Robertson Memorial floor pieces

And the true irony is that I would wager most if all of those students weren't even around when the Fieldhouse was!

Oh well, they pandered to the students.. and that is all..

P.S. JD- were you getting a piece of the floor that you once dusted? LOL

And never knew the 1981-82 team. That is why IMO this great team should have been honored at Carver instead of a game pandering to the students.

There were several members of the team and Versace who could not make it last night. Would it be a bad idea to honor them a second time later this season? Maybe the ISU game?

Funny thing is.... they have been trying to sell those floor pieces for over a year with not much luck. Anyone could have called and asked to buy for $10 and had their pick from thousands of pieces. They finally tried to unload the semi full last night for free and now everyone is whining that they didnt get their "piece of history". If it meant that much why didnt you buy at the events last year when they had them for sale? They did huge pieces at the auction that look great. Ive got a nice table but I bought my pieces at a game last year. Think I paid $10 for 6 pieces. Cant blame them for wanting to unload it all thinking that no one would want them.

Bald e the wood isn't all of what people wanted -- they wanted a memento of the actual game and event --
the acts of a few to hoard several thousand pieces that were meant for the exiting fans is shameful even if those pieces could have been had elsewhere

So who on the board is going to man up and confess to grabbing an armful? You know some posters are guilty. You could be a hero, admit you did it and deliver some of your extras to the guys on here who didn't get any...

I said in an earlier post, that anyone could have purchased one over the past year. That is not what has people angered.

What angers people is that people basically committed theft last night. People were told that fans would be able to get a piece of the floor AFTER the game.

Unfortunately, you had people ignore the posted signs and take 5 or 10 pieces.

How many of those are now or will be soon, in the garbage?

From what I have seen in different situations, once a product is mentioned as being free, people start to do strange things.

I called and tried to buy one last year and was told they weren't selling them at that time.

I was on campus last year day after the Red and White game trying to purchase pieces of the floor and was told NO they are not available. The person I dealt with in the Athletic Department was actually very rude about it.

The irony of this story is....that in the fieldhouse, when we had events where things were being handed out, we always had them locked up or secured until they were to be given out.

I actually may be getting a few from some students I know. Hopefully of the spot I used to shoot jumpers from everyday for 6 years!

6 years? What did you do- shoot until you made one? I heard you were an intramurals sensation for awhile...
And 6 years? that sounds like my "4" years at BU!

Oh Thank you for starting this thread. I noticed a lot of people commenting on the students taking more than their share but I seemed to notice a lot of older couples taking multiple pieces as well. Its a little pathetic to see fans in their late 30s and 40s carrying 4 or 5 pieces with their significant other carrying the same amount. What are you planning on doing with 8 pieces of the floor? Do you have some work that needs done in your kitchen that badly?

To those that took 4 to 5 pieces of the floor - You are the fat kid on Halloween that takes half the bowl when the candy is left outside because the residents couldn't be there to hand it out.

I don't think that is true. I tried to call and purchase a piece on multiple occasions and was denied each time.

I do have one piece that I would be willing to give to someone who really wants it. I was there in the times of the Fieldhouse, but it honestly doesn't mean as much to me as it does to some people. PM me if you really want it. First come first serve and then we can find a time to meet up so I can give it to you. I am in the Peoria area so it shouldn't be too hard.

That is really nice of you to do this. Hope this goes to someone who really wants it.

disappointed

disappointed

I was in section 17 as well and heard the negative comments from some of the so called BU fans about Jake as well. Which is crazy to me...the disappointment was how BU handled the wood floor deal...they put all the shirts on the chairs why not put the wood on the seat if you didnt want to babysit it...i went to the locker room..talked for awhile and thought for sure there would be 1 piece left but guess not...absolutely unacceptable...I cant understand why some people took more than 1 piece..very disappointing.

This is true. The athletic department had a sale of items at the soccer field (Shea Stadium). They trucked over many different items. The sale included a whole bunch of things that were inside Haussler Hall and a bunch of old team clothing/equipment. I bought many soccer t-shirts, a baseball pullover and jacket, and 2 squares of the Fieldhouse floor. Lots of old pictures and plaques that were on the walls in Haussler were for sale. They even had some old electronic equipment for sale.

I remember that day as being very cold and rainy most of the day. I called 3 of my friends and met them out there. I saw 2 other people while I was there. The announcement said that the pieces would be for sale at soccer games/scrimmage and at baseball games.
