Reynolds "Changing Coach, Changing Minds"

Not sure I understand the... someone might" take the job without visiting Bradley" ....shouldn't that be an important part?

Perhaps some people either a) already familiar with BU or b) already very close with Cross/JG? Who knows.

Cross said all the "right" things here and is encouraging me. Will wait and see...

I was just answering someone who wondered why Jim hadn't come out publicly to talk.

Has anyone on this board spoken to Coach Les since the news broke?

Also, if anyone knows any facts that cannot be reported in terms of transfers, specifics, I'd like a PM. I'm a good poster. :)

I have also heard this. It is best for JL and Bradley to separate following the firing.

As far as the article, use of a hiring firm sounds like a good move as it will keep the search as private as possible, which was a problem during the last coaching search. I find it encouraging that there has been a good amount of interest in the job this quickly. Cross has been saying all the right things IMO, and he will hopefully make the right decision on the new coach. 10-15 days seems fast.

I doubt it happens in 10 to 15 days unless BU gets the perfect candidate, it does need to get done soon because the new coach should get at least a chance to recruit players before the spring signing period which will be very important as to how long it will take to turn this around.

Not surprised that Jim is staying quiet, and that recruits are keeping options open. If they truly like Jim and want to play for him, they will wait to see if he takes a job elsewhere.

Unfortunately for Bradley fans who have been excited to see the new high caliber recruits, THE link they felt to the program is not there, and there's a complete void now for them. I can empathize with them on that.

The reason it might take longer is just what has been stated- the top caliber candidates will not be available to interview until after their seasons end. But I do believe it will get done pretty quickly.

Do you honestly think that Jim Les will be coaching in a Div 1 school next year? The recruits are waiting to meet with the new coach. If the meeting goes well, they will stay.

Jim was a great player for the university, and I do mean great. It is also a large reason why he got the head coaching job in the first place. There is no reason why Bradley shouldn't compete in the Valley and we haven't the whole time that Jim has been here. Our new facilities should help, but a change was definitely needed.

Hopefully Jim lives up to the motto - 'Once a Brave, always a Brave'.

I don't know -- but in many contract situations and disputes...one or both sides do NOT keep their end of the deal...
that's why we have an entire area of law called "contract law" and endless suits get filed continually over contract disputes.
Lawyers love it......

Agreed!

And we know peeps will use the lawyers :)

Yes, I do

Or is the university? There may be no great way to fire somebody, but there's definitely bad ways... I can understand a decision to fire coach les this season, but a guy like that deserves honorable treatment even in a firing... Hearing so many rumors that that's not how it went down, and that's really not okay with me.

Agreed completely fish.

I'm not shocked. I have nothing against lawyers, my dad was one and he had a little sign that sad "Sue the bastard." ;)

JL has been told to keep quiet. There's not one of us here on this site that really knows what is in his contract. I'm betting JL is smart enough to have had a good lawyer set his contract up! He'll be fine and I'll bet anyone that he'll be back one day and toasted. When that happens will depends on when the powers that be leave. JL will always be remembered for three things here; he player, the S16 run and doing things the right way.

this motto pretty much demands more of Bradley's fans than of the player....
so are the "fans" living up to it?? I think many are not...

I think there are plenty of fans who will welcome JL back. I like JL and am thankful to him for all he has done for BU but I also think it was time for a change. I wish him well and should he ever come back for a visit, I would welcome him with open arms. I honestly feel there are A LOT of fans that feel the same way.

A lot of the biggest vocal critics against any coach who gets fired usually don't have a problem with the coach coming back to visit, especially if the fired coach is a good person who did a lot for the university outside of the win/loss record. They may be the loudest at the time when trying to get the coach fired, but a lot feel it's nothing personal against the coach.

Now how the coach feels after all of this is another matter. But I personally think Les will be welcomed by many if he comes back. And he's not obligated to visit his former bosses if he chooses not to, either.
