Ruffin out?

Only thing she has to say is that Ruffin did this and he can be arrested no matter if she wants to drop the charges or not. It's state law that an Officer has to at least arrest him, then it's up to the courts to proceed further. Which the main court date isn't until 45 days after the arrest in IL. Either way, that won't be resolved before the season over, it's all up to Bradley admin and Les to decide how long to suspend him.

It usually doesn't happen that way. Most Domestic arrests happen at the home and pretty soon after the incident happens. Usually if a battered women chooses not to call the police at any point before going to the hospital she's not going to start talking once she gets there.

Really DC...what choice do they have? This is really dissappointing.

Your team leader gets himself in to this kind of situation at anytime during the year but especially during the season.

Seriously, lefty? Have you not been paying attention to the innumerable cases in the news the past couple years?

I could give you numerous examples of coaches that did not act quickly in legal situations where it was called for. The DUI cases down I-74 went unnoticed for weeks without any mention or reaction by the coach. When he finally did react to the first case with a slap on the wrist and a zero tolerance policy, he already knew about the 2nd case and never mentioned or reacted to that one until weeks later.

The felony DUI in Champaign played out for over 6 months, including a conviction and a 15 day stint in jail before their coach made any decision about the status of that player.

And I could go on with numerous other cases involving college athletes that were swept under the rug, ignored, or delayed if you need more examples.

In fact, can you name any other legal cases at any other school where school officials reacted this promptly and discipline was issued this quickly? No. This sets a precedent for the proper way to react and handle discipline.

I was thinking the same thing. Who is awake at 5:30 if they are not going to work? Their is a game tonight why would he be up all night?

It is my understanding that the event took place hours earlier, and in fact Ruffin was at home in bed.

The 5:30 time is after the complaint was made and the arrest warrant issued, and the police arriving at his apartment.

You may just be right. I have no experience or real knowledge of domestic violence. I was taught two things concerning women, No is NO and never lay a hand on one, better to just walk away when provoked. I can say I've walked away more than once.

I don't go thru all the other cases like you and T do. All I'm saying is with the soccer situation and the alcohol deal with TW and Cole-Scott happening in the last year I don't think JL had any choice in the matter but deal with it that way irregardless of what other schools did or didn't do.
Most of the times you guys like to post when other schools don't handle situations properly in your opinion....but the are schools and coaches that handle these situations properly and discipline immediately

I agree, I don't think there is time for this to play out in the courts. Short of the woman denying or recanting the claims, I do not see this being resolved anytime soon. Just a very sad and disappointing day

If it turns out DR is guilty of this, he HAS to be gone. Will these kids who have it made ever learn? Sam has his chance to show he is the point guard of the future.

Thats what gets me....alls this person had to do was say he hit me. What if she is just mad at Ruffin for breaking up with her...she grabbed him trying to get him to stay and he pushed her off in an attemt to leave. She calls the cops and says I hurt my back when my boyfriend pushed me down.

A stretch....perhaps but it why we need to wait until.......

I never said there aren't coaches who do handle discipline correctly.

I have said that there are some who do not, and we have pointed those out.

When has any coach acted more promptly and decisively than Bradley's coach did in this case?

With our new president I'll be shocked if Ruff returns.
I guess my opinion on this is that things should be handled the way they have been handled so far regardless of who the new president is. --not a knock on the new prez,... but there is a right way and a wrong way to handle this situation. So far from what I have read, BU has handled this situation correctly.imo

This is a very sad day for everyone involved.

Wow....never ever would have expected this from Ruffin. A5th-year, senior, starter, captain, ect. should know way, way better.

Maybe this could be a blessing in disguise LOL. Remember what happened at Drake. All there bench players last season turned the starting lineup into a national power house this season. While it's not likely in this case, at least it gets TCS and Austin some great playing time the rest of the way before next season. Egolf maybe also. Plus we can't rule out Warren returning early for the Tourney.
