Road... Road... Road...

BU has beaten Indiana State, Drake and a Bad Iowa State team on the road. It just seems that BU has little or no chance winning on the road against a good team. All the great things they do at home (extra pass, defend, etc.) dissappear on the road most of the time. I would just like to see one quality win on the road. And, not coincidentally, one big quality win on the road is also what the NCAA selection committee will be demanding. The SIU game becomes a must to get an at-large bid in my opinion. That is, of course, assuming BU wins at ISU and Evansville (which are wins on the road, but not quality wins on the road). The Bracketbuster game could also play a big role if BU beats the right team. Last year's blowout at Northern Iowa was "that win" and we need one this year. :)

I agree I was dissapointed in this loss, as I thought BU might pull it out as it seemed they were playing well, but this team is so different on the road. maybe we can pull off an upset down in carbondale!

Not many teams win a lot of games on the road.

Exactly! We need to protect our home court and beat the bottom of the league on the road and we will be just fine. I dont think many people had us winning at MSU.

I really think to be safe we've got to win @ SIU or get a solid road win through Bracket Buster, The valley teams ahead of us have that, and that really hurts us.

Hopefully, we can get that game against Nevada. I say if we win that one and steal one in Carbondale, then we can go 4-2 in our remaining conference games and still have a pretty strong case of getting in.

For now though......let's get ready for Creighton!

Fine in what aspect? Making the NCAA? I think we're going to need to do more than that for another NCAA bid to happen, although I do believe we could end up winning the whole darn thing in St. Louis.

to get into the tourney right now we would need to win in carbondale and probably get to the championship game in st. louis. we don't really have any wins we can point out for the selection committee and while the valley is a good conference it's not good enough for a middle of the pack team to get an auto bid. We can still get a bid but we have a whole lot of work to do.

Not sure we'd really HAVE to get to the championship game in St. Louis if we finish 11-7 in conference AND have wins @ SIU and (if we get the chance) @ Nevada.

I'm not sure why Northern Iowa would be that much more attractive than Bradley? We lost at Missouri State and they lost at Drake. Our RPI is stronger and our non-conference RPI is much stronger than theirs. I think ESPN would love to have Bradley @ Nevada as one of their tv games.

actually Lunardi's latest projections have us playing Nevada and Southern playing Butler I stand corrected. That would be fun to watch. We'll find out at 5 tomorrow. Maybe we could play a little road defense.

There's no way we're gonna get Nevada after that performance last night. Northern Iowa will probably get them.

Just like there was no way we were gonna get an at-large bid last year after the performance in the 2nd half against SIU.

Fine in that my goal for the season were to stay out of playin game and make the NIT. The team has over achieved to this point and thats great but my goals remain the same.

My goals remain the same as well. The NCAA is the goal of course, but the NIT could be fun too, especially if we got another shot at the Illini on our home turf. With the way Illinois is playing right now, they're likely NIT-bound. We have a better shot at dancing than they do, and if we can't dance, beating them in the NIT would be a heck of a way to close out a very gratifying season.

I completely agree that "the NIT could be fun too", but would love to see us on the main stage against the marquee teams from those "power" conferences. I don't see us getting the home court in an NIT game against Illinois though. I would also hate to be on the NCAA bubble WITH Illinois, considering they did beat us this season.
