talking about one person being cracked down against while the same behavior towards talking about a second person not being cracked down. Holding one belief while practicing another when dealing with two different people.

Then again, vocab was never my strong suit  Inconsistency is a better word probably.

Just for the record, I have been anti JG since her first year here at BU! It has nothing to do with the JL situation, but, my future outlook on JG will have EVERYTHING to do with the next hire:!: If she screws this up, I will be more than happy to show her the door!8)

As someone who has been a student here for 3 years, I would like to say President Glasser is an excellent face for Bradley, she's over seen a dramatic face lift for the campus and is welcoming and warm to all students. While I don't like the decision, the attacks on her are a bit ridiculous right now.

This is her biggest move so far, and she should be judged on what happens after this decision, who she hires and how that pans out.

I'm trying not to be a JG apologist, but this seems very strong.

Well said sousaman! :) You're wise beyond your years. I only wish others who are probably twice your age had the same wisdom sans prejudice.

While I know everyones fired up right now this is bizarre to me. Just a few days ago we were told negative comments toward BU would not be tolerated. Now the sides have changed.

I for one thank Jim for his hard work. While I was ready for change, I'm sorry it didn't work out and I hope he finds another good job somewhere. I am also worried about the Presidents influence on the decision, but I have never hid that fact.

I hope we go with a young coach that can give us 4 or 5 years and move up if he wants. I just don't think Bradley will ever be Gonzaga and I think there will be ups and downs. I am ready to get excited about a new future.

Not a personal attack - just a statement of fact that any rational person would agree with.

This team is going to be really bad for several years when we could have just kept Les and won the conference next year.

Give me a break. You need to take some deep breaths and step away from the computer for a while.
We weren't going to win the Valley next year...and this isn't the end of the world. It will be OK.

You got it! I WILL be the first one to start the "fire Glasser" poll if this does not work out!

I think the timing of letting JL go now is highly risky. If I were the prez, I would have given him another year. I would have also let him go before conference play started next year if the team was still struggling and let Coach Platt serve out the remainder of the season as Interim Head Coach.

She and Dr. Cross must be pretty confident of signing a proven winner to have pulled the trigger right now. If the hire does not work, then JG's time at BU will become limited as well.

I took it one way, and you another...... it happens. :?

I'm sorry you took it that way.... I thought you were going to support BU no matter which decision was made...... I know I still do.

...oh,. and btw -- you obviously still don't have an answer to my question.. ;)

Not sure what the question was..... probably irrelevant anyway..... but if it makes you feel better..... OK. :?

Come on McKillip! Where did I call this post of the year? And did I call you a hypocrite? Check again. You're better than that, friend. :?

B4L -- my lifelong passion is Bradley basketball -- I have little interest or loyalty to administrative business in Swords Hall...
if by merely asking a simple question about who has she hired thus far -- triggers confusion and a total lack of any actual answers, then I guess I was right to assume that it would indeed be a question that would go unanswered...
but the answer to the question is what should bother BU basketball fans...
