Roy gets a security to take fan from the game because he yelled at a player shooting a ft. Not vulgar or anything and it was against Presbyterian with 6 minutes left.

After all the games Williams has coached it's odd that this would bother him.

Maybe since it's a buy game he thinks opponent fans shouldn't have the right to say anything.

It is poor sportsmanship during a ft but it didn't seem like it was that big of a deal
 
What a joke, what gives him the right to have a fan ejected for something so little.
The refs ejected some fans under the basket during the Alabama-Purdue game last night , the game was at Alabama and they appeared to be Alabama students that were ejected , that did not need to happen either because the official should have just ignored them as he had to come all the way from the opposite end of the baseline to point them out to security.
 
Lots of times one voice comes out loud and clear during a game, especially when it is at a game that is not likely drawing to much game noise. I would not be surprised in both instances that behavior had been going on for a longtime and likely (esp the Purdue game) there was some sort of warning given.
 
Not that I've ever gotten one... ;) But refs do often give discreet warnings to students after a while, and they make it clear anything else will result in removal from the game. It can also be brought about by AD's or their staff. This wouldn't seem to be the case in the Roy Williams anyway.

had that made clear to me on a few occasions...

I think he is simply being an ass. Lets throw everyone out who yells during free throws. We would have a few removed from the upper deck every game...
 
Just curious, but did he have the UNC fans who yelled at Presbyterian players ejected also since they did the very same thing?

And check out the pic & video of the incident...how come about 1/4 of all the seats in the background are empty??
This occurred with 6 minutes to go!! Are the UNC fans as bad as the Lakers fans leaving early?

I think little Roy also has this syndrome...(although Roy actually has some accomplishments to his credits)

Watching the video- I am amazed! Here is what he said in the postgame news conference-

"I just don't believe people ought to be saying anything negative at our players, they are there on our ticket at our game".

So he feels the fans don't have any rights, and must abide by his rules since they are there on his tickets! I thought the fans bought the tickets?

I also didn't like the fact that Roy called security and they were on this fan faster than if he yelled a bomb threat. This Presbyterian fan was cooperative with security, got out of his seat and walked to the aisle, yet the security officers have to show that they are doing their job by grabbing the guy forcefullly and yanking him out of the arena.
 
Yeah I really think this was becasue it was a buy game so therefore he thought he was doing Presby a favor.......he pays them 100k and they yell at his players on the ft line when it's a 50 pt game. I doubt the fans stayed until the end anyway of that time of the game. I wouldn't either.

Didn't he get on the fan base a little earlier in the season too?

Seen this happen in many girls HS games but not in college for this type of thing anyway

The fans started chanting in an ISU-like fashion...
"These refs su*k"


causing Wichita State coach Greggg Marshall to grab the PAS microphone, in violation of NCAA rules, and hush the crowd..

Yes, but per an Andy Katz column about the obscenities that the Indiana crowd chanted towards Maryland...

"Indiana coach Tom Crean wanted to address the IU student section for the
vulgarities said to Maryland's Greivis Vasquez on Tuesday night in Bloomington
but was told that he couldn't by officials Ed Hightower and Jim Burr, according

Are we seeing a surge in fans behaving badly and fan behavior issues?

I have been seeing a "surge of bad behavior' in society for the last 12-15 years. Its NOT limited to the sports arenas.

We are turning into a ME, ME, ME society and that means less respect for anyone else. At least thats what I see.

I hate to sound like a grumpy old man....I'm not QUITE there yet but simple things like holding doors for others.....allowing people to get ahead of you in line at the grocery store.....not turning in front of oncoming traffic when the arrow is red causing a traffic jam at the mall.....

OK..I feel better now. :)
 
dogrus..I do not consider myself a grumpy old man either, far from it but it does seem that people are becoming a bit ruder these past few years. Is it the text messaging and cell phones where things that were said in private people now feel they can say them out loud? I have heard young women (countless of times) cursing up a storm in casual conversation with their friends on their cell phone walking down the street and the other day I saw a young man just walking through a door looking down at his phone and letting a door slam into an older woman with her hands full, BTW he just kept on walking as if nothing happened.

I guess the difference is that I was raised by a mother who was around after school and if I did anything like that I'd be told off by her. A lot of these kids went home to an empty house and had no one to tell them right from wrong, except their peers, on a continous basis.

Yep...me too. I still hold the door for everybody and am very cognizant of others around me at all times....save for the Bradley games of course but I NEVER curse...just yell alot...ALOT.....A WHOLE LOT. :)

I'm sure your dad said this and was discussed by Rock and Roll. And his dad was appaulled and revolted at swing music... Sociology shows that older generations almost always find younger generations are rude, because their mannerisms are different. Parents highlight different things, than their parents did. However, history shows us that civilizations are almost always progressive, more tolerant and less prejudicial as time progresses. There is usually a balancing that reverses the trend for a century or two, and we almost always look back upon that trend as oppressive rule, it's an interesting debate, but one that has been played out many times over.
