Ruffin did not have one of his better games last night but there are not many players better ; he will play better and win us a lot of games.
Crouch is consistent so you know exactly what to expect from him
Salley is the same player I saw last season; very inconsistent.
Wilson appears to be improving but will not be a good scorer .
Collins needs to get closer to the basket as I think he can score and rebound.
Singh is getting better every game as knows how to position himself on the floor.
Maniscalco can handle the ball and shoot but is struggling defensively which you would expect out of a freshman.
Cole-Scott seems to have the shot and quickness we need he just has to get use to D1 basketball.
Egolf has the skills and the body he just needs more experience.
Warren can be a great player as soon as he believes more in himself.
Austin is not in shape so who ,knows what he can do?

Did I read that Ruff said he played poorly....I think he knows he did not play well...and it all starts with him...if he plays bad we are in trouble...

Patience :)

Right....there are a lot of new players so there IS a lot of pressure on Ruffin and Crouch, and both had sub par games.
Given how bad BU played and the bad calls like the one where JC dived and got a loose ball, then someone else jumps on JC and it's Crouch that got called for the foul!!
I suspect they'll play a lot better on Wednesday.

He had a bad game. He reverted to trying to do too much, like he did his first two years. It wasn't a lack of hustle or effort. It was just the opposite. He knows it. He wants to win. The coaching staff knows it. Get over it. It's one game. He's the best point guard in the Conference ... or in the Midwest. Forty minutes, 30 minutes ... I want him on the floor as long as he can go. The new players will learn and grow by playing with him. But, they must earn his confidence too, by their effort. It make take a few games, but it will happen. I think it will happen sooner rather than later with leaders like Ruff and JC. These two will go down with Bobby Joe and Mike Owens as the greatest guard tandem in BU history. (Did I just give away my age?)

Oops! I forgot to mention Squeaky (BU HOF ASAP) and Billy Mann as the OTHER great BU guard tandems in BU history. Now I have to go take a nap.

The greatest guard tandem in BU history is Les and Hawkins and I dont even think that is up for debate. Unless you think its Manual and Hawkins but either way Hawkins + someone is the best ever without question.

Certainly in my lifetime the greatest BU guard tandem that I have seen is Les and Hawkins.
A very good debate could be made for Melchiorre (retire his number) and Mann though.

This is why I always prefer to rank players by eras rather than best all-time.

Right Beninator. I've been lucky enough to see all of the players mentioned and the game has changed so much I'd hate to compare them against each other.

Yes! Hawkins and Les!

I'll take Hawkins and Manual. Were they not back to back MVC players of the year? They could do more together because they were older and more experienced than when Les played with Hawkins. Or, Hawkins and whoever was on the floor at the other guard spot...

I saw both Les and Manual play but I will give the nod to Les due to his relentless playing. He was another coach on the floor. Manuel was a bit quicker and could get to the hole but Les had a better jumper. I'm not sure what scoring was but I bet Manuel had a higher avg because he played for Stan the Man.

I also saw both play. Not to take anything away from Manuel, but Les was "hand-down" better in every way. And I think the pro career as a player and coach also validate this assumption. I'm not sure I would even say Manuel was quicker than Les. And Les was the much better floor General, IMO.

I loved Manuel and he was an all-time BU great, but I'd say Les was the much better leader and player.

(I'll never forget when I fist saw Manuel play with that high dribble - near his head- and almost constant palming of the ball on his dribble. Of course, he fixed both real quickly and became a great player)
