Report of Jim Les firing

Appreciate the heads up BnC, was waiting a good amount of time for this to happen back during the "purge", figured people would unite behind the institution we so loved when it needs us most and try to look toward a brighter future but seems people can't get past old habits and instead we're going to be bogged down in depraved xenophobic bickering like this season

I think it's understandable. You've got people close to Jim Les, friends with him, no doubt they are upset, as they should be, but they are taking it out on people who hold a different view. You've got the people that have been calling on this for 9 years doing the "I told ya so" routine. Things will calm down eventually. But thank goodness for the purge, because those people would be making things 1000 times worse.

I wonder how things like Taylor's tests, Jordan's recovery, Sammy's redshirt request, and the awards banquet will be overseen. I am assuming that Les will have no role.

Just wondering, but what in the world did JL have to do with any of the first 3 you listed?! The first 2 are for the medical staff and Sammy's redshirt is the athletic department if im not mistaken. Unless I am completely mistaken and the head coach does in fact file all the paperwork to file for a redshirt.....

And Im assuming its like any other position in the business world, if you are let go you sever all ties to functions of the company/institution. Why would it be any different in this scenario?

I think anyone getting this upset with posters on either side of the issue should take a couple days off and let things calm down.

That's what I plan to do Buesch. I've said some inflammatory things already that I regret.... so I'm hoping it won't be held against me later. Having grown up around and attended BU I've always supported the institution above all else, including men's basketball. However, some of the information that I have received since my posts last night give me great cause for concern regarding the future of Bradley Basketball as well as the direction of the University.

I'm just going to hold tight for awhile and wait to see what happens before taking a stance either way. Go Braves :?

Not sure, but I am sure the head coach is pretty involved in all four. I was just wondering aloud who would be doing that in Coach Les' place.

Probably a good move. We've got a good core of posters here who most of which have opinions yet respect both sides of an issue. I'd hate to see that deteriorate in the heat of a moment.

That's a shame B4L, after quietly reading the board for the season I've noticed you're one of the few better members on this board

Just got my computer hooked up after a 3 day move.....

Bought a Chicago Tribune this morning waiting for a train and saw the news.

There is absolutely positively no way I'm going to read all these posts or all of the other recent threads about the same subject, I'll just say what I think.

I hope the Blackhawks and Bulls give us something to be excited about this Spring :)

I hope the Braves get a good new coach and if the key players want a legacy for themselves staying and actually showing they can win any kind of tournament for Bradley would provide it years from now when the coaching change is talked about.

I liked coach Les, and am looking forward to what plays and strategy a new coach will have.

Go Braves :)

BU Rick - I will sum up everything said in 400 posts since yesterday...

-some claim they heard this was coming days, even weeks ago from good sources..but others even knew for much of the past YEAR the President was planning this action

-some claim and even the official Bradley athletic department stance is that NO decision was made until Sunday morning then at that time Coach Les was terminated

-no comment from anyone on the contract situation and how his remaining contract salaries and remuneration will be paid and by whose determination...as it appears from all accounts that this was NOT a negotiated agreement.
Thus, this might be the most interesting topic

-no mention from anyone with any actual knowledge or authority as to who are candidates for next coach -- only speculation from people who do not know and admit they do not know so of course take it FWIW

-also no mention as to how the next coach will be selected except that a search committee was mentioned and the manner that all other hires by Dr. Cross & Dr. Glasser were done similarly in this fashion...

-lastly there are various reports that at least some of the current Bradley players will not be back.

...so that's it ....you didn't miss much...

Is it safe to come out yet? I'm still hiding from the storm hehe

Ehh apparently not , let me know when the looters move outa town:p

I wouldn't beam down anytime soon Scotty!

If you do, make sure your phaser is set on stun!

Oh yeah, you also missed another couple hundred posts pointing fingers at everyone in all directions, some with hope and many with great despair.

Kind of a like the whole season's worth of JL threads/posts on BF.com, condensed into one day

What really scares me is if the search committee come up with a list of candidates and our A.D. and Pres. sit down together and decide on the new coach, where is the board members as if this choice is not right it will set us back for a very long time.

I think that is everyones main concern right now...

I haven't posted anything about this until now as I wanted to post what my feelings were after thinking about it instead of just spouting off. This is just my opinion as I see it and I know not everyone will agree w/ me

I really wanted JL to get one more year but as has been stated on here would it really have made a difference or would we really just be a year behind in this process.

It is time to move on and not worry about the past. We have some that want to talk about the fifties (this isn't bad) but we are not likely to get back to the national rankings of that era anymore, or the sweet 16 run, (which was really great but again it is over so lets look to the future)

I really hope that the players will stay but every coach is calling the better players to convince them not to stay at BU now-especially those coming in (nice to see DS on the news saying he really wants to still come to BU but will wait until a new coach is in place and he talks to him)

The last thing is that a lot of you are concerned about who JG will bring in. (justified by some of her hires but remember they aren't as high profile as the BB coach is) The one thing I have thought about is she is smart enough to know where her bread & butter come from and she will do all she can to get a very good coach as she doesn't want to stop that $$$$$$$ from coming in.

Good luck JL

Players, since you are family stick together like a family and come back and win the conference for JL next season

..

personally I have concerns beyond that....
has nobody caught on to the fact that there's a whole lot of stuff "behind the scenes" and people walking on eggshells waiting for the hammer to drop?

Its clearly going to drop on a number more people that is correct.

Is it worse than the number of people who abandoned ship under KK? He micro-managed things as well.
